    I was there. He played twice that evening. The first was phenomenal the second not so much. He was the third act. Chick Corea and Gary Burton were first, followed by Charlie Mariano, Philippe Catherine and Jasper van’t Hof.

    The more and more of video's of Jaco surface, the more I'm completely blown away buy what he did and could do. This is like seeing Coltrane barwalk, or Frank Sinatra crooning the audience. Jaco will live forever!!

      Thank you for the comment. I used to have another channel with hundreds of videos. But for some strange reason, they took it down. The videos come from collecting all these alien videos from the 90s before there was a Ytube. God bless

    Incredible footage. I had no idea. Vocals too. It feels like Jaco is an advanced Alien Species teaching us a Universal Language. I mean, send this clip on the next Voyager type Probe! This is a must see/hear for any Jacophile, or for anyone that has an interest in music. THANK YOU!

      Yea, I know. I actually attained this footage when I was a teenager way before youtube. I paid money for all my jazz heroes. The internet just came out and started contacting people all over the world. Now this stuff is easily available.

      Joco did not die because of drugs, like my older brother he was schizophrenic and was having an episode at a club and the dumb bouncer beat him to death. Drugs had nothing to do with it, Mental illness awareness ignorance is what killed him….RIP…Joco

    Was this with WR?

    • @flame-sky7148
      @flame-sky7148  Рік тому +1

      No, this was a solo effort. 79 year was a year that WR didn’t have a full tour, they had a partial tour. Jaco also played with Joni Mitchell that year. This would have been a good year for him to join Columbia and produce a solo album, but not enough time. They would have given him more freedom, since he was already with WR.

    • @JonHop1
      @JonHop1 2 роки тому +2

      @@philreid984 I have played for 38 years now... But I was also a crack, coke, and speed addict for 15 years... Jaco, has admitted to having problems with speed(coke). When people do uppers, especially coke, crack and Ecstasy, it causes your jaw to move side to side a lot and you also grind your teeth. I know what it looks like bud. I am a drug and alcohol therapist now, so on top of my own experience on the street homeless, I also see my clients on these drugs every single day. I think you may be a little bit ignorant as to what hard drug use looks like. It is no secret that Jaco dealt with severe substance abuse problems. This does not take away from his ability tho. BTW, I played with Jaco in 86' at Art Stocks in Florida. This was when Jaco was struggling and was homeless from what I was told. He showed up and I had the pleasure to jam some improv with him. Will never forget it.
