Sept 1991 my family from Hawaii was here visiting so there were like ten of us here for dinner. We ate, drank and had a great time. My 47 year old mom passed away later that night so this restaurant was my last meal with my mom. I still live in Portland and have never been back. This was a trip to watch.
Tim, I think this is the first time I have commented on your videos but I've been watching them all year and love them. First of all, my favorite thing is the way you say "umm" when you first try something and tilt your head towards the camera. Just so. It's so cute. Dipping the corn dog in the chowder was brilliant and your love of food and good company and your sweet demeanor make for a most entertaining and delightful video each time. I'm glad to see that you now have over 100,000 subscribers and that means that you'll have more opportunities, more sponsors and that's all to the good because you work so hard. I mean this video alone shows that you dedicate yourself so much because you got up so early to drive! Just for us, oh and for the chance at that pristine buffet. Love it!❤
Yes, I agree. Also, Tim is so considerate of everyone he encounters, other diners, the servers, even doing things so that us watching his videos have a great experience, find links, well written descriptions, etc. Thank you Tim! :-)
I've lived within an hour of that place for 38 years and this is the first I've heard of it. Might be hard to make the buffet while I'm working night shift, but thank you for showing us this. That place looks amazing.
If it is a seafood centered buffet I am the same way. I am a nibbler. I grew up eating small snacks like veggies, cheese, crackers, pickles, and meats during the mornings and evenings. Our "big meal" was supper. Just basically eat a small meal when you feel hungry. Three large meals a day is overwhelming, for me anyway. However all that healthy eating and portion control flies out the window when seafood in abundance is on the menu. Simple quality seafood, prepared well gets me every time. 🦞 🦀 🐟 🦐
Salty's is one of the best restaurants around. June of 2023 my parents went there for an early anniversary less than a week before he passed away. We went back as a family for his birthday the next year and they were so sweet and went out of their way to make it special for us they were so kind and accommodating for my mom's scooter as well.

Hi Tim, thank you for another positive video! I came across your channel when looking for Hawaii restaurants for my son (a college freshman who was accepted to present a paper at the East-West Philosophers Conference at UofH Manoa), but have been watching ever since. With our current world a bit out of sorts, I really appreciate the journeys of simple pleasures you take your viewers on. I would love to see you add some more travel-vlog segments, to see not just food but amazing places in the world through your kind eyes. 😊
I really enjoy all your videos Tim, you're always so respectful to everyone and it makes your videos enjoyable to watch. The food there looked amazing as always.
Welcome back Tim!!! Love your buffet restaurant reviews on the Westcoast!!!(Canada and USA) . ..I visit most of the restaurants you review; thus, plan my vacations around your reviews! LOL...Thank you so much for your time and dedication sharing your food experiences.
For those who are interested, the buffet part starts at around 7:50. The prime rib, eggs Benedict, and seafood crepe all looked amazing. I love that they keep the desserts tiny, just one or two bites, so you get a chance to sample more than one. I didn't realize it was the same establishment as Salty's on Alki Beach, where I dined a few times when I lived in Seattle 25 years ago.
I’m not a seafood person but I could have had a wonderful meal there with so many selections! Thank you Tim for letting me travel with you and sharing another wonderful video. Take a quick nap in the car before you head out. Safe travels and GOD bless!
As Greg said. I go to many high priced seafood buffets. I don't take anyone who doesn't like seafood or has 3 bites of food. Too much $$$ for that. But me the last buffet I did I ate 12 lobsters and 6 and half dungeness and snow crabs. 5 sodas. Prime rib. Clam chowder. A few assorted items and 2 bowls of ice cream and carrot cake. I wasn't very hungry so I cut back.
Everything looks so good! I havent been to Saltys in a while and didnt know they now have buffet on Sunday’s brunch. I cant wait to return to eat there. I have always had a good time there, amazing food, service and staff.
The Complete Buffet with the Prime Beef n Seafood. $90 is Reasonable Going thru the Stairs to get Food is a Deal Breaker for me😫😫 Sundays 9-2 is also a hurdle🙄 Food & View looks Amazing As always, thanks for the Video Tim! 👍👍
It is a very good experience and with all the seafood, and especially that prime rib, it was very reasonable, indeed. I forgot to mention that you have a choice of upstairs seating or seating on the ground level.
@@TimLeeLetsGo Gotcha! i didn't see small tables on the Ground Level, it looked like a bunch of very big tables for big groups/party. I've been to Portland once for a day trip but stayed in the city center. Now when I visit again I have some place to check out. As you show mixing items together can have delicious results 😋
It's been several years since I've done brunch, we went later and while still good, we missed a lot during the change outs of the dishes. So definitely go early.

Lovely classic buffet. Nice you got down there. A motivated man getting up at 5:00 am to drive down. For once I am not too jealous because I have me a whole Dungeness crab for dinner. I'll have the legs and pick out the chest meat. I'll use that for stuffed mushrooms tomorrow. Prime rib did look amazing. Happy Sunday from a partly cloudy Corvallis Oregon.
Nice to see "Salty's" survived Portland's feckless municipal management of, as Tim coined it so politely, "The World Event." So here we are with "Salty's" back & thriving deliciously in 2024. That in itself is simply AMAZING!
Last time i saw a chocolate fountain that big was at a golden coral in springfield missouri in 2003. Amazing video all the same. You bring a lot of ambience in this video and what a nice restaurant to dine

Tim Tim Tim - a ton of carbs haha - bagal, potatoes, chowder (twice), muffin w/ eggs benedict, biscuit & gravy, potato hash, grits, rice, more gravy. Nevertheless, looks like you enjoyed which is all that counts.
I love seafood, but as someone who has made living in the South my home, I was shocked to hear you said seafood gravy. I thought they had good old biscuits and sausage gravy when I first saw it. But after my initial shock wore of I can see that they would put a spin on my favorite breakfast dish. It did look good so, and I'm sure I would like it. Shrimp and grits are also a great dish. Like some people mentioned here. The stairs would be my problem, but glad to hear they had lower seating as well. They should howerver give people that go on the top floor a discount 😂😂
It's been a while since I was at Salty's. There used to be one in West Seattle on Alki. Personally, if there was Dungeness on the line i would skip most other things and get my money's worth with crab, chowder, clams.

Tim, Good Brunch. Egg Benedict looked tasty. Shrimp n Grits, hmmn got to try that. Raw oysters inviting. Chowder seemed thick and delicious. Crab legs ahhh. Prime Rib excellently pink n fatty cap. 👍👍 Best
That's NE Marine Dr area. I've always went by there to go fishing in the area but never checked Saltys out. I'm going to have to give it a try sometime, looks amazing.
Things have certainly gotten more and more expensive. I recall it was around the $50 - $60 mark as well many many years ago. Still very good though...loved the prime rib and the crab!
I did not know they had a Saltys in Oregon there is one down the street from my house on Redondo Beach but they have been closed ever since the pandemic. I used to love getting the Sunday brunch.
Welcome to Portland. It's been a while since I've been in Salty's. We usually go to a cheaper buffet on 122nd and Division called FJ Buffet or to a couple of buffet along 82nd ave. For Dimsum, we go to HK along 82nd and Holgate. I hope you enjoy your stay here in PDX. 👍
I don't know how you do it. I'm a bigger guy and I would be rolling out of that place in a half stoper if I ate all that lol. Thanks for showing us everything you can. I will be planning on a Sunday brunch at Satly's soon.
I remember years ago when we went, it was amazing and it’s still very good now. It was a lot less expensive back then and I remember they even had king crab

Me either. I only have seafood for 2 meals a day. Not really into it
This would be a buffet that you should skip. You're paying a premium for seafood. There are places like Golden Corral that are much cheaper.

It’s so sad to see places closed down, but really happy to see the location in Oregon restarting the Buffet. It is a wonderful place.
I am so amuzed watching you with so much appetite..
Oh, I was a bit tired and hungry that day… But since most of it was seafood, it was mainly shells so there wasn’t a lot of food in the end
Thank you so much for the great recommendations! I may need to visit some of these places with Takara to celebrate her graduation!
Great to see you in Portland!
I don't know how you do it. I'm a bigger guy and I would be rolling out of that place in a half stoper if I ate all that lol. Thanks for showing us everything you can. I will be planning on a Sunday brunch at Satly's soon.
Great videos Tim huge Canadian fan.
I live I Portland and had no idea of Salties Buffet on Sunday….i will be making a reservation.
I remember years ago when we went, it was amazing and it’s still very good now. It was a lot less expensive back then and I remember they even had king crab
Not realizing the gravy was seafood gravy.I thought it was odd you putting gravy on top of the crepe.that chowder looked incredible.
It was quite tasty and I think by default everything is seafood there😉
Brooklyn in the beginning is beautiful
The person surpasses the place!
Saltys has been around forever. I took my prom date there about 39 years ago. 😱
Such a great and wonderful place… Still has its charm
Corndogs in place of breaded scallops? Classy place. lol
Brooklyn was the highlight of the video
I think the person surpasses the place!😉
Hi Tim the buffet looks soooooo delicious I Enjoy watching you enjoy the food can't wait until you visit las Vegas again 😅😅
Thank you Calvin! Really great buffet here, but nothing beats the Vegas buffets ;-)
Great video as always 👍👍look so yummy 😋
Thank you so much🙏
When you opened the barbecue grill and all the clams that is where you lost me my chair would be right there lol lol
It was a very tasty seafood feast! I stayed away from the clams for fear of allergies, but would have dived in otherwise
I am going to enjoy this buffet
I miss their Redondo Beach brunch...
My favorite is the eggs Benedict and the meats. 😋
Yeah, I tend to skip the clams at a buffet. That prime rib, and the Dungeness crab were worth the price of admission… Almost.😉
Lee Ty’s fr sharing yr videos with us stay safe yummy yummy
Thank you so much! If you’re in Oregon, it would highly recommend salty’s😋
