Gary Yamamoto Fat Ika is a great bait. RIgging it backward and put a nail sinker in the nose, it even could be greater. The backslide setting (In Japanese "バックスライドセッティング") is my favorite Ika setting even in open water.
This is a super popular technique in Japan.. I'd say If you ask Japanese Bass anglers "How to rig Fat Ika?". Probably, 90% would reply back "Reverse rigging. Back-slide!".
Cast it! Lift and free fall it at a weed edge! I'm using Kistler rods, Helium 3. This super-sensitive and powerful rod is a perfect buddy for Fat Ika!

Yeah. I used to be a bass angler when I was in NorCal. I miss bass fishing. SoCal is a nice place but less lakes and no river. Everywhere is so crowded too many people. A tough place for non-boaters like me.

I know in the west coast fat ika is very popular not so much on the east coast, Which is a shame " I love flipping the fat ika with a nail weight and I skin hook the side instead of traditional rigging when I'm fishing deep grass ..Is your rod a Kistler?

Yes. Kistler Helium 3. I like it. Fat Ika is popular in Japan, too. The company Smith publishing Fat Ika with Gary Yamoto International. Many color variations. But very expensive. Could be the most expensive soft plastic.

My favorite lure from G.Y.!! In my opinion it is the most versatile soft bait to fish from the bank .. If I had to choose to go fishing bass with only one bait it would surely be the fat ika!!
