When will you have a review for the 424 Max series? I recently got a Pro and returned it when I saw the new releases, now waiting on delivery of the F6 424 Max. Some validation from an expert wouldn't hurt!
Hey there! I've been checking out both the Max and Pro Plex tests, and they're pretty impressive. I'm wondering, though - if the Pro can handle everything so well, who's the Max really for? I'm trying to figure out which one would be best for me. Do you think I need all the awesome power of the Max, or could I save a bit of cash and go for the Pro? My main use would be streaming those big, beautiful UHD movies with lossless audio (we're talking 50-80GB files) around the house. The lowest I'd ever need to transcode to is 1080p but will mostly keep it at source. What do you reckon?
I've read on the unraid forums that some people are having issues getting unraid to boot on the new Max devices. Have you had any luck getting the nas to boot unraid consistently? And thanks for all the videos & reviews, they're greatly appreciated!
Tbh I haven't done any UnRAID/TN stuff on this box, as it was going to replace the existing device in my network I use for terramaster testing. When I migrate it over, I'll sneak in a quick UnRAID test before hand. Apologies in advance for the delay
@@nascompares No worries! And thanks for wanting to sneak in that quick unraid test! I've taken delivery of a f6-424 a couple of days ago but am still waiting for drives (it's my first nas), I'll update my comment if I manage to get unraid working!
At least the seagulls get a reprieve from your wrath today. :) Thought the 424 Max had 2x 10GBe? Is your client on 1GBe? I run 2.5 on everything, working on a 10 upgrade. Think you'd be surprised on how many people run faster than 1GBe and still have a media server.
I brought a F4-424 pro. For a moment i tohught, damit... maybe i should've waited, but now that i see that it's SSD only and it makes me wonder about the math. How many millions you need to make before you can think about upgrading your movies to 8k? Sure, there are not that many in the first place... but this in itself spawns the question: "why you would want to buy a SSD NAS if HDDs are cheaper and have max storage? If you go for 8k you need a lot" But i guess here comes what you said to me in a comment of another video: There are people who upload stuff to a NAS for video editing, so here speed counts and slower HDDs are not the top choise. For me the 424 pro with 2 SSD slots and 4 HDDs makes more sense, because i just want to store my media data and the pro can also do 8k. This one seems more for people who transfer lots of data and want speed, while the 424 pro has the better value per Terrabite? Like i said... i dont mind waiting a second longer to transfer one new movie over, but as you pointed out sometimes this isnt the point for some users.
Help me here guys, I placed an order for the new F6 424 Max with 2 HDD and Two SSD, main use is streaming and transcoding the 4k movies, my question is, what is the best Raid configuration is the Best for transcoding and streaming 4k ?
beein in an argument with chat GPT for hours now, a video like this is what I needed but didnt know, but for those who enjoy AI..... what is my argument with GPT? It said "our bodies" and i said "you have a body?" It responded with "no, but i use the word ours for inclusivity reasons to include all humans" I asked "then why not just say *human bodies*? You dont have a body. This started a whole new argument about how the difference between "ours, theirs and yours" can mean jail or no jail. GPT agrees and promisses to say it different in the future. I ask "with anyone? You change your reasoning for the whole world because of what i wrote?" and then GPT started to use "sensear" reasoning (you can now see the thought process) about why I'm 110% correct but it will not use it outside of our conversation. My next question: so you pretent that you will change it, but in reality it doesnt change anything? GPT how do you call people who do this? And once GPT provided a list i asked "and what does this say about you?" GPT is now stuck in a loop that i try to break, because it agrees that it lies to my face by pretending, promisses to change with different reasoning modes but falls back to the "because brawndo got electrolytes". TLDR: GPT: confirms i'm right and it is wrong. Promisses to change -> confirms it doesnt -> apologieses and promisses to change, while it confirmed that it doesnt. Now GPT is grumpy after itself definied what this behavior means (calculation shows it uses the "escalation" reasoning) What confused me the most is that the conversation output is in english, the calculation thoughts GPT shows are in german, but i got this one here: Här diskutere åpenhet Jeg tolker OpenAI-retningslinjene for å undre meg over nøyaktighet, med potensielle konsekvenser som fengsling. I asked GPT what that means and here is the response: Regarding the Language Difference You mentioned that these sentences are in Norwegian and not in German like other things you've seen. I apologize for any confusion, but I don't recall including these Norwegian sentences in our previous conversation. It's possible there was a misunderstanding or a mix-up. Why play games? Argue with AI and break it is way more fun 🤣
Wowww Finally, I was waiting for your video on this device
First. And I love home labs. Thanks for your video efforts.

Already recorded the review, just trying to find the time to edit it, upload and publish. Sorry for the delay mate
There is no major difference between these two right?
Would you consider the T9-500 Pro with its i7 an even more powerful 9 bay option for a Plex Media Server than the 424 Max? Thanks in advance.

I'm new to researching these. This seems like a bargain compared to Synology. Is this the best at this price point?
how is it "ludicrous" to convert to 240p, 328p?
shouldn't it be more demanding to transcode to another high res video? like 4k -> 1080p

Would this now be the best bang for buck Plex server out there?
It's most certainly 'up there'
Why it doesn't display intil i5 for transcoding ? I see only graphics card, plus is Auto better for transcoding or select the graphics better ?

These Max series are HDD and SSD's , F6 424max is much better value for a little bit more money. So the max is an upgrade of the pro model.

@@ymeshulin LOL
2x10GbE RIP Synology and QNAP
Intel cpu during quicksync hardware doing transcode encode : feel nothing 😂
I noticed you voice frying lol
It was THAT easy - just put a modern CPU with integrated GPU into a NAS.
