"You can change details, but not where you end up" -Angrboda, speaking of fate and prophecy, to Atreus, who's father beat the concept of Past, Present and Future to death
Actually the God of Death is Thanatos who he kills in The Ghost of Sparta psp game after Thanatos kills his brother. (Thanatos is not to be confused with Thanos from Marvel)
Sometimes the best family isn’t blood. My best bud from high school stepped in as a uncle to my kids. My alctual brother tried killing our parents and just across country and no one’s heard from in almost 20yrs now
Kratos admiting he wants to spend time with Atreus really warms my heart. I think meeting Faye and having Atreus is the second chance Kratos always deserved.
@@VvV-1 And the best/worst part about it he's so accepting of his prophesied death. It is just leaving Atreus alone and not ready for the world that worries him so much. But it is also the driving force that leads him to be more open and sentimental towards Atreus. Not the best dad but he's trying his damned hardest.
@PotatoVine that's what makes him the best dad. Despite all his flaws and his struggle to show emotion at times, he's doing his dam best to be there for him and make sure he spends as much time as he might have lest with him
Atreus is the one writing the journal entries. He talks about it all the time; even in the previous episode with Angrboda when he tells her he's something of an artist too and he keeps a journal of their travels. Unless I've missed something and they're both keeping a journal, but im pretty sure that's not the case. But the thought of Kratos keeping a journal and drawing in it is hilarious 😂 Edit: I was wrong. Kratos is writing in a journal as well. He writes about Atreus at some points. Unless Atreus is writing in third person from the point of view of Kratos, but I really doubt that 😂. So yeah, I was wrong, but I wanted to say that instead of deleting my comment.
@@Jeffrey_Tyler This game's codex has entries from Kratos and Atreus, some even translated by Mimir I heard. But yeah some entries are written from Kratos' POV like later Freya entries and I believe this is one of them lol
I imagine Jack saying "OK so this is where we are going to end this episode" then swapping his shirt or jacket, putting a cap on and acting like it's a new day recording the next episode
He's done that before in a longer play through. P sure he mentions that he literally just changed his shirt for the video, can't remember what it's from, though.
Yeah, I think it's pretty standard to do one long play-through and punctuate it outro/intros so they can be divided up during editing. I guess he would take genuine breaks to re-energize and what not
1) Kratos being more affectionate with his son and actually saying out loud that we wants to spend more time with him 2) Atreus having a literal panic attack at seeing a prophecy of his father dying, and immediately going from blindly following and trusting fate to actively trying to defy it ... Man, the father and son bond between this two is gonna be the death of me
It is quite emotional. Also, it is not surprising considering that Atreus had at that point assumed that the only things he could do regarding the prophecy was follow it and end Odin's tyranny or do nothing and sit by as things continue to get worse. It seems he is not the kind of person who can ignore these kinds of things, probably gets that from his mother's side. Of course, his father possibly dying adds new perspective.
Too bad right after it he has to do the whole "Way too much of a hard ass, but really he just wants to keep his son safe, but by being so overbearing he actually pushes him away" whole thingy.
@@karenamyx2205 I’m not sure he really is too much of a hard ass. Given the situation they’re in, he just doesn’t want to see his son put in a position he dies. They’re fighting ASGARD after all. Also, he is probably a little hurt Atreus is adamant to learn more about Loki and embrace the identity, viewing it as pushing away his father, even if he isn’t trying to.
20:08 Kratos and Mimir were talking about the Trojan horse. When Mimir asked is Kratos was there, he said "Yes. I prefer the poem" in reference to how HORRIBLE the events of the Trojan war were. What a neat reference!
Also, Kratos says he was there. If he was there the general consensus is that the events of the Trojan War took place around 1200 BCE and taking the events of the game being the height of the Viking Age (say c 900 CE) that makes Kratos 2100 years old! Excuse me?
Kratos : _(admitting he's actually just trying to enjoy what moments he may have left with Atreus and generally being wholesome)_ Sean : _"haha big jellyfish go brrrr"_ [16:57]
I kept forgetting throughout this whole playthrough that Atreus is all excited about fulfilling the prophecy, meanwhile Kratos is thinking "The prophecy says I die and leave you on your own!"
Ohh damn yeah! That kinda explains their actions too with Kratos wanting to spend as much time with Atreus, teach him and prepare him. Generally seeming for caring and gentle than the first game while Atreus is acting all well curious and excited like the child he is about it. Lol with the Tyr stuff in the last few parts I was like shut up! You aren't sure of anything, generally felt like a quest on blind hope till he was found.
kratos isnt worried he dies in the prophecy. What concerns him is atreus becoming a warrior in the war. Kratos doesnt want to avoid the prophecy cuz he is afraid of leaving atreus alone, he is afraid of atreus becoming like him. Kratos actually says hes made sure atreus can survive on his own should he die
@@crawllingchaos he doesnt want to die, he just doesnt care about dying in the prophecy since he doesnt believe in it. He isnt worried at all about dying but will try to avoid it the best he can
So I think with Kratos giving us his favorite poem, we now have a much better understanding of just how old he really is. His favorite poem, which involves a cunning general, a forbidden love, and a horse that isn’t as it appeared, is the Trojan War/Iliad. By itself that’s a pretty fun reference. However, with Kratos having been there first hand to see it, we now have a much better idea of how old he is. History points to the Trojan war most likely happening in about the 13th century BC, meaning around 1200 BC. The Gods are said to have directly interfered with the conflict and it’s players. This would line up with how the ancient Greeks viewed the Gods walking on earth and being more present than they were during say Homers time 300-500 years later. Now, if Ragnarok follows a similar trajectory of being before the Viking Age, that would put us at about 400-600 AD. Meaning, Kratos was alive for roughly 1800 years by the time the current game unfolds. Those are the generous numbers too. He could be anywhere from 1700 - 2000+ years old. He’s looking pretty good for his age.
1800 sounds about right because, at least In the real Iliad, ares is still the god of war, meaning Kratos was still mortal at that point meaning he couldn’t have been very old, as he became the god of war around 40 years old.
It's clearly a fucked up world nothing like our own....and it can't possibly be anywhere near the Viking Age since the game is showing the actual origin of the mythology. That and the lack of any Christianity anywhere at all. You can't just have your cake and eat it too. It's not our world. Trying to just layer the real world on top of any of this when explaining any of it is absurd.
Definitely grown since the last game and the previous games (OG GoW). So rare that he calls people he meets friends. Before they were just people who he needed to meet his own goals. While in these two games he makes an effort to put others feelings first and tries to understand them. Amazing growth
@@CrazyGamerTVY He certainly has grown and while I know there will be some disagreement on this point, I like him now a lot better than I did when he was in Greece. That is the honest truth I'm afraid.
@@emperorofinception3571Sorry for necroposting. Kratos wasn't very big on personality in the original trilogy, in my opinion. He had some moments, but overall he was just a hack and slash rage monster. The games feel like a power trip. Now that I think about it, that was probably the point.
@@TessdaWater It's alright (although I have no idea what necroposting is) and I apologize for the delay in the reply. Rage, hatred, and aggression seemed to be his primary emotional state probably as a result of choosing that path and the path of revenge. He had his moments when he showed that there was more to him, but it seems that overall, his rage was his defining feature. Just as my personal observation it seems that the games appealed to people's desire for violence and destruction and that was appealing to a lot of people. There is a part of the human condition that craves an outlet for our darker emotions. There is also a natural craving to hurt others who have hurt us out of revenge and Kratos was shown as someone who could follow that road to its end. Now as a result of following his path of revenge to its end and surviving without becoming a target of someone else's revenge, he has come to the conclusion that it didn't help his pain. Revenge often promises things it can't and won't deliver with promises that taste of honey laced poison. If revenge doesn't claim one's life directly, usually the individuals end up becoming that which they hunted. Kratos has a second chance that, so few ever gain once they reach the end of this path. Funnily enough, I have played a game with a similar premise called Asura's Wrath, but the main character despite being defined by his rage doesn't let it blind him to the problems of others. In a way he has been considered a more human version of Kratos. Ironically enough, once they would have enemies simply based on Asura's morals (which he never compromises even in the deepest depths of his rage). Now I think that they would have more in common. Just an interesting thought.
I really love when the girl does the herding call for the Yak. In Scandinavia, that is a singing tradition called Kulning, used for livestock. Nice detail!
Not only Norway, throughout most of Norway and sweden the herding call was not only used for livestock but also as a communication between Farmers. And in Norse mythology after Ragnarok the world essentially resets itself, so it makes sense why the world serpent would remember his father even though Loki doesn’t remember him, because technically he’s a new person
Mythology(/language) trivia (part 1/2): 0:26 "Skjálfa" means "to shiver, tremble" in Icelandic. 2:17 Svartálfar ("dark elves") are beings who dwell in Svartalfheim (the underground world of dwarves). They are often correlated with the dvergar ("dwarves"), and acquired their name because they were seen as the light-avoiding counterparts to the common ("light") elves living in Alfheim. 5:59 "Blood mead" is probably a reference to the Mead of Poetry (created by the dwarfs Fjalar and Galar, who killed Kvasir and mixed his blood with honey). Kvasir was a poet and also one of the wisest men; so the mead made from his blood gave wisdom and poetic inspiration to those who drank it. 12:44 Gefjon ("giver") is a goddess of agriculture, fertility, abundance, and prosperity. 12:4626:48 Hafgufa ("sea steamer") is a legendary massive sea monster/whale that could be mistaken for an island (similar to the lyngbakr encountered earlier in the game). 13:07 "Lúnch?" Durlin's pet was called "Dínner", so it seems there's an inside joke of naming animal after words for meals that were "made Norse" by adding accute accents (´). 20:09 The poem Kratos mentioned (the Iliad) was about the Trojan War. The "horse that was not as it appeared" was the Trojan Horse, a hollow wooden horse constructed by the Greeks to gain entrance into Troy during the warr. The "cunning general" was Odysseus (who devised the plan), and the "forbidden love" refers to Helen and Paris (the war started after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta). 21:04 Skírnir was a servant of the god Freyr (Freya's brother) known for carrying the god's marriage request to the giantess Gerðr. The giantess refuses the advances until Skírnir threatens her with Gambanteinn (a powerful magic wand/sword given to him being Freyr), when she finally agrees to meet with Freyr. 22:09 Nøkken (or Nixie) are shapeshifting freshwater spirits, who try to lure their victims into the water (being nude is one of the ways they do so). 25:30 In Norse mythology, those 4 parts are better understoods as division of a person's self (not just their "soul"). They are hamr ("shape/skin"; it's your physical form and outer appearance), hugr ("thought"; it's your mind/personality), fylgja ("follower"; it's an attendant spirit with an animal form, similar to a familiar), and hamingja ("luck", it's "a quality inherent in the man and his lineage, a part of his personality similar to his strength, intelligence, or skill with weapons" - biologically, it's DNA). It was said that those who fell in battle went to Valhalla (Odin's hall of the slain) and become einherjar, but the most common afterlife was Hel (the world of the dead, ruled by a goddess also named Hel, who was a daughter of Loki and Angrboda). 32:26 "Iron wood" (Járnviðr) is a forest inhabited by giantesses/trollwomen (járnviðjur) who bore jötnar (giants) and giant wolves. 34:04 "þruma" means "a roll of thunder; thunderclap" in Icelandic (it was what Atreus used to say during his shock attacks). 37:04 Sköll (meaning "treachery" or "one who mocks" in Old Norse) and Hati (meaning "enemy" or "one who hates" in Old Norse) are two wolves who pursue the sun and the moon trying to devour them (eventually succeding at it during Ragnarok, which is an apocalyptic destruction of the cosmos and even the gods). They are children of the wolf Fenrir and also grandsons of Loki (who was revealed to be Atreus in the last game). 37:31 Ýdalir ("Yew Dales") is the hall of Ullr (Thor's stepson and Sif's son), a god of hunting and archery. 41:25 Angrboda ("bringer of grief" or "anguish boding") was the giantess mate of Loki, mother of the wolf Fenrir (who kills Odin), the world serpent Jormungandr (who kills Thor), and the ruler of the dead Hel. Jormungandr leading Loki to meet Angrboda was basically their way of saying "go meet mom to make sure I exist". 42:04 "þola" means "to bear, endure, suffer" in Icelandic. 42:37 Útgarðr ("the outer enclosure") is a territory located to the east or to the north of Midgard (Earth) and Asgard (world of the Aesir god); it is inhabited by giants and monsters. This eastern region is also that of Jötunheim ("World of the Giants") and Járnviðr (“Iron Forest”), home of the wolf-shaped giants. Also, "útangarðr" ("beyond the enclosure") is a word that describes a chaotic, wild, and anarchic place or a state of mind (which is the state Atreus's mind is in at that point). 49:201:36:06 "Örva ýta" literally means "incite push" in Icelandic (since the arrow pushes enemies away). 49:41 Ibex is a type of wild mountain goat. 51:44 "Dýr atrás" means "animal charge" or "beast attack" in Icelandic (it's what he says when summoning the goat). 53:12 Iði/Idi ("the industrious one") was a giant son of Ölvaldi and brother of Þjazi and Gangr. Ölvaldi divided his possessions in such a way that each of his sons received a mouthful of gold. This is why skaldic poets call gold "Iði's (or Þjazi's, or Gangr's) mouthful". 54:36 Tatzelwurm ("claw worm") is a lizard-like creature with the face of a cat and a serpent-like body.
Mythology(/language) trivia (part 2/2): 55:37 "Taka" means "to take, catch, seize" in Icelandic. 55:53 Gróa is a seer and practitioner of seiðr (magic to predict and influence the future), and the wife of Aurvandill (the morning star). She uses a spell in an attempt to dislodge the stone embedded in Thor's skull during his battle with Hrungnir, but forgets the rest of the spell when Thor says he had encountered her lost husband, and he'd soon be home. 56:47 Vanir was one of the two main tribes of deities (the other one being the Aesir), who lived in Vanaheim. 57:16 That was probably a picture of Starkad, an eight-armed giant and legendary hero. He is portrayed as a great warrior who performed many heroic deeds, but also many crimes. 1:03:49 "Ganga" means "walk, go" in Icelandic. 1:04:21 The only ability of Loki that's frequently mentioned in Norse mythology is shapeshifting (he could change both his shape and sex). Maybe the devs took a step forward and decided to give him the ability to communicate with animals as well. 1:06:58 "Upp" means "up" in Icelandic. 1:08:29 "Hafa" means "have; hold; bring" in Old Norse. 1:09:22 "Taka upp hondum" means "Extend/rise your 'hand' (hoof)" 1:11:30 Jötnar (meaning "devourers") or "giants" are forces of destruction and entropy, who try to bring the world back to primordial chaos. That's why they're the main enemies of (Aesir) gods, who try to protect the world (giants are utangard/chaotic beings, whereas as Aesir gods are innangard/orderly beings). Ragnarok is the last battle between those two sides. 1:12:58 Ymir is the primordial giant whose body formed the world. He was killed by the gods Odin, Vili and Vé. 1:13:18 "Vist" means "food, provisions" in Icelandic. 1:21:52, 1:34:13 The soul inside Atreus's knife could be Fenrir's, since Kratos said Atreus cast a (involuntary) spell when Fenrir died, and Atreus did not want the wols to leave him. 1:28:30 "Fara" means "go, leave" in Icelandic. 1:33:06 Thiazi (Þjazi) was a giant and one of Idi's brothers. 1:33:15 Hroðr ("famed") was a giantess; Thor was referred to as "Hroðr's adversary". She was also the wife of Hymir (a giant friendly to the Aesir). 1:33:27 Bára ("wave") was one of the nine giantess daughters of the sea god Ægir and his wife Rán. Their names (Himinglæva, Dúfa, Blóðughadda, Hefring, Hrönn, Uðr, Bylgja, Bára, and Kólga) are poetic terms for various types of waves. 1:40:50 "At nú" means "at present (right now)" in Icelandic 1:41:04 Irpa is a female form of Jarpr ("dark brown"), and Nótt means "night". 1:41:35 "Lína" means "string, line, rope" in Icelandic. 1:48:17 Hábrók ("High breeches", which may refer to the bird's long legs) is "the best of hawks". 1:50:50 Bergsrå ("mountain keeper/warden") was a mythical creature of the mountain. 1:56:50 Grýla is a horrifying monster and a giantess living in the mountains of Iceland, commonly used to scare children into good behavior. She's said to eat mischievous children.

@@kylie7780 Agreed, I have seen stories where a prophecy only became relevant and was fulfilled because certain characters (usually the antagonists) ended up believing in them and acting as if the prophecy was established fact in order to subvert them. In one story it was later noted that if the antagonist had simply waited until both of his potential "adversaries" were older and tried to eliminate the one who seemed more dangerous later then he would have avoided the prophecy altogether. However, he didn't know all of it, he wanted to eliminate a potential threat, and he was convinced that his powers would easily defeat both his "enemy" and his family overlooking old magic that by his admission he should have foreseen. As one character noted, in some ways this antagonist can be quite brilliant, but his disregard of anything he deems irrelevant as well as his arrogance and inability to reflect on his mindset makes him incapable of seeing things clearly sometimes. Also, I don't think that everyone knows the entirety of what Kratos has been through. As the audience we are very lucky to get insight that others may not.
Because the writing is boring and predictable. I hate how one second Kratos is saying he wants to spend time with Atreus and then he just suddenly starts being an arsehole because they need to get Atreus to run away and lead into a section where you play as Atreus. Lazy writing.
1:21:49 When Angrboda says there's a soul in Atreus' knife, I'm convinced that it's actually Fenrir's. I noticed earlier in the game, but I like how Kratos evolved as a social person overall, he no longer calls Mimir "Head", and "boy" is not present anymore, he even says "Thank you". great character
Apparently the reason why they had him call Atreus boy so much in the first game is because he didn’t have a name at the time of them recording most of Kratos lines. Although, I do like that it ends up adding extra character growth to the story

It wasn't toxic. There's a difference you don't understand. It was brutal. Powerful. Destructive. It was rough. It made him. It turned him into the absolute unit he is now. He wasn't a pussy that was treated unfairly by his parents. That's what toxic ks
@@surefit.8884 Being mistreated by your parents doesnt make you a pussy, it makes you someone who had had to live through some unfortunately pretty common bullshit. Also yes, literally both his mortal and godly parents never treated Kratos well, so, he definitely had parental trauma. Hell, thats a whole facet of the game, how does one learn to be a father if they never had a good example of one. Kratos wasnt strong because he survived, or because he was angry. He was strong because he kept fighting for those he loved. Even in the earlier games its all a revenge mission, a blind rage brought about by the murders of his brother and later his family. In these games he realizes that his strength was his ability to fight for and protect those he cares about, not his blind rage. Rage makes Kratos a warrior, but his love is what gives that rage its strength. Toxic means its corrosive, destructive. That toxic mindset of strength is the exact thing he needed to lose in order to trust and love his son the way he deserved to be loved by his father. Kratos put it best: "We must be better."
Love that Angrboda is using Kulning or herding calls. It is a domestic Scandinavian music form, often used to call livestock down from high mountain pastures where they have been grazing during the day. :D Rly love this series!!

You know it's absolutely crazy to me how much Kratos is showing his human side. We've all followed him on his journey and through that journey. He's had to be this battle hardened beast for so long. This is one of the coolest things I've seen in many years and this might be my favorite version of him. After all his years of war. He can finally be himself, remember he is half human.
provided they don't kill kratos, I would love to see the next game be him and atreus exploring a new world, documenting stuff and learning together with no one else's help at the start.

I love Angrboda’s calls to Jalla - in choir we sang a Nordic song that began with cattle calls & her singing reminds me a lot of those! They’re supposed to be high and resonant so that they can travel far across the land, and they’re usually harmonic too because cattle will be attracted to the pretty sounds
I LOVE how they incorporated cow calling with Jalla. That way Angerboda calls Jalla is extremely distinct in Norwegian folk culture and a huge part of our farm history.

Damn this game playing with my emotions with Kratos trying his hardest to be a father who actually cares about his son.. damn it.. It's also sad because Kratos dosnt want his son going down the same road he did.
Its just a little frustrating because hes doing the classic "just wants to keep his son safe, but is SO overbearing in doing it, he pushes him away" thing. Mirmir even literally says that to him, that if he keeps pushing so hard, itll literally cause him to lose him. But kratos dont listen to literally the smartest man alive.
That Angrboda uses kulning to call Jalla makes my heart happy! Its an ancient nordic herding call, used by nordic women to call the cattle home from pasture
I LOVE how casually all the characters move around the treehouse with their height differences. Týr towering over the dwarves while cooking stew is so pleasant to watch.
I like how the game devs are showing tyr not just as the Norse god of war, but also as the god of challenges, with him accepting the challenge of cooking in the last part, just to have it acted on in one of the very next cutscenes
31:24 I love how Sindri has a thing/fear of germs, but in this moment he decides to comfort Atreus despite that also the fact that he appears in his room, and doesn't just follow him in there was a cool touch
Jack being totally oblivious about Atreus being head-over-heels for angrboda this entire episode both irritates me and makes this whole episode so much funnier 🤣
It’s so funny watching Sean remark on how cute Atreus and Angrboda were together, then keep saying how it’s not gonna happen since she’s probably dead. Meanwhile, people who know who Angrboda is and how her fate intertwines with Loki’s according to Norse myth is like, “Just you wait, Sean. I can’t wait for the pieces to start falling in place for you and to see your reaction”. 😂
Idk, to me it felt like they were clearly implying she's real, and that they're really in actual Jotunheim. And that those balls aren't little worlds, but the giants themselves (which she literally said as she showed the soul inside one of them).
@@eternalflame11 Loki and Angrboda are the parents of Hel (Goddess of Death and the Underworld), Jörmungandr (The World Serpent), and Fenrir (The Wolf Giant). However, unlike Norse lore they clearly don’t birth them in the game as the two are just children… but maybe this means Hel will be their future biological child if the game continues to follow Loki into adulthood??? It actually makes perfect sense that Atreus wouldn’t know what fireflies are, because they’re aren’t any in Scandinavia. They can’t survive that far up North, it’s too cold. My best friend from high school has family in Finland, and I remember her telling me of when her Grandparents and some of her cousins were visiting here in the US during the summer - several years back - and that was the first time any of them had ever seen fireflies, and it was the most magical thing for them

@@lawlisbetterthanyou628 Not necessarily. In a similar way to how the giants only gave half truths with their visions, Atreus could easily do the same.
Immortality will do that to you
Ni😢
Wasnt he like 700 in the og games or something?
It's clearly a fucked up world nothing like our own....and it can't possibly be anywhere near the Viking Age since the game is showing the actual origin of the mythology. That and the lack of any Christianity anywhere at all.
You can't just have your cake and eat it too. It's not our world. Trying to just layer the real world on top of any of this when explaining any of it is absurd.
i love kratos being curious, having friends, sharing stories.. those little things that gives him personality
Definitely grown since the last game and the previous games (OG GoW). So rare that he calls people he meets friends. Before they were just people who he needed to meet his own goals.

12:46 26:48 Hafgufa ("sea steamer") is a legendary massive sea monster/whale that could be mistaken for an island (similar to the lyngbakr encountered earlier in the game).
49:20 1:36:06 "Örva ýta" literally means "incite push" in Icelandic (since the arrow pushes enemies away).
Mythology(/language) trivia (part 2/2):
55:37 "Taka" means "to take, catch, seize" in Icelandic.
1:09:22 "Taka upp hondum" means "Extend/rise your 'hand' (hoof)"
1:11:30 Jötnar (meaning "devourers") or "giants" are forces of destruction and entropy, who try to bring the world back to primordial chaos.
1:40:50 "At nú" means "at present (right now)" in Icelandic
1:41:04 Irpa is a female form of Jarpr ("dark brown"), and Nótt means "night".

Kratos literally killing fate: *Allow me to introduce myself*
Even when he does die, he doesn't stay dead. So I'm not too worried about Kratos. He will go to Hel, beat the shit out of Hel, and come back like nothing happened.
The thing about fate is tricky. Are you destined for the fate, or do you discover your 'fate' and make it a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Honestly, I prefer him over Joel in The Last of Us
It wasn't toxic. There's a difference you don't understand. It was brutal. Powerful. Destructive. It was rough. It made him. It turned him into the absolute unit he is now. He wasn't a pussy that was treated unfairly by his parents. That's what toxic ks
@@surefit.8884 Sounds to me like your horrible understanding of trauma as a whole is blinding you to the entire point of the God of War franchise

I liked Arteus’ time in ironwood dream with the girl, he’s definitely a skilled fighter but it was nice to see him be able to have fun and be an actual kid for once with the girl. From racing each other to skimming stones and just joking with each other, was different and nice!
He doesn't get many chances to do that, so it is good that he has that opportunity.
considering she is the future mother of three of his children, it seems right for them to have that kind of connection
It just goes on too long. Imagine that section in NG+.
Respectfully disagree, it's rather boring and a cliché boy meets girl plot. Not exactly cringe level, but wishing it could be over
@@ladyfyreblood6550 different tastes i guess, it was my favorite part cuz it was so calm for the most part
Guys it’s a game
Shame the game is a bit boring. I see what they going for and that they tried to make the Atreus sections different, but they are just so boring.
@@holliswilliams8426 Speak for yourself. I think it's great so far.
@@karenamyx2205 i mean last time Kratos listened to someone he killed his previous family so
Hafgufa flying around the sky is stunning! Atreus' wolf form is awesome and fun!
That Angrboda uses kulning to call Jalla makes my heart happy! Its an ancient nordic herding call, used by nordic women to call the cattle home from pasture
Yes! It’s gorgeous! I love it and it touches the soul!
Beautiful.
No.
I know right, so beautiful
I watch her videos often. I also like looking at her art pieces.
I LOVE how casually all the characters move around the treehouse with their height differences. Týr towering over the dwarves while cooking stew is so pleasant to watch.
I felt the same :> I would totally watch a Treehouse Sitcom
Jack: “I don’t know who Angraboda is”

Yep
Oh yeah that makes sense

I thought she was his wife
@@rccarmaniac she was at one point but they got divorced I believe, Loki’s main wife was Sigyn
1:21:46 "The,, there's,, there's a soul,, in you knife. Did you not know that? 🤨🤨🤨" gotta be my favorite line delivery from this entire scene 😭😭
I like how the game devs are showing tyr not just as the Norse god of war, but also as the god of challenges, with him accepting the challenge of cooking in the last part, just to have it acted on in one of the very next cutscenes
But is that really true if the tyr who companies them is odin and not the real one?

My man, it's not his first time and won't be his last, he'll be back in 30 minutes.

What do you think the story is actually going to do with that, bc they wouldn't just get rid of Kratos, but they also can't just ignore it?
he'll just climb for 50ft
he'll just climb for 50ft
He’s already died in *this game*
31:24 I love how Sindri has a thing/fear of germs, but in this moment he decides to comfort Atreus despite that
also the fact that he appears in his room, and doesn't just follow him in there was a cool touch
That is a nice touch.
I like to think he developed that because of retrieving his brother. 3/4

atreus and angrboda racing was so cute, especially considering this is the first person atreus has interacted with that's actually around his own age
oh it just clicked , she was one of his wives.. the mother of monsters ...(very distant memory of norse mytology)
Idk, to me it felt like they were clearly implying she's real, and that they're really in actual Jotunheim. And that those balls aren't little worlds, but the giants themselves (which she literally said as she showed the soul inside one of them).
dont they have fenrir midgard and hella??
@@eternalflame11 hella,fenrir and yormungander
@@eternalflame11 Loki and Angrboda are the parents of Hel (Goddess of Death and the Underworld), Jörmungandr (The World Serpent), and Fenrir (The Wolf Giant). However, unlike Norse lore they clearly don’t birth them in the game as the two are just children… but maybe this means Hel will be their future biological child if the game continues to follow Loki into adulthood??? I mean, unlike the world serpent and Fenrir, Hel’s existence would be a little harder to explain as she is a known Goddess and is supposed to look like Loki and Angrboda (Human-like).
Hearing Angerboda use kuling is AMAZING. And yes Seán, she's is using the ancient swedish/scandinavian cattle calling known as Kula.
I love how accurate the conversation of these two little artists are, especially cuz I couldn't draw a hand if my life depended on it I absolutely despise doing those but I do it anyways cuz I need to practice
Atreus: I got a new girlfriend
Jack: cool can I see her
Atreus: she’s from another realm, you wouldn’t know her

I can’t imagine the devs have it in them to kill Kratos, mainly because it’s been too telegraphed at this point. I suppose it would be shocking but I’m sure they’ll bring them back fairly quickly even if he does die.
Hell, they may have lampshaded what they’ll do with the Brok coming back from death storyline
It actually makes perfect sense that Atreus wouldn’t know what fireflies are, because they’re aren’t any in Scandinavia. They can’t survive that far up North, it’s too cold.
My best friend from high school has family in Finland, and I remember her telling me of when her Grandparents and some of her cousins were visiting here in the US during the summer - several years back - and that was the first time any of them had ever seen fireflies, and it was the most magical thing for them
You'd guess seeing a black girl would've had a similar effect then, eh XD
@@Synthesid Brok is literally blue.
@@Elvxn13 it was a weird comment to make but i’m pretty sure they’re talking about angrboda
Why does my comment keep disappearing? UA-cam, come on, behave ffs.
@@Elvxn13 just search "atreus asks why brok is blue". I believe that would resolve your counterpoint. The devs just didn't dare make him ask the same question regarding Angrboda.
“Is your dad an artist too?”
Atreus: “No… he’s called the god killer…”
He is… if blood is his paint and Greece his canvas.
I just realized. If Atreus can't tell anyone about his trip to ironwood then he can definitely tell them he had "visions" and "dreams" that gave him the information he learned there
that still would prove its existence and if Odin learnt of that he would look for ur putting it in danger though
@@lawlisbetterthanyou628 Not necessarily. In a similar way to how the giants only gave half truths with their visions, Atreus could easily do the same. Like claiming he had a vision of his mother guiding him during a hunting trip. He could tell the whole story in the form metaphors and vaugely meaningful images. So long as they weren't blatantly obvious and reference ironwood directly i think he could come clean about the trip. He has to think like a giant from time to time.
@@Technosavy-vc7bq I mean i guess that makes sense but i think the danger that odin could possess is too much of a threat to risk it imo because it at least clues people in on the existence of the place
so kratos is giving him space to grow and taking Mímir's advice and just going with what his son wants to do. 10/10 parenting.
Well kratos does know hea going to die
His sone will eventually walk his own path, all Kratos can do is prepare him for it and for the time being, be there to help him get back up when he stumbles and falls.
I mean if your a god of war and you don't give room for your son to kill somthing your doing it wrong...
The amount of in depth development atreus is getting is making me worry for kratos' safety
I doubt they have the balls to kill Kratos, but if they do I'll be impressed.
@@vivil2533 even if he does die we have seen him literally go to hell and back
@@cookie6767 I'm specifically reffeing to a permanent for real kill, but you are right if he dies he'll be back.
Honestly I hope he dies for real. I love the idea of the franchise going forward with Atreus. Kratos dying (if done well) could make for an incredibly emotional end to his story, and beginning for his son's story.
@@vivil2533 agreed. plus it’d be nice if we got a lil scene that shows Kratos and his wife back together again, even if it doesn’t lead to their resurrection :)
@@vivil2533 I’ll roll my eyes if they kill them since that’s what the prophesy is and it’s all leading up to that. I’ll be impressed if they keep him alive since that would go against my expectations.

yo I'm shocked with how much Norse mythology Sean knows but doesn't know who Angrboda is. She is gonna play a hugeeee part in this I bet!
To be fair the missionaries who wrote all of the mythologies down didn't look too highly on women so it's not really surprising that she's barely mentioned.
@@dark_neverland Yeah fr, you go on her wiki and she was only mentioned like twice
She was barely mentioned in the Edda. Heck, Loki's wife was only mentioned once I think. Only that time Sigyn helped her husband by catching the venom on a bowl to keep it from touching the imprisoned Loki.
I mean one can forgive him for actually seeing her and not being able to connect her to a Norse mythology character even if he'd known said character.
