Don’t freak out about it it’s already scary enough for your daughter to go through and if she sees you freaking out it’ll freak her out even more, it’s a natural thing that’ll happen for most of her life so normalise it for her. My dad has three daughters of which I’m the youngest and when we were living with him he was amazing dealing with our periods, he wasn’t embarrassed to buy tampons/pads for us when we needed them. Hell one day he came home with a water bottle shaped like a monkey and gave it to me because he knew when I was on my period the cramps were an absolute nightmare and that I liked having something warm and fuzzy to cuddle into and he made hot chocolate without me asking him to and it helped. I wasn’t embarrassed by asking him to get sanitary products

It’s funny, I was just as composed while everyone around me was freaking out: mind you my period stain covered my ENTIRE crotch area of my light grey shorts....and I was on stage for the WHOLE camp to see. Didn’t even know about them yet, so think my 11 year old self handled the whole “why is my friend bleeding and crying” very well: kind of went into this “autopilot mode” of providing aid (change of clothes, clean up, hugs, etc). Funny enough it ended up being the reason my mom and I had the talk.

Missy kinda big now. I recognised it in the 1st episode itself. But Sheldon remained same. I think they intentionally added her first period in this episode so that we can get comfortable with the change. I really like this show. They chose actors matching their older characters from the Big Bang theory.
Missy really is growing up. I think the flowered party dress with smocking that they put her in for the Graduation episode was a little young, but it fits well with her comment of "new school, new teachers, new classmates, but same clothes, 'cause we're poor."
Parents, if you have a daughter, you need to be prepared. My mum was 9 when she got her first period, I was 11. When your daughter is around 9-10 it's a good time to start stocking up on pads and have a talk with her.

I knew about periods from probably about 5/6 I got asked to go grab a pad for my mum and I asked what they was for, my mum always had a policy if you was old enough to ask a question you was old enough to know the answer, within reason and so when I started I went down stairs, said to my mum I've started my period and she went ok well you know where they are, and went and put on a pad and then went back to bed like nothing had happened. I was almost 14 when I started, my mum was about 9/10 and my nan was about 16 I think, all my sisters started when they was around the age of 10/11 so I was the latest out of me and my sisters.
Although, many girls tend to experience their first menstrual cycle between 12 and 13, I had my first period at 11 like Missy. Also, I believe that she is due to start high school soon.

Missy kinda big now. I recognised it in the 1st episode itself. But Sheldon remained same. I think they intentionally added her first period in this episode so that we can get comfortable with the change.
I really like this show. They chose actors matching their older characters from the Big Bang theory.
Missy really is growing up. I think the flowered party dress with smocking that they put her in for the Graduation episode was a little young, but it fits well with her comment of "new school, new teachers, new classmates, but same clothes, 'cause we're poor."

Parents, if you have a daughter, you need to be prepared. My mum was 9 when she got her first period, I was 11. When your daughter is around 9-10 it's a good time to start stocking up on pads and have a talk with her.
I agree! I can't believe how many women who have made comments about not knowing what it was their first time and thinking they were dying! SO grateful for the family I grew up in!
I knew about periods from probably about 5/6 I got asked to go grab a pad for my mum and I asked what they was for, my mum always had a policy if you was old enough to ask a question you was old enough to know the answer, within reason and so when I started I went down stairs, said to my mum I've started my period and she went ok well you know where they are, and went and put on a pad and then went back to bed like nothing had happened. I was almost 14 when I started, my mum was about 9/10 and my nan was about 16 I think, all my sisters started when they was around the age of 10/11 so I was the latest out of me and my sisters.
