Beautiful set-up, Myke. More importantly, you understand the importance of utilizing the equipment you have. Congrats on your channel's success and good luck with the haircut. Note- as hair grows, the coefficient of kinetic friction as you move throughout the kit increases; thus, your movement around may be hindered, just a hair. 😊😊😊😊

    Heeeeyyyyy! The Simmons cometh🤘😎🤘
I love that you have set up an electronic kit, like Neil Peart! I also love that you cut old crashes down to bells. That’s exactly how Gavin Harrison ended up with his LH bell set. Very cool!
And I love the maple pancakes comment! 🤣😆🥞
And you’ve got a 22” Swish Knocker! Simon Phillips has been playing one of those for about 40 years! Great choice!
And you’re set up like Mangini! I have a lot of respect for him (and you!) being able to play that way, but the transpositions from traditional kit setup must be (as you say) a massive headache!
Back in the 80s, I used to have 6/8/10 rotos too! I loved them to bits, and if I went acoustic, I’d get rotos again. I look forward to hearing those Myke.
I can’t believe you had moans about your intro titles. Do people not have a sense of humour anymore? They were freakin funny!
Thanks for sharing, Myke! This was one of the most interesting UA-cam videos I’ve seen in ages!
    Happy 2025 mate! 🍻👍🤘🤘

I'm glad you dug it, Dean! I've already (as of about an hour ago) filmed my Jan/Feb covers, and I think people are gonna enjoy 'em.
The 22" Swish Knocker was inspired by Chris Whitten, when he toured with Paul McCartney and Dire Straits between '87/'92. I think I'm on my third one by now because I kept breaking them, lol. Hopefully I can get a new one soon.

I love when you do your kit walkthroughs man. Such an amazing setup. I tried doing the mangini style Tom setup, but it really is hard to get used to. Cool if you just doing single strokes, maybe doubles. But anything fast melodically, I just couldn't get down.
If you need any help being an arrogant ass with your quips at the end, just let me know. I'm much better than you are at that, Uncle fu***r.
Happy New Year man. I hope you have many more thousand subscribers by 2026.

Dude, you're hilarious. "This one has a hole in it from when I lost my temper". 🤣🤣 If you do another one similar to this in the future, there's a couple things I would love to see. I would love to see your microphones, what kind of I/O box they go into, software you're using, your mix etc. I would also love to see you cutting down those cymbals to make bells. I have one broken cymbal right now that I could probably do that to. Great video man.

      Glad you dug it, man!
      To answer your questions:
I use Pyle mics. They're a "pyle" of garbage, but they're cheap enough for someone living in Trudeau's economy to afford while still also being able to eat.
I currently use a Focusrite Saffire interface, with an ART Tube Opto preamp expansion, but I'll be replacing the Focusrite this year as it doesn't interact with a wordclock, and as a result, every recording I've done for youtube thus far has had each track out of sync with every other track (by milliseconds, sure, but it's annoying to have to fix every single time, lol)
I'll do a video about it all when I update my system (probably summer of 2025).
As for the cymbals, I don't cut them down myself, I used to know a machinist who did it for me at his shop, but I lost access to him in a divorce, so I'm SOL until I buy my own circle-cutting machine.

I can have this kit up in 10 minutes, and down in less. I take it to every gig. If the band has to play outside the venue, so be it.
