I purchased the H8H as a Christmas Present for myself (70yo)! I agree the RLAARLO looks sweet, but for my personal needs, I love how the H8H is more of a hybrid in that you can get it to go 22mph on one hand, then do some respectable rock climbing on the other hand. Also, I sort of like the fact that you can dial it in with new wheels, tires, weights and even replace the ESC for more speed, but the foundational powerful motor is constant no matter what you do. For the price, you can't beat it!!!
@alg4633 it's definitely a fantastic truck once you upgrade wheels and tyres. Other than wheel weights, I doubt you need anything else! You could add some scale details and accessories if you wish, for the money you can't go wrong.
Why is the turning radius so bad on the h8h? Any idea if you had the diffs locked about 10:30 into the vid? When the mk07 made a single turn and the h8h needed a six point turn? The steering could certainly be better, but it’s not THAT bad on mine. With the end points at maximum and the front differential open it should’ve been able to make that turn in one go. Also if you look by the portal covers on the MJX you will see a small plastic tab that physically limits the turning - maybe they put it to save the servo and prevent body rub - but if you snip those tabs you can get at least an additional 10° of throw each way.
on this particular turn it really test the cars centre of gravity. On the first ever run the truck could not even make the turn let alone go wide. It would simply topple over. You will see the wheels are fully turned but spinning on the front lacking traction. This is as all the weight is shifting towards the rear right due it being top heavy. Hence its gone wide. Hope that makes sense. I've not modified the steering to be honest as its been fine for me.
I'm gonna save for the Brushless MK-07, but the rally car coming out later this month first. Given the MK-07 Brushless is available, you should say so rather than suggest upgrading the now older brushed version. It's more expensive yes, but also has other upgrades I believe, as Rlaarlo seek to constantly improve their vehicles. And it does look pretty good too.
@WorkInLight There was no mention of when or if the brushless version was going to be released at the time of making this video. I believe I filmed this 4 to 8 weeks ago.
Glad you did the video, but you can’t compare a truck tricked out with weights to one stock RTR. I know it’s a lot of work but if you’re going to the trouble of running a head to head it would’ve been better if they were kitted out the same. Similar tires and foams, weighted or stock, perhaps a brushless system in rlaarlo… Maybe you can do a short comp video that’s more even? This still leave a lot of questions to my mind. Thanks for making the vid though! Look forward to seeing more.
Thank you for the feedback its really appreciated! If you followed our journey you would have seen both trucks running stock with out weights. The MJX H8H was pointless to run. Stock tires were shocking, It was mega top heavy you couldn't crawl with it as it would just go over or no grip. In this video they both have lower down weight (mk07 has a lot more) MK07 running stock hyrax copies. H8H has wheel weights and genuine Hyrax tires. As I have gone through the Journey upon the last runs I was asked by a fair few viewers for both cars to go head to head. I really appreciate the feedback as I am always working to better myself. If you do have any questions I will try my best to answer them for you if you wish. Out of the two trucks it comes down to desirability and cost. MK07 looks better but would cost more in the long run. MJX H8H would be half the price! To make both truck Amazing you would be touching the numbers below. MK07 you would be touching around £750.00 - £800.00 optional extra Brass weights brushless motor combo MJX H8H less than £400.00 Wheels Tires Wheel weights axel extenders I hope this helps
I have followed the videos. I must’ve misheard you. I thought you said there were no weights on the MJX at all. I actually have the MJX on order and should get it the end of this week. Wanted the Rlaarlo but it was too expensive, too slow, and way too noisy for me. I have a Redcat Ascent with the fusion SE brushless setup for crawling. The MJX will be for trailing. I already have large 2.2s with 100g weights per hub waiting to put on out of the box. Also, yes, the battery needs to be in the front or at least have one in the front and back, or it will never do inclines. How do the stock tires compare size wise to the 2.2s? The compound looked pretty good, but the foams are for shit. Do you think the compound is good enough to be worth pulling off the tires and putting them on bead locks with dual stage foams? last thought, for a head to head it might be worth setting up some gates for them to take the same lines to see how many times you have to reverse and deduct points to pull off the same route… FWIW, I found the H8H on AliExpress $400 USD including tax and free shipping to US
@Nutz_forRCs so the H8H will 10000000% need wheel weights as it just won't hill side when climbing just roll. Stock tyres are okay for simple trails and have no foams at all. They are neumatic tyres and wheels that use a breather hole. Battery at the front will make a difference. However, it is not a must but does help. Regarding size, the stock tyres are about the same size as the 2.2 hyrax. I wouldn't use the stock tyres with foams, just my opinion, I don't think they would cut it when it comes to rock crawling. I hope this helps. If you need any further information, feel free to reach out. I'm happy to answer anything I can.
@tazboi9247 Thank you. I really appreciate the feedback and support it's much appreciated! FTX OUTBACK, unfortunately, I don't own one. As 99% of the rc's are brought by myself and not sponsored, it's hard to buy everything out there. However, I'm always trying to better the channel and show content viewers would like to see. Huge thank you once again!
@matthewmantelli8929 Regards parts availability. Every component is available online. You can also find parts on aliexpress, etc too with a 7-day delivery service. It's not too bad, to be honest.
@hanverheiratetsolo262 I don't think you can on the H8H with the stock controller as far as I'm aware. I've not needed to do this. You can on the MK07. But that comes with the newer dumbor tx, and you need to do it.
@RAY-1984-rc I've not submerged it. I've not opened any of the electrical components up to check that far in being honest. However, I don't see why not. Providing servos and receivers are sealed correctly.
@@thercstore. aw ok thought I’d ask as i haven’t seen anyone submerge one yet and see if it holds up would be nice to know before looking at getting one
It doesn’t float but its electronics are waterproof. The receiver box is sealed with a gasket and some kind of silicone caulk where the wires come through. Pretty sure they’re rated ipx7, which is 30 min submerged one meter. Biggest issue is that the false inside is tight, but not watertight, so the cabin fills with water. It will drain but you have to remove a bunch of screws that hold in the lighting wires and side mirrors etc just to get airflow so it can dry. I had to crack it open and put mine out in the sunlight so the cab could evaporate. That being said other than creek crawling I wouldn’t submerge the thing. No reason to.
@1ALIENBLOOD Not at all. The H8H is running stock proline foams. The original wheels and tyres have nothing in them it almost kills the car. Check out the first running video, and you will see the night and day difference.
Great truck just remember you will need tires wheels and some wheel weights if you want it to crawl. But its half the cost of the MK07. Thank you for watching!
