Good morning Sid, my name is Anton and I'm looking at you from Italy. Congrats for the video. I have 20 ginkgo biloba , 7 of which are 3 years old and rest of them they have only 4 month.. Can you tell me how I can make sure that they not only grow high but also make branches, because my 7 ginkgo biloba are tall but have not yet grown any branches. Thank you
Honestly I have not experienced much dieback with this tree. It has been grown and chopped, grown and chopped many times and bounced back well each time. I've recently repotted it into a nicer pot. Video to come soon. Stay safe
Hi, i recently got a ginkgo biloba sapling and would like to bonsai it. i’m not completely sure what my first step is. do you think it’s possible that i could email you pictures of it and ask for tips? thank you so much
Sure. No problem. Sidpavey@gmail.com I don't always check my email everyday so if I don't come back to you immediately don't think I'm ignoring you. Stay safe
I reserve the right to be wrong on this but I believe that is a female gingko tree. If so, they are harder to come by than their male counterparts. It is nice to have in your collection!
I've done a little looking. At the tree and on the net and I think you are right. It's a female. No males around for pollination which is probably a good thing.
@@SidsTrees ua-cam.com/video/pCtf3r2JpqQ/v-deo.html this is the video I saw a few weeks ago that taught me how to identify the differences between male and female gingko trees. a few years ago I dug up what I thought was a gingko sapling but it ended up being a tuliptree sapling. I am not disappointed by any means but I am still hoping to find one out and about one day! as always, I enjoy your content and I hope you have a good day!
This tree is at least 20 years old, maybe more. I planted some seeds spring before last but they still haven't germinated. Going to give them one more year. Cheers. Sid.
How long did you have the gingko before trunk chopping? I've bought one myself and I'm wondering how long to leave it for before I start working on it.
Ashlii Prigmore I believe it was 4-5 years or so. Memory poor I'm afraid. That's partly why I'm making these videos. So I have a permanent record of my trees and progress. Cheers. Sid.

This one has been chopped back several times o9ver the years, which is how I did it. That and keep pinching the growing tips.
How did I miss this one. Awesome Sid, hope it’s doing well. I’d love one in my collection. Thanks
It is doing very well. There are updates on the tree. Check the playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLI0f2VfjK4CtTl8vMVtQTeudQm1LpVoX6.html

Does it die back easily, right? Awesome tree, I love it! ❤

@@SidsTrees thank you very, very much. There's lots of misconceptions around this tree where I live. You too!
Good, quite unusual design for Ginkgo tree...
That's me. Quite unusual. Lol

Trying to grow from seed, any suggestions?
Try this.

Hello
Maybe tilt the tree a little to the left: it would improve the movement of the trunc and give more balance.

I also just realized that this video is a few years old now so not sure how I ended up here ha!
Don't know how you got here either but welcome. Honestly can't say myself whether this tree is male or female . Either way I like it. Stay safe.

Hi, Sid. Just stumbled across this vid after reading about gingko. How old is your bonsai and have you ever grown them from seed?

I look forward to seeing how my one progresses, I hope to get mine looking that good in time! Thanks for making these videos.
