I love how gentle Kevin is with his animals 💕 The “hi sweetie” gets me each time. You see some breeders and they are so rough with their snakes. They’re just a means to producing an income. Kevin genuinely _loves_ and cares about every animal he has.
Not just his animals he is great and loves all animals. His research on wild animals especially timber rattlers is not documented enough. With the exception of Dav Kaufman I've never seen anything like it.
I don't think that's possible lol the love Kevin has for his animals really is a once in a lifetime thing. He genuinely cares for and loves them more than he does his human counterparts. And not just his animals he loves all animals the work he does in the wild is untouched by any other breeder with the exception of maybe Dav Kaufman.
He is a walking encyclopedia of all animals not just reptiles but most animals. He does alot of conservation work here in New Hampshire and some other states as well.
I’m telling you, Kevin’s passion and respect for animals is like the greatness of the late Steve Irwin. Just watching Kevin’s interactions with these animals inspire me to be more gentle and considerate with my own interactions
@@pam9249 Steve Irwin and Kevin did work together on several occasions including being on David letterman show I believe if not it was one of the late night shows.
I really want a video of Kev explaining what he does when he starts working with a new species. How did he figure out everything with establishing new species in captivity , how did he figure out breeding and stuff like that.
@@myceilauniverse9096 Yeah I understand how it’s done basically but I’d like Kevin to actually go in depth the way he does on things. Preferably use species he’s actually worked with and use the processes he took when dealing with them. I don’t think his brain is picked nearly enough
When he was meeting with Clint from Clint's Reptiles...he gave a complete yet brief explanation of how he works and thinks and listens to his "students". It all made perfect sense. He lets the animal train him. I guess that's the simplest way I could say it. He does a mind meld with whatever creature blessed enough to be in his hands. He was talking in a video while he was showing us boas and Dragons. One of them just rested its chin on his hand and gazed up at him with adoration. It was such a beautiful thing to see. When do you get an expression of love from a lizard? Or a snake? He truly is a master. I'm new to this entire world. It started out watching tarantulas being fed and two years later I'm enamored with several channels of UA-cam all pertaining to lizards and reptiles and spiders and jumping spiders. Kevin is a great human being. And so is Clint, Chandler, Tyler Nolan , Tom and many many more.
Many of the species with morphs have established care guides and more small scale breeders. For a completely new species, you observe and research as much information as you can about their natural habitat and behaviors. Replicate that in captivity as best you can, and compare their behavior and appearance to see how they are doing. Breeding is a little more difficult, since it's harder to observe in the wild, but it's possible with a lot of time and experience. Beyond that, for morphs, you learn what dominant, recessive, and codominate genes they have. Almost always they originate from the wild, but they do mutate very rarely in captivity (albinism is a genetic mutation, but can also mutate without albino gene carriers). Many of his species are a mixed variety of genes, which is why the names can be kind of confusing or hard to notice with the naked eye.
@@TheDreadedJuggernaut Thanks , I appreciate your comment and the one above but I don’t think I explained what I’m really looking for , I understand how it all works, I want to hear Kevin actually go over “when I started with my first caiman” or similar stories .
