Pure presentation, fabulous flavours, fully recyclable packaging, decent price...what's NOT to love about it? I feel incredibly lucky to have found a bottle of this last summer, and I couldn't agree with you more. I think the only reason it was still on the shelf at all was due to the unassuming box and label. I really enjoy the off-Islay whiskys that are smoky, like this one and the anCnoc peated. They're just different, a bit more ethereal and less in-your-face. If/when I see it on the shelf again, it's going home with me! Great review of a favourite spirit! Cheers Phil...🥃🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
You've really nailed the flavours on this, imv. And I'm glad you're enjoying it so much. Yet some reviewers compare it unfavourably to other Campbelltown whiskies; maybe it is just their anti NAS bias. Quite apart from anything else, that gold longhand lettering against the packaging's simple cream background produces one of the most beautiful presentations around too.
Once again, I whole heartedly concur with your conclusions. Even despite B and the resulting chronic shortage of Springbank, Longrow is still pretty easy to find over here in the EU. Long may it stay under the radar.
I bought a bottle of this at Royal Mile Whiskies in Edinburgh and it was the beginning of a very strong relationship with Campbeltown. I bought a Ledaig 10 at the same time and this wins everytime. Especially now that Ledaig is putting colour in their 10 year old expression? At least 9/10 on this one. I love it.
A love affair to rival the centuries. Regarding the Ledaig 10 and added colour note. I would normally deny this as the owners of that distillery are always NC and NCF. But a few reviews online are reporting it to be the truth, although I've found nothing concrete.
I recently bought a spring Bank 10 after I saw the review you did of it,and man,! I really enjoyed the bottle You were right on point on nose and taste, I hope your channel keeps growing,👍
Phil all your reviews are awesome 👍, I really appreciate it, you always give us a very good idea of what we're going to taste and nose, I don't, I have viewed all of your reviews,
All of them! Well, thank you very much. That's alot of content to work through! Palates and nosing develop with experience, just keep going and write stuff down, it's how I got into this whole thing.
I have a bottle of this, but have not opened her up yet. Its funny its so hard to get in the UK, in Canada(alberta) this is pretty available for 60cad. Everyone chases the high age statements and totally overlook the younger ones which are fantastic.
Fantastic review and I appreciate you standing behind your tastes here. I just grabbed this and I hope I can review it in the next few months. It might wait till fall, but your thoughts have me excited. Cheers!
I had a bottle of the Longrow 11 Red Port Cask -- I loved that bottle, one of my favs. I can pick up a bottle of this at a store that's a bit of a drive away, but I'm gonna do it I know I'd love it. It'd definitely more expensive here in the States. Great review Phil!
This is a fantastic peated Whisky. It was available and a good price at $65 US near me but recently as with everything from this distillery it has become rare and $95 when you can find it. Cheers
Could not agree with you more on this one. I got a recent batch (dated 11.01.21) and it is seriously good. I actually prefer it to the newer batches of Kilkerran 12 which really surprised me. For a NAS it has so much complexity and easily rivals other age stated whiskies commanding much higher prices. For me it has been one of my favourite drams this year...for the price there is not much out there that will beat it imo. Cheers for your review!
I don't know why I never commented on this apart from the fact that I can't comment on everything. Anyway, better late than never. Okay, I'm a big fan of the Longrow NAS. I completely agree with your notes - I prefer this to any of the age statement offerings. I think it's a pure whisky and the others are just marketing material. WT
These stay months and months on the shelves here in California for 60$, I have always been curious about this expression but being NAS has put me away. After this review, I’ll definitely buy few.
I find the Longrow peated to be a bit like heroin, the first two drams I had out of my bottle we really delicious! I had high expectation and they were even surpassed. However all the drams after have been a bit more flat and lacking something. Every time i open the bottle i am chasing those first two amazing drams from the neck but i never get them. Maybe longrow doesn't like oxidisation?
@@WhiskyWednesday I spotted a handful just before COVID . Lol. Most likely gone. In that same store I saw six bottles of Springbank 12. Bought two, went back a month later and they were gone.
Least you got two. I was hunting for one on Friday's release day, gutted I missed out. But, did just win the Feis Ile Bowmore 18 ballot. Win some, lose some.
Don't feel bad about rating a NAS so high, I gave it my own WOTY because it spits in the face of the age argument; non-CF, no E150...we're good to go...proof that age is just a number.

I'll be buying at least a bottle of this a year...if I can find it. Stunning in every category!

Thank you for these very kind words! It is an exceptional whisky and simple presentation. A true champion.

I should've just said it was awful in the review. Kept it away from the masses.
Just found two bottles on offer for 54 euros and pulled the trigger thanks to your fine review. Thanks 🙏 and kindest regards. Ciao 👋 S.
Wonderful news!
Great Video. It's also great to sip it and watch your video together. Beautiful whisky.
Thank you, Vic. The whisky is truly wonderful and deserves any drinkers time.
Hi Phil, thanks for this fantastic review. I love Springbank and Longrow. I have the Longrow peated in my cabinet.. Cheers from Germany, Oliver
Love 'em all!
An underdog under the radar for sure... impressive dram
Isn't it! Never thought any Longrow would be.

Steve, please do! Love to hear other thoughts. Cheers!
Just happened across a bottle of this in Dublin a few days ago. Looking forward to trying it.
Love to hear your thoughts, Alan.

I have been debating on whether to buy or pass on this one. Now I will give it a shot. Thanks for the review.
Great news, Chris! It won't dissapoint.

Get it. Get it. Get it. Get it.
Looking to grow my appreciation of peat, this sounds like a good candidate. Looks like it's available at the moment but only in the £40s. Ordered. :)
Buy! Buy! Buy! No regrets to be had!

Get 'em while you can situation. Sadly the way with all Campbeltown distilleries now.

Tom, perfectly worded. It is an exemplary whisky.

NAS is leading the way for Longrow! Delicious stuff
Just found a bottle online,45 euros ! Buying ! Thanks Phil !
Yeeeess!!!

Campbeltown NAS bottles are normally little gold mines. Hunt them down!
Never pulled the trigger on one of this. I guess I really need to.
Figured you'd have one of these kicking around, Rob? You're my go-to for Longrow info.
@@WhiskyWednesday only had a bar pour. Need to get friendly with a bottle.
Great review👍🏻
Love the Longrow 18y but this one is a little bit rough/harsh i think😬
It's all personal, this particular batch was very good, but I like whiskies that are a little rough round the edges anyway. 18 is a delight.
Hello, Thanks for that great review. Is this Longrow a 2021 or 2022 release?
This was a '21 bottling.
Just bought a bottle of this as weird I've tried other Longrows but not this one!
Sam! I would've thought you had this before I even touched it. A pleasent surprise, hopefully?
@@WhiskyWednesday ha I know I just seem to go past it for the other expressions... Clearly a mistake! Lol

I quite like this simile.
I will say that my bottle was decanted and seemed to stay pretty standard until the end. It did get sweeter!
The way you describe it, it sounds like a mix of Oban or Kilkerran 10, and maybe Bladnoch 10?
Oban and Kilkerran, for sure. Haven't tried much newer Bladnoch, so that part I'm unsure about. But if it sounds good to you, track one down!

In whisky, age certainly is just a number. I stand by rating this higher than all the age stated variations.
I almost feel guilty for being able to order 12 bottles online and get them delivered for the equivalent of less than 350 GBP. Sorry! 😬
Don't be sorry, just enjoy! Responsibly, of course.
I'm not planning to place the order. .. 😊
More opportunity for others! Still, good to know they're around.
