incredible work, I have laowa 90mm macro 2x, and waiting some extenders to try to make something similar
Some amazing techniques shown off here! Macro photographers like you're yourself are the definition of dedication.
Such dedication and patience.
Fantastic images! You show more than I have seen before the full potential of this lens. Ingenious hardware creations for automation.
It's fascinating to view such close-ups. Excellently filmed .
Wow! That’s a lot of work for you plus the stacking- though the results are phenomenal. Great work!
Absolutely stunning images. Bravo !
Wow, incredible outdoor macro techniques!
I love your videos and can't believe how lucky I was to stumble upon your channel. Your attention to detail is fantastic and love how you've DIY'ed so many different setups. A great inspiration!
thanks
Incredible. This is beyond practial though and is reaching into the ridiculous levels of difficulty. You have far too much patience and dedication, impressive!
Awesome images, Stephane!!📷👏👏👏
I looking for a new macro lens..and have seen many videos in past few days..but man, this is extreme..keep up! Your work is insane!!
A otro nivel, gracias por compartir tan bonito y profesional trabajo
sooo epic! a bit intimidating to start doing this. but I absolutely loved it and I loved the explanation! thank you
You Sir are an artist, great work!
Спасибо за столь увлекательную и познавательную презентацию!
incredible footage
Beautiful shots!
Very nice work, I think I will try it, so far I was at x3.5 with a 55mm inverted on a 105mm micro.
Stunning. Thanks for sharing your workflow. I'm in the throws of upgrading to a lens like this after testing extension tubes. Still deciding on magnification. I might just stick with 1:1 or 2x. Anything more is too extreme for me.
De sublimes photos macro 😍
Ca demande énormément de technique, bravo Stéphane.
Philippe
Just wonderful, the best that i saw so far,
impressive images and technique. Thanks for sharing

Contact Laowa...just bought this after watching your vid, can't wait to take my macro-mushroom pics up a notch. Thanks Stephane...#subscribed
Magnifique j'adore !
Awesome! Thank you!
Bonne continuation Stephane. National Geographic 2022 !
Merci l'ami !
Great shots! Can you show any samples without stacking?
Amazing!
Amazing 👏
Dude your photos are insane!!!!!
Could you tell me what’s that machine you used to pull focus??
Very very nice I was wondering if this lens is possible for eye iris photography
you are a God of Macro :)
Wow impressive!!!
awesome
I am very impressed with your ingenious solutions for field stacking! I came up with a very similar device but it was too bulky for practical use in the field. I am working on a new system that uses the tiny sled stepper motors from DVD drives, but they lack the torque to drive the NiSi rail accurately. What motor are you using with the rail - it looks like a regular DC motor - and what are you driving it with? Thanks for sharing this excellent footage! Allan
to control the dc moteur in outdoor i use this guy, only for continuous rotation
www.ebay.fr/itm/255548064979
the motor is like this one but at 45 rpm
www.servocity.com/precision-spur-gear-motors/
the coupling part is smth like that :
www.gotronic.fr/art-coupleur-d-axes-5-5-mm-cl1m55-26414.htm
or
www.gotronic.fr/art-machoire-d-accouplement-10-mm-cl12-10-33140.htm
indoor to be accurate i use an arduino and a l298n , you can make a run stop shoot run
www.robotshop.com/en/dc-motor-driver-module.html
the motor is a 6 rpm
i think the best way is to use a step motor but i don't have this skill

Hi Allan, perhaps you could do an interview with Stephane on your channel !? 😉
Perfect !! What is the brand of your rail, and is it with the motor included ?
great
Thanks for making this. I just bought the lens and happen to also shoot the R6. Im shopping rails now. Can I ask how you got so many exposures so fast? Jpeg?
with the R6 i use an high speed card in raw, the buffer/RAM can shoot continuously at 20 img/sec during 6 or 7 seconds (numeric shutter) . as i use no flash in outdoor with the diy motorized rail the parameters are 2,8 to be as faster as possible (about 1/200 or 1/320) . i use helicon focus. but i guess the jpg is the best way.
❤❤❤!!!
AMAZING! 💓
This lind of Macro is what Im interested in... Is it possible to acquire the mechanical setup that you have?
It à simple do it yourself motor drive by a basic variations or à L298N with arduino . the rails used is are from Nisi and Proxxon. The tripod à cullman one.
Wow! Very 👍
Wow!
Great shots with the ants when they were eating in food, were any of them focus stacked? I was suprised that some of them wherein sharp focus from the front to the back!
if you talk about the footage at 14sec, i chosse an APC-c sensor, add 2 leds spots , and close a little bit the aperture, increased the ISO, and try to reach 1/50sec. all the little trick to have a bigger deep of fied in video. i don't know how canon manage the sensor in full HD video, but the deep of filed is not sod bad. for a 20mpx picture it is another story.
Fascinating. I was thinking of buying this lens for Canon R6 Mk II. Which software do you used to do the focus stacking? Great job
Thanks. Helicon focus. .. there is a lot of discussion between helicon and zerene stacker . Helicon is faster .
Thanks so much. One more thing…. in your video you show some 3D computer generated devices which you seem to use on controlling camera position and maybe focus. What are these and how can someone get them? Do you have a video on them?
I have canon rebel t6..is laowa 24mm compatible? or Do I need some adapter?
What is that automatic motor on the tripod which is used to zoom
hey man ,love your shots. Is it possible to get similar quality/ ultra macro without having a rail? I know how to focus stack, but could similar effect be achieved just by closed aperture plus strong flash + diffuser? or is focus stacking always better?
the issue is the aperture, at F11 most of lenses create diffraction, and the image become less and less sharp. it get worst at F14 F22 etc.. another way could be use a macro lense with a shorter focal combine with a small sensor. a micro four third mcro lense with a Olympus OMD is a good combo.
@@stephanesimoens51 appreciate the response! I use the sony 90mm 2.8 macro and have also the raynox 250 extension.. you are right though i just hope to avoid complex post processing :D and for some reason always have issues with focus stacking (i do it handheld not with a rail)
Nice video. Which rail are you using at 2:40?
Nisi rail modified with a DIY DC motor 12v
good works. what extender you are using?
Sigma x2 and à short 12mm tube
Amazing!!! Which x2 extender do you use?
Old sigma x2
With a short 12mm tube to avoid clash between lens and extender
how did you setup the camera to take continuous photos whilst on the focusing rail outside? @2:25
The idea is to kept the same speed abd try to be at 1/200 at least. 1/500 is better. During 1/500 sec the mouvement is so short tgat there is almost no difference with à fix position. But if you move too fast the deep of field is too narrow to cover the displacement
Superb! How do manage to take more than 100 pics in just seconds??? Where can I get the motor?
Shoot in burst mode with the Electronic shutter to avoid vibration. While shooting the mouvement Nevers stop. It is a Do it yourself design.
The head of the ant is impressive. Can an extender lens be added to the Laowa 25? explain it to me please
Yes. The contactors of the extender are cover by a tape. So the dslr does not detect the électronic and works well. I add a short extender tube between the lens and the extender to avoid clash. I tried with x2 and x1.4 on apsc and it was close to x20. But the top of the laowa is very close to the subject.
Wow
I like no insect were hurt for this video !!!
All dead subjects were found already dead in autum and even in the begining of winter for the ant. More respect for living animal is important for me
Did you make your own "motor" for the macro slider ? If so ... which type of motor ? Question : why use the 25mm instead of a 90mm ?
peed regulator MFA 919D2P
CC motoréducteur HPCB 3046 1/1000 POLOLU
gear setup here for 3d printing, fit only with the first release of the NISI rail : grabcad.com/library/gears-for-nisi-rail-first-model-of-the-rail-1
i own only the 25mm
I'm curious; if the insects are dead why do you need to shoot in such a short time. I appreciate it makes things easier, but if I can't afford a motorised system can I manually stack using a macro focus rail ?
I stack in burst mode with living animals. You can the fly moving on the video. Check my Last video on this channel.
I thought at F16 there is way too much diffraction to get a clear image. How did you manage to get those?
right ! F11 is better, i always try several aperture if i can.
@@stephanesimoens51 From what I read, at 5X, diffraction starts even at f4
which lights did you use for the lab stacking?
3 or 4 godox led 64 with tracing parper for a better light diffusion. but a 5w light can work too, until you add something to diffuse the light. hte idea is also to not making too mush heat.
@@stephanesimoens51 oh i think these will be perfect. i need good video lights for macro stacking, which can be powered externally but also because i dont want to use flashes inside my room. Thanks
Can you tell me more about the motorized slider?
it is a DIY NISI modified rail
to control the dc moteur in outdoor i use this guy, only for continuous rotation

Hi which mororised rail is that ?
It is a DIY modified NISI rail, here my last version design:
speed regulator MFA 919D2P CC
motoreductor HPCB 3046 1/1000 POLOLU
gear setup here for 3d printing, fit only with the first release of the NISI rail :
grabcad.com/library/gears-for-nisi-rail-first-model-of-the-rail-1
It will be working with fujifilm xt3 or not
the XT3 electronic shutter is about 11 images/sec it could works, but i have no idea how many time it can do it (buffer ) . you may also try in 4k video.
how did y made the rail.
It is a NISI rail coupling with a motoreductor with a 3d printing design (DIY)
You should get like 1000000000 views
I am a great macro photographer 📸 too
Really wish my A7RV could do 120fps in RAW. But no I'm stuck with 7 FPS I think 😂
ua-cam.com/video/SvEXiqnrCQY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MaximilianWeinzierl
use video 8k
2:25 what is this device called??
it is a cc brushed motor controller like a 919D2PR in a diy box
It's very hard to shot.
😅 😅 ne😅 Ann
Amazing!
Wow !
