Thank you for your beautiful reaction, NASA! Karen had one of the finest voices ever, though sadly she was taken from us far too soon! Luckily she left us with many of her songs to continue enjoying. Try Rainy Days and Mondays, Superstar, Top Of The world and Close To You. And one day, when you get the chance try Walk Off The Earth singing From Me To You. It is about two and a half minutes and so much fun you won't believe it! Cheers,

What's bizarre is, growing up when the Ccarpenters, and other soft rock/pop groups were around, I didn't appreciate the amazing singing and songwriting, as I was into the 'harder' stuff (Cream, Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Steppenwolf, etc. - which are also incredible to listen to). But, songs like these are wonderful reminders of an era that will never be equaled.

So happy you discovered her and the Carpenters, your in for an amazing journey. They had so many great songs as others mentioned, too many to name. There will never be another Karen too, perfect voice, phrasing, tone and diction, not a word you can’t understand like the singers today always thinking about the loud note and neglecting the lower registers.

Actually the Carpenters are just Karen & Richard Carpenter. They are siblings. Richard was the pianist, arranger and musical director and Karen sang and played drums, She was a decent drummer as well. She was no Neil Peart (Rush), but then who is? She certainly had the better voice that's for sure. You should check out the Carpenters' song "Good-Bye To Love" - it represents on of the first, if not the very first, "power ballad". The guitar solo caused quite a stir among Carpenters fans as they were afraid that Karen & Richard had gone all "Hippie" on them. Gibe it a listen and you'll see why.
