Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Thoughts and prayers to Mike and Josie. Sad to see when good quality kind hearted people have to endure very tough challenges that are out of their hands. Prayers for a turn around with Mike's health issues, and for some well deserved good fortunes to come their way. - Mike in Ontario.

Wish we could do something to help Mike get his channel back. We have been wondering why we haven't seen him anymore. We have watched Mike & Josie for years., even sent him a spoon my Husband, Barry made for him. Hope things work out for both of them. We think of them often.

Okay, this explains why I hadn’t seen any posts from Mike and Josie. Not too long ago I was thinking about them. I’ve been subscribed to the channel for a few years. Getting hacked is a total bummer. I do remember in some of his last videos he posted, he mentioned he was beginning to have some issues with pain. In a way I can relate to Mike, I have fibromyalgia, and the pain is constant 24/7 I definitely will be praying for them.✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

I’m saddened to hear this news. I’ve watched Bushcraft Bartons many times and I’ve learned a thing or two. I’ve had an account cloned (not hacked), on another platform, and know how frustrating that can be. I’ll be praying for Mr Barton and his family. I’ll also continue to pray for you Mr Young.

WOW. I subscribed to Bushcraft Bartons years ago. I always enjoyed watching their content. They are a very nice couple. I had wondered why they stopped producing content and never knew this story. Thank you Mark for sharing this. I would love to see Mike get his channel back. God bless you, my friend.

Mike too is one of my "heros". He was the main inspiration for me starting my own UA-cam channel. I really appreciated his presentation/teaching style.
A message for Mike: It IS God's will that you be healed of the debilitating affects of the headaches. Jesus bore those bloody whip stripes on His body in order that you might be healed and experience salvation. "By whose stripes ye were healed." We KNOW that it is God's will to heal us of our diseases and infirmities because the Word says we are healed. It also says that where Jesus went, He healed ALL the sick. God is the same yesterday, today and for ever. Satan is the author of the diseases and sicknesses. God the father has provided the solution through the sacrifice of His son Jesus. Besides ASKING the Lord for His salvation, we have to BELIEVE or have faith that we are saved and that His sacrificed blood has washed us of our sins. It is the same with sickness, diseases and other infirmities. We need to have faith and accept His healing and believe His word. SO much of divine healing has to do with faith and trust in God. I will be praying and trusting with you for your healing brother. And I believe that you will experience complete healing.

Thank you for this video Mark! Mike has had a huge influence on me. I don't know Mike personally as you do, but I feel like he's my brother and friend and I have talked to him through messages. I absolutely loved his channel and he is mostly the reason I "enjoy the wilderness" and also why I got into bushcraft and spoon carving. I knew of his headaches but didn't know how bad. Mike and Josie are always in our prayers. Of course it would be wonderful to see him on UA-cam again, as I truely enjoyed his videos, but much more important than that I pray God heals him, and takes care of him and Josie, blesses them and continues to use them in their life. Thanks again Mark. I really enjoy your videos and your channel also. Marty from Minnesota.

Hi Mark, so very good to hear you mention Mike and Josie here! I suspected that it may have been him when you showed us the tree chair clue and the carved spoon/Kupilka! He had a tremendous impact on my knowledge of woodsmanship and bushcraft when I first got on the Internet. I recall well your NS Bushcraft Gathering video when you folks all got together in 2016. Glad to know that you and your wife are still keeping in touch with them. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but can't help wondering if some at YT may have gotten triggered by Mike boldly and unashamedly sharing his faith in Christ in many of his vids, leading to the cancellation - hoping i'm wrong about that. Thank you for the update on his situation. Will definitely be keeping them in my prayers. Take care, and God bless you and yours!

G'day Mark, I'm lov'n that lake throughout the seasons mate. Incidently, do you fish ?
Not sure I can guess as to the peeling bark. Could be disease or insect activity, though I'll take a stab at animal rub when the tree was younger ?
Yep the "Bartons" was another of the channels I first watched, because of such knowledgeable and likable people.
Mike was the one who inspired me to carve spoons and other camp implements too; he used to do an excellent fire hardened fork and the ol' green stick tongs come to mind also.
Not the first place I saw a Silky, but i do remember it was the first time I saw a Skrarma, and I, like he, and you, get on very well with the design. You blokes seem to gravitate towards the 200, but its the 240 for me.
Mike did also show some other absolutely outstanding knives, (and yes indeed axes), from his inventory.
I haven't forgotten the Muck Boots either, among other things ; )
Btw; do you remember Mike's fellow French Canadian mate ? a real character, they did some very entertaining collabs together.
Thanks for the update Mark, albeit unwelcome news. Outdoors folk care more about each other in my experience.
Personally, "nature" is my "spiritual" connection, but I do sincerely hope through prayer or otherwise that Mike and Josie get relief from such nasty circumstances. Cheers Duke.

I can relate, 10+ years of episodic migraine with visual aura, sometimes once a month, sometimes not for 6 months. 10+ years of docs & eye docs, saying, nothing wrong with ur eyes, u've got better than 20/20 vision, implying it's all-in-my-head, I'm making it up, I just didn't know they meant it, literally. Until one particularly bad brain day, that started with another migraine with aura, tho I didn't know what the aura was called, at the time, I called them "Jaggies" cuz they looked like a jagged chain of iridescently flashing 3D trapezoidal boxes floating in from my right-side peripheral vision, encroaching on my central vision but never getting there. I could see them with both eyes, even covering each eye, alternatively, that's how u know it's all-in-ur-head, literally - it's neurological, not from ur eyes! Then they would disappear into the distance & the intense debilitating migraine pain stage would start (there are 4 stages: prodrome, aura (mostly visual, sometimes physical, sometimes perceptual, like mine - lookup AiWS Alice-in-Wonderland-Syndrome symptoms), pain stage (or lack thereof, called acephalgic migraines, a headache with no pain! Wouldn't that be great? Not really, as mine have side effects including: light & noise sensitivity, basically all 7 senses go on high alert, yeah, sight, sound, touch, smell, taste, but also vestibular & proprioception! Short term memory loss, I forget the rest, j/k, aphasia both speech production & comprehension, right-side foot drop, quadrupal double vision aka bilateral monocular vertical diplopia/cerebral polyopia, Dysautonomia/POTS type of PPCS/Long COVID, short fuse, neuro-fatigue, executive dysfunction, i am forgetting some...) & postdrome or migraine hangover). Prodrome can last for days, aura an hour, migraine a few hours to a day or longer, hangover for days, lookup migraine buddy, 4 stages of migraine, and symptoms or triggers... The annual migraine world summit just finished a week ago or so
So my bad brain day started with another migraine, but was a tolerable 5 on the 10 pain scale, so pushed thru, but next on that fateful day, Aug 13/18, 5 days b4 my Mom's 1yr death anniversary, the forest fire 🔥 smoke blowing up to Vancouver BC 🇨🇦 from Washington State was particularly bad, and triggered an asthma attack, and an aphasic focal seizure, where I lost my speech for about 20 minutes! It was the weirdest feeling, I was trying to talk to my wife, but the nouns of my sentences were just gone. My wife didn't notice I was in medical distress, she said I was just mumbling. I recovered my speech, but still couldn't breathe or walk, so drove over to Lee Valley in search for an N99 mask to help block the smoke, but the face gasket had a weird smell that made me nauseous, back to the surgical mask that I always carried, for dust, which is almost useless vs smoke (who knew that masks would become ubiquitous!?!). On the drive home I called, 811 the Nurse's Line for advice, and they said to get my butt to Emergency, STAT! But that Mt St Joseph's Hospital had the shortest wait times. 4 hours of testing & a CT scan later, I had an answer to my 10+ year question, those things i saw, the migraine aura are called scotoma, Dr Google elaborated, scintillating scotoma - it's NOT all-in-my-head, finally validated, vindicated, a doctor believes me, until the other shoe dropped, she says, they're caused by a 4.9cm "benign" cystic lesion in my left-side parietal/occipital lobe with edema & mass effect. I had a brain tumor, and referred me to Dr. Toyota at VGH, the same Neurosurgeon who operated on my Mom's brain bleed, some 12 years prior. 5 months & 3 Neurosurgeons later, Dr. Redekop operated on "Freddy" and was 95% successful, the rest was inoperable, due to SSS involvement, Superior Sagittal Sinus, the main brain 🧠 drain vein. Doc said, nick that & I'd bleed out, right quick. So he left it, and I now get annual MRi's w&w, watch & wait, so far, so good, no changes or new growth
    🤞🙏👍😎🤙
Yup, Freddy's biopsy came back as NOT benign, but grade 2, atypical parafalcine meningioma brain tumor. With a 5yr 60% chance of recurrence, and 63.8% chance of being grade 3, malignant😢 brain cancer. While my 5yr Cranniversary MRi was stable, reason to celebrate, the 10yr stats are WORSE...
Praying for the Bushcraft Barton's, Mike & family, hope they get their channel back, and more importantly, their health back!
    🙏👍

That's very sad to hear. I really enjoyed him and his wife. Both afflictions are entirely unfair.
I'll put my 2¢ in: 1¢ for his ailments; 1¢ for his UA-cam problem...
If he's been to a doctor and they haven't figured out what's causing his migraines, maybe an Elimination Diet is in order?
He'd have to cut out everything (including coffee!) except high-fat beef, nutrient-rich salt and water for 3 months, then add other foods one at a time to see which ones start up his ailments again.
The other thing we can all do, is contact UA-cam and put in a good word for him.
You can maybe talk to him, and then bring that up with all of us if he agrees. I'm game...

Not knowing the first thing about making videos for UA-cam, I'm wondering if people save copies of their work to their own hard drives before uploading to YT? Or is all that precious content lost forever if the UA-cam AI gets a bee in it's bonnet and takes down a good, well loved and respected channel such as theirs? (Inexplicably while leaving up channels that can only be described as trash)
