There was an application process. Clearly, Eddie Howe didn't apply for the job and therefore was not interviewed. Had he done so, he still wouldn't have got the job because his record doesn't compare favourably with Thomas Tuchel. The FA have employed the best man available...I applaud them for that.
Seriously the same people keep saying they want to kick racism out of football then throw a hissy fit when the England job goes to a non English manager. The hypocrisy is unreal. Mad double standards.
It is no more racist to want an English manager than it is to accept the current eligibility criteria for players in international football. This sanctimonious nonsense needs to stop. I can wholly respect the the argument that the concept of the nation state is arbitrary and silly. But if that's what someone thinks, or if they can't suspend that disbelief, then it is club football that suits them. If you buy into international football, you've already bought into national limits for players, the same principle doesn't magically become racist when applied to managers.
2 nationalities we have always had an almost visceral reaction of dislike bred into us by elders: Germans and Aussies. I've gotten over the German thing a long time ago. Aussie coaching Spurs, so the hate is ramped up 😬🤷🏻♂️
This whole Tuchel thing highlights the real problem here for me. Some people are asking why we didn't hire an English manager, but the truth is, apart from Eddie Howe, there really aren't any. Big Sam, Pardew, Hodgson or Pulis...all yesterday's men. Why are there so few proper English managers?
On the comment about earning stripes in the championship/spl and then heading abroad, I think people should keep their eyes on Liam Rosenior, brilliant job at Hull City taking them from relegation fodder to promotion contenders. Sacked for finishing one place outside of the playoffs last season (Hull fans know this was ridiculous) now at Strasbourg who have consistently been bottom half in Ligue 1, and has them grinding out results against top teams. One to watch, for either a decent prem job or who knows, one day maybe, the England job. "His nanas from 'ull, His nanas from 'uuuuuuuullllll" LIAM ROSENIOR His nanas from 'ull!" (She isnt)
The German part is irrelevant for me. I work for a German company and have no problem wit it. With that said, St George's Park was introduced to bring through not only better players but also better coaches. With the FA having to bring in a foreign coach means something isn't working.
I get that, and if Tuchel had been given a 4 year contract, I would have seen it as the FA abandoning their model, but as it is it's just for 18 months.
I can understand peoples frustration that love international football but for me I don’t have the buzz for it so I don’t care who our manager is but tuchel is a great appointment
My opinion is that the top 20 or 30 countries in the world should apply the same residency rules to the manger as the players. That isn’t the rule though so they can hire whoever they like! 6 million is nothing these days wtf
I agree, then I would never have to be afraid of england winning a tournament for my entire life. If england with tuchel has even half as much luck as they had with southgate then they will win at least one of the next three tournaments (unfortunately)
Mark’s found about 4 different ways to pronounce Tuchel.
Fr 😂

Liam Rosenior has gone to manage in France, if only more young English coaches would do the same.

brendon rogers 💪
Sean Dyche four four fucking two
Because it’s not the english Premier League, it’s a Premier League that resides in England
@@izino Rogers isn't English.
How much did you know of Fuente and Scaloni before they won senior tournaments?
YES. I used to pray for times like this.
In the famous words of Drake "Started from the bottom now we're here"😤🤩

Tuchel is better than ETH, end of discussion.
"60 years without a bloody trophy"
Says this as though England didn't hire foreign managers within that time.
The English should remember their royal family is German.
Nah, the media and the "pundits" would have welcomed Jürgen Klopp with open arms
I feel like you're right, but why do you feel the reaction would have been different?
Get Alex Ferguson Scottish 😂😂
Mark would be different if Tuchel was appointed United manager
wtf is with that blokes hair, did they use a lawn mower?
You probably don't even have any hair anymore.
Refuse to talk about a manager like a player should be english opinion
Claiming to read people's minds in order to smear them is pretty low.
The English are immune to victory.
Where did this guy play football?

I think he is a good signing. I just think its embarrassing for the FA after the amount of money they have put into St George's Park.
Who cares if we care or not stop engagement farming. He's manager whether we like it or not so what's there to talk about
Lets be honest no english managers are any good, i think hes a decent manager

Its only 18 months contract relax mate sack him if he doesnt bring us trophy
There are other differences between Pep and Tuchel than their nationality.
😂😂the players in the premier league r Europe s an south Americans 96 percent when has it ever come home
South gate s on his way mark to old Trafford you must be pleased 😂
Woke-Bridge

You pushed away the only manager to ever reach a major final outside of the UK. I foonhope for another 60 years. The UK curse of the bambino
the only one to reach two finals and properly bottle it.
for god's sake don't say "funny enough" mark. is it really that hard to say the word "funnily"
England players r Irish
Cry more
