Soils dont get depleted, its the biology that does due to chemical fertilizers.Farming is millions of years old n chemicals only 100 years.

Within the context of the statement. Yes, Soils get depleted of nutrients which will be regularly needed as nutrition for growth.
The essence was to emphasise the need to know the nutritional status of the Soil so as to improve the ecological environment therein.
