Botswana can be an incredibly affordable place to live, especially if expats manage their finances well. Gaborone ranks low on Mercer's Cost of Living Survey, and is more affordable than most of the 200 other listed cities. Its favourable exchange rate also attracts people from the US, the UK and Europe.
Hello! I am watching from Michigan in the United States of America. I have been reading a book series written by Alexander McCall Smith called The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. It takes place in Gabarone, Botswana, and it paints such an interesting picture of the culture. So I decided to do a bit of detective work of my own to learn more about Gabarone. This video is quite informative and will help me visualize Gabarone more accurately as I continue reading the book series. I think the main protagonist of the series, Mma Precious Ramotswe, would enjoy this video as well. 🙂
That’s what I noticed too. May be because the buildings are new and spaced out. Otherwise, capital cities even in desert places have some kind of man made greenery.
Very well done video. The video editing and narration was very professional. Great to see UA-camrs putting out such high-quality content --- it can be hard to find!
It is, great people and really safe. I am Bakalanga myself although born in Zimbabwe. Easy going folks, highly recommend especially if relocating will provide similar conveniences as the US and South Africa is an hour away if you miss big city living.
That's how I found this video, too. I just finished reading book #8 - Blue Shoes and Happiness. It's such a unique and fascinating book series. It truly makes me want to visit Gabarone someday!
I admire Seretse Khama from the books of Alexander McCall Smith. These books tell the story of a strong African woman who became the "first ladie detective" and showed such a lovely view on life! They are nice reading books and you learn a lot about this part of Africa. The story of this Chief Seretse Khama -who became the first President- is incredible and very interesting. I believe he(!) united all the people and made them work together. Not for might, money or themselves, but for eachother and the country! That maked the difference with a lot of other countries in Africa. I also believe God blessed Botswana because they trust in Him. From Holland with ❤
Came here after watching the movie 'The United Kingdom'. Never been to Africa, so much want to visit Morocco and now want to visit Botswana one day soon.
Thanks. It means a lot coming from you Khatool. Our channel is still growing. Very soon many more people will get to discover our African content. For now, it’s people like you that help share our content to more other people around the globe.
I'd definitely move here instead of Capetown, I've lived in jhb now I'm in cape Town but I think the beach would call me back... God bless Botswana and keep it growing.
Not enough on the ground research was done for this video, too much reliance on desktop research. So for example in saying Chief Kgosi Gaborone the narrator has just said Chief Chief Gaborone whereas he was simply Kgosi Gaborone, also Uber doesn’t operate in Gaborone, though InDrive does.
@@FictionHubZA True. A lot of people underestimate this cultural factor.
