    It was my understanding CO2 lasers have a farther focal distance than diodes, therefore they have a longer "in focus" range than diodes... Think of it like a long hour Glass and a short hourglass. The longer our glass will have more area in the middle than the shorter one. Which is why CO2 lasers can cut thicker material and engrave things with more variance in height than a diode, like tumblers that have the big "step" in the middle.

    Can you tell me what if Fiber Laser can engrave wood or cut also?
    Cuz I bought one diode engraver and start feeling that I should buy Fiber from the beginning.
    What I can do in Diode Laser engraver that Fiber can not do?
    Thanks again...

    • @JTMakesIt
      @JTMakesIt  Рік тому

      Fiber lasers can't engrave wood or similar fibrous materials at all. Diode is much better for that. You also can't cut stuff with a fiber laser other than a very thin metals (up to about 0.3mm thick) and it takes many passes.
      Also check the video description for a link to my website article, there a lot more pros and cons are listed for each laser type.

    is a k40 style co2 laser much better for cutting acrylic than a 20w diode laser ?

    • @JTMakesIt
      @JTMakesIt  Рік тому

      Diode lasers can't cut transparent and white acrylic. But K40 is a terrible laser. Cheap but very small and needs a lot of tinkering to make it work well. You should check my reviews of CO2 lasers.
