- Does Anyone Care about the Thrustmaster T-GT II in 2025? GT7 (PSVR2) - In this video I talk about using a belt drive wheel in 2025 which is the Thrustmaster T-GT II. This is a premium wheel based on older technology compared to Direct Drive, but does that mean the T-GT II is obsolete? This wheel offers great FFB compared to other wheels within its price range and also includes a transducer used in Gran Turismo 7 that offers vibrations and road feel through your entire rig. In this video we are racing at Interlagos in GT7 on PSVR2 for Daily Race B.

Great! I can't see how anyone would be disappointed with it. Is there better out there? Of course, but that doesn't mean the T-GT II doesn't offer a great racing experience!
I went from T300 to the T598 when it released and Im more than happy with it. The new GT7 update makes it feel even better now

Hi, I've been following your videos for a while and I want to thank you !
I started a year ago with a T248.
I moved on a T300rs a few months after. Then a T598 at the end of 2024 and I've been sooooooo frustrated since I got it !!!
I admit it is precise and accurate but I just don't feel any strength anymore in the wheel... That smoothness everybody talk about actually makes me feel like a T300 after 25min when it loses half of his power ! 🥺
So, a little bit because of you, I ordered a second hand T-GT 2 for 200€ to compare and 😳😯😲😱 !!!

It's tough, powerful, makes my whole rig trembling... This is exactly the driving I was looking for ! Maybe not as precise as a DD but hey, I've always been a blues person rather than jazz so...
I'll keep my T598 until it is properly integrated to GT7 and then I'll make my choice but I've honestly nothing bad to say about that T-GT 2 ! ❤

I know it probably doesn't matter but I thought I'd mention that when playing in VR, I removed the front windscreen banner to get a better view out the windscreen. Makes no difference to some people as the focus is the track but for me I feels better.
Yeah tgt-2 still best for gt7. I bought and returned the t598 twice. The tech just feels like hype right now. Only used it in gt7 though. May feel better in other games.
Thanks for the video! I agree with everything you stated and the reasons behind it. In addition I'm sure many like myself have a sizeable investment in the Thrustmaster ecosystem. In addition to the TGT2, I have the T-LCM Pedals, EVO 32R Leather wheel and 4 other wheels and 2 shifters. So as Casual stated I am real good with the TGT2 until Thrustmaster comes out with something better than the T598.
Yeah, I have Simagic Alpha for PC with whole extruded aluminium cockpit and seat mover, but now I'm thinking about buying T-GT II for PS5
TGT I & 2 are the best wheel for gt7. I have the original one ☝🏽 still works great. Also own a DD fanatec setup and still can’t get rid of my old faithful

O have the T-GT II and I dont think change it, its perfect it fits well and have all the add-ons that you need, and believe you dont need all of them
I've been using the TGT II for 6 months now and I love it, especially for GT7. I'm currently building a collection of different steering wheels and won't be needing a DD for now. Thanks for your videos, you've got my sub!

Addressing the subject here; we all want what we think will make us the fastest we can be. Racing itself is a very competitive 'sport' and everyone wants the advantage that could make them 1 position better. As I've experienced for myself, and also listened, conversed with others it boils down to this; you become accustomed to the tools you use to get the job done. Over time you become highly efficient with said tools. The bottom line is, you can be fast with pretty much any controller system, even the handheld one that comes with the playstaion. What makes you faster is; natural controller skill, racing IQ, experience, and general aptitude for learning GT7 (or sim-racing in general). Buy what appeals to you the most, in looks, function, and budget. If it is truly something you are passionate about, you'll make it work. There are top split racers using any of the gear you can think of. They MADE it work because they are passionate.

I'm top split in OCE and on a g923 and VR so you're 100% correct.
What I love about this community: if a manufacturer comes out with new tech/gear that's not supported in their older equipment, there's someone who will make a good quality mod that will apply to that old gear making it compatible with the new tech/gear. Eg: simube, SRM, etc
I've been using my T-GT 2 for a couple years, love it and have no plans of buying a direct drive wheel. Until something happens with it where I can't use it anymore. It just doesn't makes sense to spend the money.
I bought one around Christmas time and I’m extremely happy! Didn’t like the actual wheels on the other options. 🙂

Love my T GT 2, but unfortunately I'll be going over to Fanatec very shortly. Just ordered the DD Extreme bundle and the CSL Elite V2 pedals. Only reason is the pedals being to close together started giving me discomfort, and I'm too impatient to wait for Thrustmaster to come out with their load cell raceline pedals.

I really doubt the T598 will do more honestly. They need to come out with something similar to the T818 for console. DD is just a big hype!

Nothing touches a DD imo. It's extremely hard to make a "low quality" DD wheel simply because it's such a simple concept. Don't get me wrong. My CSL Elite PS4 wasn't a bad wheel. But it's peanuts compared to my DD Pro. The instant feedback is worth so much. Especially when catching slides or making super tiny adjustments
I'm happy with my nine year old T-150. The thing about wheels.. it's a true 'ignorance is bliss' product. I haven't experienced any other wheel yet.

Thank you so much as always.tgt2 is a top notch unit. Although pretty dated to its dd competition..it's STILL a competitor and that says ALOT.i want the dd experience but I'm happy to wait for a serious 10nm application from thrustmaster not a 5nm toaster oven😂😂love your stuff brother

I have two of those 🙂 have one on a playseat challenge X Logitech that is for friends when they come over and the other is on my Playseat Trophy. I have looked at many upgrades, but in the end... i like the wheel and i don't see myself switch anytime soon. The FFB is more then enough for me and have a ton of wheels for the TM eco system, so i'm staying with the T-GT II's till they both die... and even then i might get a new one from TM or the T818.
The standard rim is also very nice (you really don't need anything more... telling my self this and still looking at the 488 GT3 rim.... haha)
But yeah ur right it's a fantastic wheel! Don't let you get hyped by YTers on new wheels, most of they DD wheels have higer failure rates then they tell you (most are sponsort reviews) the really good DD wheels will cost you 1200+ just for the base. The trackrecord for the T-GT and T-GT II is pretty good as far i;ve seen.
Just enjoy your games and if you like what you have then it's all good.

I buy a tgt2 a week later i m happy with it moving from a t300 with f599x wheel. The tgt is much better with this wheel. I m sad about the transducteur that is very weak , i regret to try this before the update for test at his full potential.
Yeah, the transducer used to feel more pronounced, but you still feel all the nuances of the track and grip through it still.
With gt games on ps4/ 5...the tgt2 is an awesome wheel with the built in transducer. It would have sold a hell of a lot more units if they opened up the transducer with all games. They drop the ball on the tgt family

Got the base, not the wheel, would I buy a direct drive?, dont think so, I’m happy with what I use, the T-GTll base, ferrari 488 GT wheel, sometimes the sparco P310. T-LCM pedals.
I only play gran turismo, and I’m happy with what I have, works fine for me 🏎️👌🏻😎

TGT2 is a great wheel. I used to have great time with it on GT7. I do agree with all what you have said. Nevertheless, I replaced it a couple of years ago with a Logitech Gpro. i can only advise you this choice in the event you want to pass on a direct drive (you’ll get the progressivity of a direct drive without any compromise as for vibrations). If you could make a comparative video test that would be brilliant Cas’ 😊
I am sure the Logitech Gpro is great and nice step up. Wish they would send me one to review. LOL

Compared it to my friends fanatec club sport 2 ,this comparison made me respect my decision.
I will upgrade but not yet.

I have a G pro. Yeah it was $1000 originally and now I have shifter and handbrake. I’ll be getting the new quick hub and different rims too. It’s all expensive but I look at the hours put in using it. I have probably $3000 in my set up. I also have over 1000 hours on it. And I’ll probably put 3000 more on it. That being said I had just as much fun with my old belt drive wheel and really the only upgrade I’ve ever done that I can say legitimately made me faster was the g pro pedals. The rest is just immersion.

My TGT II is starting to pack up. After 2.5 years of serious use. Its starting to overheat and shut off in the middle of my races now. I've had to reduce the power to 80% and its getting worse Which means I will have to drop the power even more. I own about 5 Thrustmaster wheels. But at this stage I have to look towards DD. I want to keep my GT7 Support. But I also don't want to break the bank right now. I'm moving countries this year and I need to keep my costs down. Actually my most reasonable option would still be to get another TGT
II. Otherwise I'm looking at Fanatec. Simagic is also an option but will be more expensive. But in my current part of the world by the time I've payed shipping and customs it gets expensive. But I agree up until recently I've been more than happy with the TGT II.

I was gonna get the direct drive TM but After watching your videos in recent months I’ll stick with my TGT 2…… I want more power than the TGT 2 with thrustmaster eco system on PlayStation

Tgt2 servo and wheell in my country was in promotion i buy it and not the t598 im using at 3weeks and still i didnt get it right in configurations

What issue are you having? There aren't many settings to play with if you are using it in GT7.

Recently bought a T300 RS GT 3 pedal package brand new for £250 off Amazon to replace my g29. Im loving it. Im a casual gamer and play for pleasure .

Bought it a couple of months ago to replace my G923. I just like so much all that "shaking the rig" features so not so many options I have. Of course there is Logitech Pro Racing Wheel but it a little bit pricey.

Hi i fully understand where your coming from i started off with a g29 then purchased a TGT 1 i stuck on a rally sparco 33cm wheel and tlc pedals so much more realistic !! I have had my TGT since launch which was i think 2017 ? Ive never had any problems with it and it doesnt even get luke warm after several hours of sim racing !! The forcefeed back is excellent in rallying you need the wheel fairly light so as to make lightning fast corrections or inputs, so for example in EA WRC 2024 i have the wheel SAT ( self aligning torque ) at just 40 . So im not using no where near the full 6nm that its capable of , so why would i buy a more expensive wheel to get more Nm ? I have read by other tgt 1 & 2 owners that they were rather disappointed in the feel of the new T598 direct axial drive wheel compared to the tgt wheels so i have decided when the time comes to upgrade i will be purchasing the TGT 2 wheel base over the T598 !! which i can get for around £350 t0 £400 and yes im very fond of my tgt wheel and i stand tall and proud to own one !! its all you others who are missing out !!

Tgt2 is proper
I bought this wheel last year and had to return it due to the noise, poor connector quality (the pedal connector was flimsy as f), and the steering feel.
I've been using a GT DD Pro 8NM since December, and that has been much better after I upgraded to QR2 on both sides. Fanatec's shipping, customer care, and ecosystem cost are the main drawbacks of the wheel.

I'm still waiting when t598 will finally receive full support in t7. How could they release new hardware that wasn't supported by the desired game two months after its debut.

The T-GT II is a nice step up from the t300, so you can not base it on being the same tech. Not to say plenty of people will enjoy the T598, which I would say is a step up from the t300.

There is no excuse to not buy a dd wheel now.
That might be true if you don't own anything yet, and it's your first initial purchase. My question here is whether it's worth spending at least $800 to purchase a direct drive wheel to replace a T-GT II that will offer at least something as strong or stronger when it comes to FFB.
I recently bought a TGT, not the TGT-II and it has the same features and feelings as the tgtII, and it’s awesome! I come from a g29 and tried other wheels but this one lets you really feel the car, specially when losing control it lets you feel the grip of the car. I’m a casual racing gamer and it’s more than I expect to enjoy my gt7 Psvr2 racing. I recommend it still in 2025
