Santa Cruz is a brand that needs no introduction. A company that has been making bikes since 1994, Santa Cruz is considered to be one of those companies that are at the forefront of bike innovation. The company produces everything in-house, including their world-renowned Reserve Wheels. They are known for quality, capability, and top-of-line bikes.
We got the opportunity to ride the new Santa Cruz Heckler SL for a couple months. Let me tell you, this bike was fast and FUN!!
Right off the bat, my first impressions is:
Climbing- efficient
Descending- playful
Weight- What weight? The weight of the bike (42.5lbs) was a non-issue!
Motor- Fast
Range- Capable

Hell yeah! Geometry is king. Standover is the most overlooked thing and most important. That is the number one thing I look at.
Totally!! I’m glad I’m not the only one 😂
Totally agree! As a gorilla shaped little legged fellow who rides M and L frames it’s hard to find the right bike that has the reach I need but I can still straddle without smashing anything important.
You knocked this one out of the park! Great review and great editing.
Means a lot! Stoked!! Thank you!!
Good review and awsome bike , can’t wait for try one .
Thank you! You should def try one!
You nailed this review. I too have the Small frame for the Heckler SL and it’s so much fun!
Stoked you love yours! Where do you ride?
Ride mostly inland empire area. You mentioned you haven’t tried it at a bike park. I got mine right after it released and got 2 days at Snow Summit before they closed for the season and also Skypark. (Rode it just Friday at Skypark!)This thing LOVES to jump. Its poppy nature makes it a natural at bike parks.
Thank You for this! I’m 5ft on a good day and I rode a Small Heckler SL in a parking lot. I’m concerned with the reach. I have an XS 5010c and got a longer stem for more reach, but the Heckler SL definitely feels like a bit of a reach, the standover height was good for me, the longer wheelbase I am comfortable with but still on the fence about purchasing one because of the reach.
Is there a way you can demo one and get it out a trail to try it out? Or is there a way the shop and add an longer stem for you and push the seat forward a bit?
That thing looks dope as hell
It really is!
Curious what your inseam measurement is?
Great review. How does this compare to cannondale moterra sl?
Thank you! We haven't been able to get one to demo yet... But hopefully soon! We are releasing a review the Transition Relay soon. Be sure to subscribe! :)
Hi, what is your seat of choice?
I have the specialized Power pro with Mirror, and Specialized Power Comp with MIMIC.
You know what would be a great video for a 'woman's' mtb channel? A video showing how to set up front/rear shocks for women who weigh 120lbs or less.
We’re currently working on a mechanic series that will cover this! Stay tuned 😊
May I ask how tall you are?
I'm 5'4.5 Feet which is 163mm. Which I say during the review :)
@@womensmtbnetwork sorry, it was not easy for me to understand. I am 1,65 m. I am afraid, that the bike is to short for me, but i can't try out enywhere
@@giancarlovitolo8651 No worries at all! I should've put the size in cm as well :).
Where are you located? Maybe we can help you find one!
@@womensmtbnetwork I come from germany. No Chance, to try an bike in s. But didn't you say during the review, that in your opinion it is a little bit to short?
Yeah, i felt that for my height it was small. I would've preferred the medium. But the bike was still super fun! @@giancarlovitolo8651
