I just started working on this bag but I seem to have run into an issue... The base of the bag for me is making a little wave on the edges and not laying flat. For the last three rounds of increase on the bottom, is it essentially every other stitch has two double crochets placed into it? that what I did but I think I increased too fast which caused the wave on the edge
It sounds like you have too many increases. Every round you make, you add another stitch in between your increases. So in round 2, you increase in every stitch. But in round 3, you add a stitch in between your increases; so you increase every other stitch. In round 4, you add two stitches between your increases; so you increase every third stitch. Make sense?

Couple of things: 1. I would suggest using a marker to mark your first stitch as it's difficult to sometimes find. Also, what is the size of this bag when created using the video? Otherwise, video is great!
I would like to know the size yarn and the recommended hook size you are using. Also, I would like to learn how to add a fabric liner into this bag. Any thoughts or suggestions?
All the supplies are listed in the description box below the video. As far as lining goes, I generally fold fabric in half and trace around the body of the bag. I then sew the side seams and I sew the top seams last. You can either hand stitch it to the top of the bag or you can hot glue it in. You may could even find some pre-made drawstring plain bags that you could use. I found a pack at a thrift store once and I often use them for liners. I hope this helps!

HI - a newbie here and was doing well until round 5 of increase - you say increase each row, but by how much? Is it the same as row 4, or should row 5 increase every 5th stitch etc?

Just what I was looking for! This is beautiful. Quick question as I am fairly new to crocheting. Is it true that the size/weight of the yarn doesn't matter as long as I have the length you specified in the description? What was the size/weight of the yarn you used in this example? New subscriber!!!
It’s not true that the size/weight doesn’t matter…not sure where you heard that but I thought I should tell you lol! Anyway, all the supplies are listed below the video in the description box. I do recommend trying to find the yarn I’m using, which is Bernat Home Maker Dec. Annie’s carries it, as does Yarnspirations. If you can’t find any, you can use other yarns but it might affect the overall look. Good luck to you!
Thank you! I was only asking the weight/size question because you didn't mention the size in your description and I was trying to figure out what to use. I did find the Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn in a "bulky" 5 that is about 317 yards per skein so I assume that's what you used. I love this yarn, thank you for recommending it. I'm about 3/4 of the way through and it's turning out great. Great video, thank you for posting!
@DaysCrochet Thank you! Just knowing I can make it with a longer strap is helpful. I only have 1 skein of each color and dont want to run out at the end 😊

At least I think you didn’t say what type of yarn I have some we all like chunky by loops and threads it doesn’t have wool in it it’s 85% acrylic 15 % nylon but it’s nice and thick and sturdy do you think that would be OK
I have never worked with that yarn, but I can safely say that most acrylic blends will stretch unless you line the bag. I tend to use cotton if I’m not using the Bernat Home Maker Dec yarn. I hope this helps!
Day’s Crochet Yes definitely helps. You’re so kind to get back to me thank you so much. I love the bag I did make it with acrylic already and now I wanted to make a sturdier one so I’m gonna give it a try again thanks again for everything.
To increase you do 2 dc in the same stitch. So you ch2 and do 2 DC in the same stitch . 1DC In the next stitch. 2DC In the next, 1 DC in the next . Repeat to the end.
Hi there - I love this and have bought the pattern. I'm a crochet beginner so the video is really helpful. However I live in the UK and cannot find this yarn anywhere at all - could I use a UK Cotton DK as an alternative? I think that is ok but it is round and not flat. The flat tape here is very low on stock and colours (and a different brand made from t-shirts I think) and also incredibly expensive...Thanks again!
Mary Domange I am uncertain if there’s a comparable yarn in the UK, but I have also made this bag holding double strands of DK weight yarn held together. Maybe you could try that?
@@DaysCrochet Thank you for that! In the meantime I have just found the following which I will try! Couldn't compare gauge so I will see how it turns out and let you know. Excited to start! Not sure if link will work but it is Schachenmayr cotton jersey from www.lovecrafts.com. www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/schachenmayr-cotton-jersey
@@DaysCrochet I have just finished it! My first bag and really happy with it. Used the @t this yarn which was really heavy - so I had to make the base smaller but all the rest was more or less the same. I'm going to make another one with a lighter ribbon yarn which is now back in stock. Thank you so much! Great tutorial too.
Donna Russell it would work but I would not use acrylic. I’ve made it using double strands of Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend and it doesn’t stretch like acrylic yarn. You have to be careful with acrylic yarns when it comes to purses/bags bc they will stretch to the floor lol. You can also line it if you choose to use acrylic. I line all of my acrylic bags.
Hi, I am having trouble ....after the the 5 round counting from the center. After the 5 round you continuing to do - increase 3 dc increase all the way around or you do increase 4 dc on 6 roll and increase 5dc increase and so on until you have 8 rolls?? so by the roll 8 you will be increasing 7 dc increase?? Does it make sense??
All supplies are listed in the description box below the video. Click the tiny down arrow button to the bottom right of the video to expand the description box.
Ok I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.. those three increase rows.. I went around doing two dc and than one dc back to two dc to one dc in each stitch and I have got a floppy yarn mess on my hands and it never started to bowl.. between row 6-8 I don't know what happened. Can someone explain what I did wrong.. I swore she said increase every other stitch for next three rows.. 😭 what did I do???? What did I miss. I'm getting broken hearted over here.
Oh no, you don’t increase in every other stitch for the next three rows. You increase like you normally would for the next three rows. Maybe you would add a stitch between each increase every subsequent round. Does that make sense?
I don’t know why it put the word may be in there. You definitely increase in every subsequent round as you normally would. That means you add a stitch between each increase as you go to the next round

It's nice... But on the third row you are so quick at the beginning of the row I can't understand how to do the increase.. I'm a beginner...
I’m struggling with that too
To increase you do 2 dc in the same stitch.
Thanks!
What size needle and yarn weight did you use? How many skeins of yarn?
It’s all in the description box below the video ☺️
Would this work in a chunkier yarn?
Donna Russell it would work but I would not use acrylic. I’ve made it using double strands of Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend and it doesn’t stretch like acrylic yarn. You have to be careful with acrylic yarns when it comes to purses/bags bc they will stretch to the floor lol. You can also line it if you choose to use acrylic. I line all of my acrylic bags.
I will make this for my bf's mom on mother's day 😌
Edit:
Is this 100g worth of yarn or more?
I put the yardage in the supply list in the description box below the video. Sorry for the delayed response. I’m just now seeing this!
Did you actually do 2 rows of DC after the final section of EWS before starting the handles?
I don’t believe so
It sure looks that way to me too!
Does it make sense??
you would have 7 dc in between the increases by roll 8
What size crochet hook are you using?

@@DaysCrochet Thank you!
Hello. I already bouth the accesories but what kind of wol is this that your are using!
@@sylviefeys744 this yarn is by Yarnspirations. It's called Bernat Home Maker and the color shown is Clay. You can get it at Michael's or order from Yarnspirations or Annies websites. I hope this helps!
@@DaysCrochet well i'm from Belgium in Europe. So i don't think i can order that i would have to look it up. Could you maybe tell me what the fabric is ... Acrylic??? How many percentage or something??
@@sylviefeys744 it's a cotton tubular yarn with a sort of polyfil in the center. I know Amazon carries something similar, as does Temu, but I can't attest to the quality or how well it compares.
@@DaysCrochet oh i'll see on temu. Thank you so much for your kind and quick respons
@@sylviefeys744 you're very welcome! Good luck❤️
Hi, when you do the double crochet rows, do you chain before each row?
Yes, unless you’re starting out with a standing DC, which I don’t do because I can’t ever get it right lol
Your long stitch is very much akin to the Broomstick Stitch
Are the straps long enough to carry this bag as a shoulder bag?
You can make them as long as you want☺️
👋🏼I 🤓💌☝🏼This Pattern ,, It’s My NEXT PROJECT ,, THANKYOU I Think I Will Make The Strap Longer
How much yarn would I need for this bag?? Any idea ? Can you please help?
