To be honest i felt that with all my fragrances. The first time your nose smell something new it gets you excited, eventually the smell is not new and over time you get used to it. You just cant blame the creed, its some brain complexity.
I work at a department store right by the creed section and I'm quite close with the creed staff. I've been told the reason it smells different is because some ingredients have gone illegal, some have gone out of season, some are just much harder to find so they have to use more of another ingredient to balance it out. To me, I believe some of that is true but it's obvious creed has definitely cheaped out on some of their fragrances. It's actually an iffy subject to talk about batches because so many people come in and bug my co-workers about if they have a certain batch and it's like no... We don't. Side note: creed also increased their price in August by $30 and again at the start of October by another $30 so it definitely seems like they don't really care about giving you quality for the price you're paying
I would say, either they should reformulate it properly, meaning make it as good as possible to correspond the price. Or just end the production if it's impossible to make legally. What they are doing now is just cheap, riding on the hype train. And Aventus bros and reviewers will shill this in hope of free bottles. So Creed makes profit even with a bad product. I own 0 Creed frags and will never buy one for the price, the value is not there and nobody cares that I am wearing Creed, even if I tell people that LOL
@@Phonicszn right. I have no doubt about some. I don't own aventus but I do own viking and it's a beast for a good 2 hours and the drydown has really good sillage. Its a 2022 batch
it’s the oakmoss. IFA regulates fragrances and they categorized oakmoss as a skin irritant (which it is for a lot of people) so everyone’s resorted to using synthetic oakmoss
Reformulations happen for practical reasons (like material scarcity or safety regulations) but usually they're done to lower the bill of materials and raise margins, even if it's just by pennies. Creed got acquired by a public company, sure, but they were thinning out the soup for years before the buyout. They got memed online super hard by the fragrance community, and even before that they had a nearly godlike reputation, so they felt secure enough to pull the breathtaking move of both watering their formulas down *and* jacking up the prices. They're completely shameless and not worth supporting, in my opinion.
I sampled a few Creed’s the other day in a high street department store and none of them lasted more than an hour or so. The sales associate emphasised that they were all hand crafted from natural ingredients like a fine wine. We didn’t discuss batch variations but to be honest I don’t really care as it’s such a disappointment that they don’t last on the skin. People say to just spray more but at the prices they ask, I’ll vote with my feet and just walk on by! I almost feel like the customer is being taken advantage of - being sold on apparent exclusivity and brand reputation and history while the product is essentially sub-standard. I think Creed need to re-evaluate their mission and ethos. ☹️
This is the detrimental situation that the consumer has created, unfortunately. Diabolically, the company may be sitting back allowing it, hell they maybe even strategized how to market their shit to get this much craze, but at the end of the day the people took it an ran w it. YT reviewers did their part in adding fuel to the fire, whether it be for free bottles or not, I would’ve never cared about creed if there wasn’t so many non affiliated or partially affiliated people pushing it like salesmen and women
I own 2 creeds. Silver Mountain Water and Aventus. Both last 8-10 hours easily. I can smell SMW on me all day. At first, I didn’t think Aventus was performing, But I found out that I go nose blind to Aventus within just a few minutes. I only know it is performing because it gets me compliments hours and hours after putting it in. Also, I cannot smell it after a few minutes, but when doing my laundry a few days later, can still smell it pretty strong on my clothes.
You’re right but they still have some good ones. GIT is solid, Royal Water and Bois du Portugal are solid as well if you’re over 40. Great office scents.
I’ll say this. The first time I smelled Aventus was July of 2012. I was at the Greenbrier in West Virginia, and there was a Creed boutique there. The sales associate sprayed it on a card and I was hooked, purchased it on the spot. It was extremely smoky, just the right amount of pineapple and extremely strong, the most amazing thing I had ever smelled. The batch disparity debate is definitely legit. In subsequent years I’ve purchased additional bottles and nothing ever compared to that 2011/2012 batch, and that is very frustrating. I had a batch from 2015 that was close but it was lacking on the smoke. It doesn’t help that Creed increases their prices every few years while watering down the product. I’ve moved on from Aventus to MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver and I am quite happy with it.
The newest batches don't compare to the authentic decant sample of Creed Aventus I bought from Bonanza a couple years ago. I don't know what batch it was because it was never listed, and I did not ask the seller. All I knew it smelt amazing. It was the best fragrance I had ever sampled in my life, and wanted a full bottle, but was not wanting to pay the ridiculous price. The new batches of Creed Aventus don't wow me like what I sampled, and the juice was not even the same. The sample I had the juice was yellow, and it was strong. The old batches of Creed Aventus made you smell like the best smelling man in the room consistently. Anybody that gets to sample an older batch of Creed Aventus unknowingly like I did would be lucky. That experience wowed me, and made me realize what all the hype was all about. Shame I don't get that feeling in the newer batches.
I was in Nieman Marcus in Arizona and I went up to the Creed counter, I had the woman at the counter blast my arm with Aventus. In less than an hour it had disappeared entirely off of my arm and that right there stopped me from spending 400+ dollars at an overpriced store lol
Facts. I sampled it many times and really wanted to like it. The scent is good. A nice fresh scent. But the performance is so bad. It's almost insulting to charge $300-$400 for a fragrance that bad.
I love Aventus i first bought a bottle in 2011 then 2015 and my last bottle in 2019 and i can honestly say it has changed the 2011 bottle was amazing compared to the others i have owned.
The "batch variations" are due to creed tinkering with the recipe over the years as they sought to increase the profit margins with a view to making the company more saleable. Yes, they are that cynical
Every company reformulates to reduce overhead. It's the nature of business. Publicly traded companies reformulate much more aggressively than private companies (think Dior vs Chanel) but they all eventually do it.
And if reformulations start to be a problem, let's say because of IFRA and materials, then they should just end the production of the fragrance. Now they are cheapening it down and at the same time the price is going up. And because of UA-cam shills that are recommending this overpriced smelly water, clueless consumers will still buy this. Zero respect for Creed.
I was gonna comment against this BUT to be fair, rich people ALWAYS run away from hyped luxury. So its dum dums now just generally buying Aventus with their hard earned money and credit cards. And not getting what they payed for.
Explorer has been one of the most successful cologns I've ever had. Yes aventus is better "the older ones" smells more natural and explorer smells more clean and woody. For the price you can't go wrong with explorer.
Hi I just wanted to give my opinion as I just purchased my first bottle of aventus. I have never experienced any of the older and supposedly nice batches of the past but I can tell you that whatever I got was absolutely amazing. It has really good lasting power, I can smell it off my forearms for hours with only 2-3 sprays. Believe it or not it actually remains as a skin scent on me for over a day even after a shower, I seriously can’t believe it sometimes! Couldn’t be happier, just need to figure out how to make more money so I can bathe in this stuff!
It’s 🔥 in the cold. Smells different. In the summer it dries too quickly but that’s with all fragrances. That cold makes it last longer since the super hot heat isn’t drying it so quickly
This is a useful review/comparison.I sampled Aventus at a department store earlier this year. I sprayed some on my wrist but was underwhelmed by the fleeting scent. I couldn’t understand why it was so expensive. I bought my first bottle of Explorer earlier this month. I wore it for an appointment on Monday and had a compliment with a few minutes: “you smell nice!” The scent trail lasts for several hours. I think it’s a more substantial fragrance than Creed. Just my opinion.
@@hvgo7714 sure but there is so at least one part a objective truth. You can look at the complexity of the fragrance, how long lasting and on the composition. And explorer is in every aspect so far away that I am very surprised that people like it better. Also it smells completely diffrent. It's literally a totally diffrent fragrance and I believe that shows that most peope have not a good enough smelling sense to differentiate well enough. My sense was alway by far the best. I also smell out toxic stuff in food like mold and I smell when dishes are not 100% perfectly washed. I never encountered somebody that could smell things like that. That all is pretty good evidence that my opinion is a but more than just a opinion.
Mont Blanc Explorer over Aventus anyday for me. Too many batch variations that it really made me not care for the fragrance since a couple of years ago. The spicy woodiness in Explorer always gets me, esp that Akigalawood note. Amazing and I'll take a bottle of Explorer over Aventus many times over. Great review Aaron!
Too bad, Explorer is also full of ambroxan, like most new designer perfumes. It seems okay to most people but my nose can't stand that synthetic smell.
I love your reviews, because they resonate with me. I don't know anything technical about fragrances, so I would never know if the details you give are right, but the things I smell always correspond to what you say. For example I always thought Hacivat was totally different than aventus. So I was super happy to hear that they are totally different in construction, because they smell totally different. I would love you to do a Mancera Cedrat Boisé vs Aventus, to confirm my smell saying they are totally different as well. With explorer I smell the resemblance. Keep up the good work!
ATH, I see you rocking that THC shirt ;) you should do a video on cannabis as a fragrance note. I'd love to see that. All the different terpenes in it and the forms it takes as a fragrance, be it as leaves, stems, buds, resin, hash, or just up in smoke. Such an interesting plant
I have a year old bottle of aventus and pushes for 10-12 hours. I think people go nose blind to Aventus. I go nose blind to it within minutes. I only know that it’s performing because it generates compliments. I do have have MontBlanc Explorer too and like it. Funny, I have never gotten a compliment while wearing Explorer, but cannot wear Aventus without getting a compliment. No lie. No exaggeration.
Absolutely love your reviews. Thank you for the time and passion you put into your work, very appreciated 🙏. I agree that there are certainly batch "issues" with Aventus; it's quite known that when you purchase a batch from a particular year, it's going to be (markedly) different from even the year prior. Also very true that with each new batch lies an issue with the performance. For something priced at $350, it shouldn't be this way.
I’ve been wearing aventus for 10 years now. I’ve called creed customer service and they said the variation is due to natural ingredients. I have noticed differences in longevity but smells overall the same to me. I get plenty of compliments on it and it’s definitely my signature scent. People may not like the price but does smell very good. Sales associates don’t go in to detail on how fragrances are constructed at any retail place I go to. I would say I go through about 2 bottles a year.
It is possible they had a great batch, distillation, and crop from the naturals from the first few batches or so. Or they switched suppliers etc. I doubt that would account for all the variations. It is more likely they either had to change formula, or did so to increase profits. You would think that the price increases would be enough to offset supply costs, but don’t ever underestimate greed.
I have a couple of 10ml decants of early batch Aventus, I only wear on special occasions as I am well aware once they are gone, my Aventus journey will have come to an end. Lasting power is genuinely magnificent, if I were to spray on in the morning I could still smell the fragrance on my skin the following morning even after an evening shower! I recently went to John Lewis and House of Fraser in Bluewater Shopping Center, I sprayed Aventus from both stores, one on my left arm and one on my right arm, both were gone by the end of my shopping trip! Very sad and I feel the fragrance house is cruising on former reputation with sales of the product!
The first time I smelled Aventus was 2014, that was insanely good. It had a deeper ‘manly’ Smokeyness to it. Now it seems to be purely based on the pineapple. I had one bottle it was that fruity it smelled like Virgin island water. If only Aventus could go back to being consistent from the early years.
Please more of such comparison videos. We would love to see how you rate them and think about them side by side. Thanks for existing in the same time I do. I’ve learnt and I am learning from you a lot 🍀🤍
Montblanc Explorer is my go-to, for the price its a no brainer. The aventus I've tried smelt more natural which I liked, but had poor performance and was weak. I find that explorer has a smoky woodiness in it that I could not smell in aventus - and its that citrus pineapple burst on top of the smokier woodiness combination I really like, which I actually didn't get from aventus. They're similar but different, and I prefer explorer. I don't love the ambroxan hit it has, but assuming it helps drives its performance I don't care - the price is also just a huge factor.
I have a bottle of Aventus in my collection but honestly, its just for show at this point. I believe Mont Blanc has a superior product but I also like the similar vibe that Mancera's Cedrat Boise gives.
Montblanc Explorer is full of ambroxan. To most noses, ambroxan seems to smell good or ok, but to some people, it really stinks. One thing is for sure, more and more modern perfumes are using this cheap synthetic ingredient: Explorer successfully copies a niche perfume and uses the same boring juice of modern perfumes.
@@etpourtant7512 That's fine, because the alternative is very expensive. I don't blame people who buy expensive fragrances, because I see it as "maxing out" in one of our senses, and when I see it that way it's a small price to pay. I also don't blame people who want alternatives with 1/10th the price, because 20% less for 1/10th the price is still a bargain, and you can get 10 scents for 10 the lifetime for the same price. I blame people that buy clones that are in the price range of an original brand. A clone should be 1/5th at least the price of original, and less than $70-80 total.
Whatever mood or mindset you were in for this recording is great. I often watch when I see you have a video related to something I'm interested in, but the vibe from you in this particular one is, in some way, more likeable than usual. Very noticeable difference to me. I'm not saying I dislike anything in older content. Hopefully, the feedback is useful. Thanks for your work. You're one of the frag-related content producers whose opinion/info I value.
Explorer is literally the most versatile fragrance ever. Seriously. Any season and any occasion. School, work, meeting, casual, tuxedo, suit and tie, lunch, dinner, bar, club, date night, wedding, and anything else you can think of.
I have aventus and explorer. I don't wear aventus anymore, it just doesn't last and explorer is a powerhouse. I gauge a fragrance by the compliments I get. No one has ever complimented aventus, but I continually get compliments about explorer. I'll definitely try combining them both though, never thought of doing that. Another great video.
Explorer may be powerful, but it's full of ambroxan, like many of today's fragrances. After a few hours, your skin smells of ambroxan, which is a no go for me. Projection is important, but not at the expense of fragrance.
Aaron I really hope to see you do an Aventus version review. The batch variation hype is definitely not a wives tale… It has changed significantly over the years, and in my personal experience these new batches have a little to no performance. It’s a real shame because I am truly a fan of the fragrance design, as are many others. It will be incredible to hear the insight coming from someone with your skills and experience. I look forward to that one !!
@@andykay2802 Yeah I have a 2019 bottle of Millesime Imperial that’s completely useless as well. Might as well be spraying water on my skin. It’s really sad; they used to be SO good. I guess that’s what happens when you get bought by a giant conglomerate. It’s a shame. Hey- thankfully we have ATH making THE best creations out there! There’s something for everyone in his line.
Really sad indeed. I have a late ‘16 batch of Aventus which seems to be my lucky charm. Huge performance, still comes off strong after 12 hours. Tested a ‘21 and ‘22 batch, can’t say much more than that it’s absolute horse shit…
Hey Aaron I actually worked agency on the creed counter a lot over last Christmas. No1 the manager was an absolute cow and no2 It's so funny that you said embarrassed cos that's exactly how I felt it's actually mind boggling that people pay the prices for this when I agreed mont blanc was far better and better value. If people mentioned how expensive it was and they couldn't afford it I would suggest on the sly mont blanc is very nice hopefully made a good few people happy over Christmas with the montblanc gifts. Any time I'd mention anything to do with the dynamics of the company the manager wouldn't even speak even though I was just curious. Strange x
The batch variations is indeed a real thing. I have various decants going back to 2014 batches and bottles from 2018 - 2022. Some batches are weak, some batches are strong, some batches are dark, some batches are bright and vibrant. It's a wild and crazy ride when diving into the batch variations. It should show the batch number of that sample on the outside fold of the cover card. The 15 batches and peform (non "N") 19 batches are incredibly strong and unique. I could go on and on about the differences in variations. Definitely easy to get sucked into the world of batch variations.
I would call it as inconsistent formula. Product is not finalized or they purposely changing it in order to drive higher margins by removing components
Totally AGREE with you. I do love "Montblanc explorer" and even if i find "Creed Aventus" nice, i don't really understand the hype for this (too) expensive perfume. In my own opinion, it is overvalued. But all the tastes are in Nature... but sorry, i find it too expensive for what it is.
Allen from Beverly Hills Perfumery told me the earlier batches smelled like a different fragrance. Specifically he said the early ones were much more smokey. I know there's some variation, but this was quite the statement.
CREED AVENTUS is an inconscient fragrance. Mont Blanc in the other hand is consistent. If I run out, I know the next bottle will smell exactly the same.
I so appreciate you taking the time to review these fast food designer frags.I admit I tend to look for the more affordable but it seems like for the most part it is a waste. I do like some blue de channel but i would really like to adventure into the deep end of the pool.I love your reactions and have learned so much, thank you.
Just bought a 200ml of Explorer I've used it before run through 2 100mls.I own Xerjoff Mancera and Roja fresh scents. However the Explorer is fantastic it's like Dior Savauge and Aventus/Nishane Hacivat mixed in.Essentially it's like a stronger Roja Elysium. The ultimate DNA of this is Mancera Cedrat Boise Intense.
I did this at the beginning of my Journey. Aventus now has a Mandarin Orange note instead of Pineapple (imo) They removed a bit of the smoky incense that it was known for, and is needed to help cut through the citrus acid. Aventus also has 'potted soil' patchouli at the end dryoff, which i don't like. Explorer at discounters is cheap af, i paid like $35US for a bottle, i mean at that price it's a 'good' fragrance, but i wore it in high heat during the summer and in the car it was getting cloying because of how much citrus acid white musk there is in it. In the opening my batches are very hard to tell apart, where you can notice small differences as it drys down. Now that my nose is more trained after testing about 700+ fragrances during my journey, id love to revisit compairing to see what differences i notice now.
I think creed aventus has the most natural ingredients with the best quality ingredients. The pineapple opening is what I love the most. Mont blanc explorer is a good clone even though it's different. Just recently tried Club de nuit intense man and smells very similar to mont blanc explorer as well but cheaper so I think in the future i'll go with CDNIM it's cheaper than explorer with similar scent profile. I also tried Nishane Hacivat which I think would appeal more to you as a perfumer it's strong performance and creamy seems like something you'd appreciate
I bought a bottle of Explorer as soon as it got released and let me tell you, on my skin it last for at least 8 to 10 hrs, I don’t know about the newest batches
I have a 2019 batch of Aventus and it definitely has that nice smooth core like you said. I think that the batch I have is less smoky and more focused on the pineapple. Mine has nice smooth sweetness in the middle(vanilla I guess). I also have a 2015 and 2020 batch of Green Irish Tweed and the older smells different and better to me. I did smell a 2010 batch of Green Irish Tweed and it smells the best to me.
I'm sure this has already been mentioned but Aventus is also one of those fragrances you can go anosmic to very quickly. I used to think that was the urban myth that Creed and die-hard Aventus fans put out there to justify the poor performance as compared to the high price but it happened to me when I owned a bottle. I applied just as I arrived to work one morning and gave myself six or so sprays and within 30 min, I couldn't smell it at all. A friend and I went to the break room to grab a cup of coffee and catch up and a beautiful co-worker stopped us and said, "I'm so sorry to interrupt but one of you smells amazing and I have to know what it is" so I guess there's something to it. Still, I was good having owned one bottle of Aventus and then it was time to move on to new experiences. Another stellar video Aaron!
Its always those beautiful Co-Workers or old lady's in mall stopping people to compliment etc i just love the comment sections on fragrance reviews LOL for that amount of money i would want the mysterious Co-workers ripping my clothes off...not compliment me. i can get that from a decent $50 shower body wash that smells 10x better than Creed. Over-Rated-Over-Priced.
@@Mark_106Similarly, it's always the people who can't afford Aventus even at discounters hating on it. The reality is that Aventus projects for a few hours and becomes a close to skin scent after that. It does not perform beast mode like Sauvage or similar. Women in general do not care for the scent, and the few who do like it are not running up to you to compliment it. At best, the reaction is them thinking in their minds, "that smells pretty good."
I remember smelling aventus straight up at a John Lewis and being utterly blown away bit it, plus I had smelled it on somebody before and the scent cloud in the air was incredible. I decided to buy a bottle, which as soon as I sprayed it smelled as great as I'd remembered, but barely lasted. I wore it for the first time to a birthday in the summer, you would think a £180 bottle of perfume would last longer than 3 hours, but it really didn't. Further to your point about the sample smelling completely different to your previous sample, I bought two bottles 2 months apart from each other, one was very smoky and lasted about an hour, the other was much cleaner and fruiter but lasted a couple hours longer. Considering how many clones there are that smell very similar, and last much longer going for around £40-£50 a bottle, aventus really isn't worth it anymore.
Stopped by the Creed counter at Bloomingdales 60th/Lex in NYC yesterday. Gentleman at the counter was so nice, let me test anything I wanted, and even gave me a sample vial of Aventus to take home. I have noticed that it is a subtle scent that does lack longevity. By contrast, the scent of Green Irish Tweed lasted quite a bit longer.
I love Creed Aventus but it just don't last long enough for me either and I love fragrances that last ! You made a great point about it not many people talk about !
how interesting. i also did a similar creed vs explorer field test just recently and i came across the exact same observations you made! Creed dissipated within moments of spraying. i also tried spraying a tshirt and left it inside the closet but the smell disappeared within 30 min (you can get a whiff of it IF you bury your nose into the garment wc is... bad.) meanwhile Explorer was better able to project.
Aaron you do such a great job.. I believe almost all Creed Aventus later batches have been seriously watered down or reformulated.. I can understand the different batch variations but I would never buy Creed Aventus at its prices.. A person is better off buying a clone or Mont Blanc Explorer. In 2010 I believe Creed Aventus had three batch variations.. I have a 2010 batch Z01( heavy pineapple batch) of Creed Aventus.. Very strong and it lasted on my skin for 8 hours compared to what is out now.. I understand why so many design/clone houses tried to copy this fragrance.. Example Parfum Vintage.. Excellent Clone House for Creed Aventus.. This clone house amped up its formula for Creed Aventus and it out performed Aventus ten times over..
I know knock offs are not cool, my Parfums Vintage Emperor Extrait was wonderful and is supposed to smell like old school Aventus. I’ve never smelled the old school, but the EE did smell different than my current Aventus.
Aaron, please please please restock your discovery set in the US. I am dying to smell your fragrances so I can make some key additions to my own from the house of ATH
Never was into fragrance up until a few months ago and bought a bottle in December of 2022. Seems like the few times I’ve worn it that it’s performed pretty well. Of course, I wish I could have smelt the older batches to compare, but so far it hasn’t been too bad.
I tested Aventus in December and after 1 hour I could barely smell it, I would never pay the price for it but I've always been curious of the hype, great video yet again Aaron
I love the calmness of his voice! Well done mate, thanks for the review! I do have a question where do you rank my favorite discontinued fragrance the YSL M7, the original one!? And how do you compare it to the newer one?
I have 2011,12,14,15,16,17,18,19 & 20. 2011-2013 2013-2016 2017-2019 20-onwards All of these years between them are vastly different. Personally my favorites are 2015 and 2016.
Aventus smells completely different to me at times. Same bottle. It’s like it has two smells and i don’t know which one I’ll be smelling until I put it on.
Love to know your opinion of Green Irish Tweed and how long it lasts. This was definitely a video for me of running upstairs to get both fragrances and put them on each hand. Really surprised by your thoughts of Aventus there and I think I’ll give it a go of putting Explorer on first with Aventus over the top. (see what happens) Once I discovered Parfums De Marly I’ve never thought of Creed as much
Parfums De Marly is the king of dark fragrances AKA winter and fall fragrances, and Creed is the King of fresh fragrances. Layton has become like the Creed Aventus of Parfums De Marly. Layton gets a lot of hype and has been put in fragrance battles with Creed Aventus. Parfums De Marly has made a few fresh fragrances, but I would love for them to come out with a similar fragrance to Creed Aventus.
@@razvanyke Yes it is a common practice now, but the way Creed has done it has caused a lot of controversy. They get away with it or use the excuse that they use natural ingredients when it is in season. A lot of their customers have fell for the Creed marketing.
@@OsAbliNgin911 At least Creed seems to be staying away from ambroxan type fragrances. I wish Marly's Perfumes would stick to natural and quality components as well, but their Layton and Carlisle smell very ambroxan when they dry.
I have been told by the creed sales people that there is no such thing as a batch variance. That every batch made is carefully monitored to be the same as the last.
My God people just love this content. I asked one of creed ambassadors the other day if they're formula has changed or if people were concerned that the performance has decreased because of different batches. "No we're the best fragrance company" was the jist of what they told me for 4th time. Just bought a $20 thing of ambroxan to boost my $30 cdnim because FUCK them
To boosts your CDNIM?! Damn! My bottle of CDNIM is an absolute beast. If i layered with ambroxen it might never come off and quite possibly kill someone 🤣🤣
I just got a new bottle of Aventus today. I can't detect any smokiness. But the notes that are there, are lovely. I got about 6-7hrs of longevity with about 2-3hrs of solid projection
I work in London and a 3 minute walk to Liberty's. some of the counter staff in the fragrance department ask what notes you like, and when I spoke to the lady on the Frederic Malle counter and I said Rose , she asked who my choice of perfumer was I told her it was ATH ,, and the next day I took her in a decant of rose , She was blown away by it and said it was "absolutely beautiful" and we have since got a very good relationship going she has given me a few samples from her counter . Not sure which one of yours to let her try next :-)
Aaron, try the Armaf Club De Nuit Intense line against Aventus and Explorer. I just received the new Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Limited addition. Would love to get your take on this line when you can. I see your very busy lately! Always good to be busy! Be Good, Stay Safe…👍
I prefer MBE over Aventus. It's a little darker/heavier/smokier than Aventus. I bought several samples of Aventus, sure enough each one smells very different the entire way. The performance varies significantly, but I'll use their Aventus oil as a base and spray over it which really bumps up it's longevity. At first I thought it was poor quality control from Creed. But given the drastic increase in price combined with the decrease in performance (and well everything else across the board) it was them trying to cut corners wherever possible. Creed was probably pumping Aventus out as fast as it could make it, just sourcing from lower quality and throwing in varying ratios as they sourced it. Along with using lower quality materials. That aside, Aventus' longevity dramatically increase after you let it sit 6-12 months. My current bottle went from a 1 hour scent to a 12+ hour.
Would be nice to see a video where Aventus gets compared to Loewe Esencia EDP, which is the closest to Aventus that I have smelled whilst having a great performance.
Would be great to see you compare different batches, Aaron. A UA-camr fraghead called Agnes Eva did such a comparison between batches 15X21 (2015) and 19P11 (2019). She found major differences. For anyone interested, her video can be found easily using those batch numbers because they are listed in the video title.
I have a Creed Aventus Batch F000793 sample and it smells real good to me. It doesn't seem to last longer than a few hours. It's my first experience with Aventus. I do have a Mont Blanc Explorer sample. It's smells quite similar and definitely lasts longer. I personally am not into spending the money they are asking for Creed. Explorer seems like an adequate option. Of course I have heard of the Club de Nuit Armaf. I never smelled it. Seems to me if it smells more synthetic, I am not going to like it but I won't know until I sample it. I just picked up some Loewe Esencia Elixir EDP and that's amazing! To me it has some Aventus-ish similarities but stands confidently in it's own distinctively.
I've sampled aventus on skin multiple times, I really enjoy the scent but its performance sucks especially considering the price, there's obviously differences between the two but I really enjoy MontBlanc explorer, it's not "beastmode" but performs so much better for a fraction of the price! To me aventus is a waste of money! Great video as always
I had a bottle of Aventus that I purchased in 2017. Amazing fragrance- longevity, projection, complexity and beauty, etc. all were 10/10. Purchased a new bottle when I ran out in June 2024 from Creed’s US online boutique. I was shocked at how different it was, it was as if it was diluted and about 70% of the complexity was gone. Longevity was less than an hour, projection non-existent. To Creed’s credit they refunded me without hassle when I told them I couldn’t keep it. I will always remember that “old” bottle as maybe my favorite fragrance ever, but now I think it will never be possible to have it again 😢. Unfortunate that this prestigious house allowed this to happen. The difference was so pronounced, I would expect a qc department to not allow this new batch to be released for sale. It really tarnished the Creed name
I use to be in the vape juice industry and I've noticed making ejuice is almost exactly like making fragrances. You've got same scents made from different companies and each company varies. Its much like building a recipe and layering flavors by percentages to ultimately create the perfect outcome youre aiming for. Do fragrances get better with some age like ejuice? Not too much age but a couple months? I find this fascinating
Some people argue that some fragrances do get better after a few years but who really knows. Many stay good for over a decade but most people finish bottles well before 5 years, let alone 10.
Yes, from my own experience, for most fragrances, 2 months after first spraying is enough to notice a slight difference in scent profile and significant improvement in longevity and sillage
@@RealLockheedMartin I've heard the same. Someone said musks age well while citric fragrances and natural fragrances tend to be the ones that don't age the best
I agree, and being a diy ejuice mixer myself is what got me into fragrances in the first place. Figured it was similar, and wanted to get into perfumery but figured I better start wearing frags to see what I like/dislike before diving into perfumery. Learning some things about perfumery has changed my DIY approach, creating flavor accords and whatnot.
The original aventus is impossible to copy, creed can’t even do it.
They could, they choose not to for profit reasons.
To be honest i felt that with all my fragrances. The first time your nose smell something new it gets you excited, eventually the smell is not new and over time you get used to it. You just cant blame the creed, its some brain complexity.
they cant even if they wanted to bcs like 3 chems used are now banned in parfumery.
This is all your head.
This is fact.
Adding more of one of the materials would mess up the fragrance .
@@Ekiboy1 the most recent batch is great on my skin, 7-8 hours longevity & good projection for the first 2 hours
This is facts ! There’s the one person who’s like “ I get great performance and longevity “ well at their asking price , you da** sure better 😂
“Memed online super hard” 🤦🏻♂️
Very well put.
Agreed!
100% I am with you on this, is shameful what they do... And people still buy them
I sampled a few Creed’s the other day in a high street department store and none of them lasted more than an hour or so.
My Creed Aventus last over 12 hours on my skin. I could smell it while I was asleep in bed. The bottle I purchased is probably pre-2015.
@@mavericklewis4392 I have gotten compliments on Aventus 10 and 12 hours after spraying, by people that didn’t even get within a few feet of me.
@@StevenTwoTwo yeah, I really like it, sometimes I layer it with some Molecule 01.
I just encountered mfk gfs lmnop and it's very nice
I was in Nieman Marcus in Arizona and I went up to the Creed counter, I had the woman at the counter blast my arm with Aventus. In less than an hour it had disappeared entirely off of my arm and that right there stopped me from spending 400+ dollars at an overpriced store lol
Facts. I sampled it many times and really wanted to like it. The scent is good. A nice fresh scent. But the performance is so bad. It's almost insulting to charge $300-$400 for a fragrance that bad.
Sampled at store recently too I got a pleasant dry lemony opening then an hour later I couldn't smell it
Also I bought Barrett Fragrances version for Theo 2010 release. It’s a parfum that lasts all day.
Barrett Fragrances “Valhalla”

Thank you for this Aaron. My number 1 reviewer. You just opened my eyes and saved me some $$$
I love Aventus i first bought a bottle in 2011 then 2015 and my last bottle in 2019 and i can honestly say it has changed the 2011 bottle was amazing compared to the others i have owned.
The 2011 was godtier, 2015 was more fruitier heavy imo. 2019 never smelled it but i will try to get a sample.
@@RealLockheedMartin creed has done it regularly and incrementally since the fragrance's release. That's not how other companies do it
@@RichMitch yeah they're extra miserable, no question. They built up a reputation and have been cashing in pretty ruthlessly for the last decade.
Now Blackrock owns it 😂
And if reformulations start to be a problem, let's say because of IFRA and materials, then they should just end the production of the fragrance. Now they are cheapening it down and at the same time the price is going up. And because of UA-cam shills that are recommending this overpriced smelly water, clueless consumers will still buy this. Zero respect for Creed.
So relevant, so valid, so true. This comparison is much needed. Anyone still spending Creed Aventus prices need to reevaluate their entire situation.
Shits fire 🔥 very subtle and pleasant but masculine at the same time an fresh. If you want it to smell strong just up the sprays
Idk why but I love Explorer on colder days. Smells different. Feels refreshing.
I wore it for an appointment on Monday and had a compliment with a few minutes: “you smell nice!”
The scent trail lasts for several hours. I think it’s a more substantial fragrance than Creed. Just my opinion.
come on bro. Cant be real to say explorer is better than aventus creed
@@technofeeling2462everyone can have his own opinion
Its satisfying to see that I made good choice getting Explorer over other parfumes in same price range.
Great Comparison !! Would also love to see that Comparison between the original Creed and the reformulated one.
He already made one
Black Afghano from Nasomatto
Try it
Not a fan of it ... smells nothing like cannabis. It has slight hash notes, but they could be 3 times stronger for my taste ...
That's why Aaron is the best reviewer in the game. Many thanks for this, your clear review exactly matches my impression.
Another great review Aaron, realy enjoying watching your journey. Value your opinions on fragrances like so many others.
So 20 sprays pr hour every wearing. Thats what we need for people to smell it
@@andykay2802 I wear 4-5 sprays and refresh it later in the day.
I can honestly say that I have 100% bought all my fragrances after watching Aaron's reviews, he doesn't mess around 😊
Devestating review for Aventus, rightfully so. Pretty spot on.
I had 4 women go crazy at an office party over aventus on me. They said it was fantastic and memorable. So fuck it
Explorer may be powerful, but it's full of ambroxan, like many of today's fragrances.
My 2022 batch is completely useless.
Even the 2022 GIT is completely broken
My choice…ATH Haze Black. Beastly and smooth. One of 2 fragrances I have that pulls compliments after 10 hours!
My 2021 batch of Aventus smells amazing and lasts until I shower the next day. A masterpiece worth every penny.
Would you be so kind to share batch code? Thx
100%
Right, this is the advantage of synthetic ingredients.
I so appreciate you taking the time to review these fast food designer frags.I admit I tend to look for the more affordable but it seems like for the most part it is a waste. I do like some blue de channel but i would really like to adventure into the deep end of the pool.I love your reactions and have learned so much, thank you.
The Prince of Perfume is back with another great video!
You are always spot on. I appreciate your in depth comparison.
Thanks Aaron.
Great video ATH. Explorer all the way for me
I would love to see the aventus batch variations content, it would be interesting. Very good video
I did this at the beginning of my Journey.
Aventus now has a Mandarin Orange note instead of Pineapple (imo)
They removed a bit of the smoky incense that it was known for, and is needed to help cut through the citrus acid.
The mont blanc explorer is solid in my opinion.
Great review and congratulations on your 70k subscribers.
Whenever i go to a store and ask about batch variations with creed the salesperson just straight up says it’s a mith😂😂😂😂
I love this comparison themed videos!
Tried my friends Aventus EDT and wasn’t impressed, bought Explorer a week after and like it a lot.
Y'all need to watch this with headphones for the FULL ASMR affect hahaha. I love these videos.
Aaron you do such a great job.. I believe almost all Creed Aventus later batches have been seriously watered down or reformulated.. I can understand the different batch variations but I would never buy Creed Aventus at its prices..
A person is better off buying a clone
or Mont Blanc Explorer.
I would love to see the old and new batch comparison from you !!!
Never was into fragrance up until a few months ago and bought a bottle in December of 2022. Seems like the few times I’ve worn it that it’s performed pretty well. Of course, I wish I could have smelt the older batches to compare, but so far it hasn’t been too bad.
from which shop was it?
@@sayhellotoroy It was at a Saks Fifth Avenue local to my area
Edit: spelling
@@jackiechan7288 Oh ok. thank you. And what is the batch (LOT) number of your bottle?
I tested Aventus in December and after 1 hour I could barely smell it, I would never pay the price for it but I've always been curious of the hype, great video yet again Aaron
Great review 👍🏼 Love your haircut, a lot btw 👌🏼
I think the creed Aventus bottle I purchased was a 2017, starts off fruity and dries down to a very strong birch note.
I love the calmness of his voice! Well done mate, thanks for the review!
I do have a question where do you rank my favorite discontinued fragrance the YSL M7, the original one!? And how do you compare it to the newer one?
Nice video! It would be awesome if you brought back the darker background though.
My current favourite night out fragrance is Jeroboam Vespero, which some say is inspired by Aventus. I find it quite a lot richer.
I have 2011,12,14,15,16,17,18,19 & 20.
2011-2013
2013-2016
2017-2019
20-onwards
All of these years between them are vastly different. Personally my favorites are 2015 and 2016.
Layering is a great tip Aaron! Thanks!
Aventus smells completely different to me at times. Same bottle. It’s like it has two smells and i don’t know which one I’ll be smelling until I put it on.
Gracias por tus videos, eres un excelente maestro.
Enhorabuena.
Saludos desde Mexico
The black background was so much more elegant and unique
Thanks for such an honest review.
(see what happens)
Once I discovered Parfums De Marly I’ve never thought of Creed as much
Parfums De Marly is the king of dark fragrances AKA winter and fall fragrances, and Creed is the King of fresh fragrances.
Pdm also watered down their top sellers, I guess its common practice now..
Boutiques definitely let you smell older batches that performed better before they were bought out.
I used to work in Harvey Nichols and they don't do that. Batch codes of Aventus on the testers are 2021.
I have been told by the creed sales people that there is no such thing as a batch variance. That every batch made is carefully monitored to be the same as the last.
Everyone should read the book "Ghost Perfumer" by Gabe Oppenheim. It explains the rocky relationship between truth and Creed.
😂😂😂😂😂
My God people just love this content. I asked one of creed ambassadors the other day if they're formula has changed or if people were concerned that the performance has decreased because of different batches. "No we're the best fragrance company" was the jist of what they told me for 4th time. Just bought a $20 thing of ambroxan to boost my $30 cdnim because FUCK them
To boosts your CDNIM?! Damn! My bottle of CDNIM is an absolute beast. If i layered with ambroxen it might never come off and quite possibly kill someone 🤣🤣
@@-GIANT- exactly!!!!
@@-GIANT- Same here 😃
I just got a new bottle of Aventus today.
Thank you for this. It’s great to know I’m not crazy because I prefer Explorer over Aventus. I just think Explorer just smells better to me
Aaron, try the Armaf Club De Nuit Intense line against Aventus and Explorer.
Hi mate great content. just found your vids in the last few days and binge watched loads 😅 how do you recommend storing fragrances?
That’s my favourite organic molecule on your shirt!
Agnes is so lovely
13ZZ01 is apparently the Holy Grail of Aventus. Good luck finding that one.
@@wiredhatred I can definately see how learning a bit about perfumery helped you step up your ejuice game. I take it you watch diy or die??
