Toyota Celsior or Lexus LS400 diagnosing. AFM sorted, Now to fix the idle issues. High or low?

    Hello Kelvin. Great videos and information. I’ve been fighting with my 93 SC400 here in New Mexico USA. It is in its stock format. I had ECU rebuilt (and verified) and just had timing belt service done. The belt came off in pieces and was caught up in the crank pulley. Car runs good when cold but does die randomly when warm, code 13 RPM signal no. 2 is the only code and it comes back immediately after reset. Cam and cranks sensors ok, TDC verified, associated wiring ok. Where would you go next?

    Kelvin, I bet it would've idled correctly with a 10mm instead of a 14 ;) Nice troubleshooting!

    Hey Kelvin my 1994 SC400 is running super rich, I did everything I can to it. I got a rebuild ecu, new spark plugs and wires, distributors caps and rotors, new o2 sensor and I even put in new fuel injectors. That didn’t fix my problem. What can you think it could be? A fuel pressure regulator? Bad fuel filter? I even put in a new mass air sensor but that didn’t work either so I return it back. I want to enjoy my 1uzfe but she’s been sitting on the side of my place and it’s making me sad.

      Id recommend checking and testing it properly to diagnose it. I dont guess, I test.

    Agree fully about the difference between the UCF10 and UCF 20 engines...I've had both in the same car and UCF20R was smoother more powerful and generally better than the earlier engine which is in my LS400 now....I am still lamenting the day I ruined my original Series 2 1UZ-FE by not burping the coolant correctly, and consequent catastrophic overheat, after replacing the water pump....VERY SAD.

    i wish my 1994 ls400 would idle correctly! it used to idle at like 6-700 but recently its been about 3-400 rpms never touched anything on this car but ever since i replaced an ignitor its acted strange...
    very annoying

      Have you considered its something to do with the last change? Otherwise some proper testing and diagnoses is the best way forward. Cheers Kelvin

    My uz is a bit ill at the moment she runs fine for daily use but when I throttle up above 2500 rpm full throttle no power but if I squeeze the power gently she’ll rev right to limit all the powers there just doesn’t have it when the throttles wide open at low rpm you have to gently rev her to the redline, what do think could be potential problems, I’m Thinking of upgrading the whole ignition system to a link g4

      Id be doing the normal diagnoses, I do a quick visual , check fuel flow, check ignition, check signals at ecu, live data, codes, ecu condition etc etc and that generally finds an issue. Cheers Kelvin

      Stock front pipes until about the midde I can remember but rest I'm not sure on. I think I show exhaust in one of the earlier videos
