nearly a decade. Samsung has proven it can be scaled down to consumer sizes. But the yields still have to come down dramatically. But OLED was astronomically expensive only a few years ago and look at the cost now. So i'm hopeful🤞🏿

It could be faster than 10 years because many companies, especially chinese companies, are trying to get in on the action. Once the chinese are in, you know price will get really competitive really fast.

@@bherbo3943 They kept the price of OLED up to recoup the cost of their research and because LG was the only one allowed to make them for a while until Samsung could create their own technology and patent it. Now it's expected for prices to drop dramatically. They were going to have TCL sell OLEDs using Samsung panels but they must have realized that would be a bad idea for now.

I have a love hate relationship with Samsung, I'm still a fan of their displays nonetheless. For $150k, they sure are missing some key specs on their site. I'm wondering if RTINGS is going to buy this TV and review it. I have their Neo G9 monitor, and trying to check up on their firmware is a nightmare. You'd think it would be as easy as just going to the support section under the monitor on their site, but nope. I digress. I'm curious how many zones it has and what's the peak brightness and sustained brightness, 60Hz or 120Hz etc.

Literal sapphire MicroLED, every emerging TV technology goes through it's "for people who don't have to ask what the price is" phase.
It's basically a research platform. OLED went through it just like plasma did, etc.
What makes me laugh is that these TVs have speaker systems. Idk who's getting this without a matching tier surround sound.

The box should be 2.5gbps to make it a little more future proof - that or I hope Samsung let's you mix and match the connect box so you can upgrade it down the road. The power cord for EVERYTHING these days should be detachable.

You don't have MicroLED, you may have MiniLED.
You don't need DP 2.1 for 4K120Hz. HDMI 2.1 is enough for that and you don't even need DSC. 4K165Hz needs DSC.
DP 2.1 will be needed for 8K120Hz, but there is no monitor or TV that can do it yet from a cable, not sure about Streaming.
DP 2.1 is fairly new and only the 7000 Series from AMD has it. NVidia 4000 doesn't.
Those connections, resolutions, refresh rates and color depths that require those connections will be needed and more widely available @ 2024.
Until then HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4 and 4K120Hz is the way to got for now.

How many local dimming zones does this micro-LED TV actually have? I'm curious since I currently own a mini-LED monitor (Samsung Odyssey Neo G8) that has 1196 local dimming zones. I'm interested of upgrading to a micro-LED monitor in the future. I still don't want to go OLED on a monitor because of the unavoidable burn-in I'll eventually get later on. 😩I do have a 77" LG C2 OLED TV though and it looks amazing! 😁

Just like OLED, every pixel on a microLED is its own "dimming zone". As in, they can all switch off and on independently of each other for perfect blacks. MicroLED's biggest advantages over OLED are brigthness and lack of burn-in issues. Biggest disadvantage is obviously price. 😆

ML Image quality is insane and yes microled is the future but this is not a succes.
Until they make them smaller so you can have a 4k-8k tv at 43 inch ....for many people this is too big

It's technically not a TV since it requires an external tuner

I could buy 5 lg g3 97 inch that would generate less heat with that money, with dolby vision , less clunky microled panel problems I've heard about, less power usage and better gaming performance and features. Microled is a nono even for a bleeding edge product meant for chads.

Obviously Micro LED isn't anywhere near as mature as OLED is.
Technology keeps improving at a rapid pace.

@@PSYCHOV3N0M yeah I hope it solves it's issues soon. I love the tech but downsides are way too much.

Hisense has a 115 inch TV... that will cost less than 20, 000 $. In a couple of years 100 inch TVs will be the standard.

100" TVs will probably never be standard. Even if it gets to be more affordable, most homes don't even have enough wall real estate to even mount the TV.
Also we are more than just a couple years away from this getting to be affordable. I'm guessing at least a decade.
