I was diagnosed pTis (DCIS), Stage 0 and remained Stage 0 in the Final Pathology Report after surgeries (bilateral). DCIS left breast; ADH/ALH right breast. I do have a question ... when is one considered cancer free in the diagnosis of breast cancer (any Stage).
Great question. Nmi means that there is a microscopic area of invasive cancer in the lymph node. Depending on the other features of the tumor, chemotherapy may be recommended, but we generally do not use Nmi as the only reason to consider chemotherapy.

When the cancer has been removed, a person is considered cancer-free.
