What a fun video! It is crazy to be able to fit your truck & RV on a ferry! But we know it can be done!! We don't think the question were that bad at the border & pretty normally. But can see for your first time it would seem like it! Can't wait to see if Stan’s head is okay!

A long time ago before Covid, I drove into Canada with my car because I did not realize my passport had expired. (At that time, you could use an expired passport if you drove. I had my birth certificate, just in case, and yes, he entered the data into the computer.) My girlfriend was flying in commercially. I think the only questions they asked me going in, were where I was from, what I was going to do, and if I had booze or smokes or firearms. It was less than a minute. No waiting. Then I was on my way. Funny thing was, I drove all day from early morning to evening, and got to the hotel in Montreal, about 2 hours before my girlfriend got there. 😆
Coming back into the US, he asked if I bought anything and what the dollar amount was. He asked where I was from, pretending he did not recognize the license plate on my vehicle. They have a camera directly pointed at the front end of your vehicle when you drive up. He was playing the "I already know the correct answer" game. Why was I in Canada? It was already on the computer in front of him from when I originally entered Canada a week ago. Don't have your story straight, then they probably will search your vehicle and ask more questions.

Wow guys - that was the 3rd degree... our crossing into vancouver involved maybe 2 questions. (I wish they had asked one more : "Did you fasten your hitch correctly" 🤣 ). I guess they must have some database and know they were dealing with retired law enforcement. That was a cool crossing on the ferry - much bigger than our vessel; we can compare notes when we see you guys. Terrible what happened to your head - that looked horrible. Did you feel at all stressed having all your stays planned that you had to maintain the schedule - or was it not an issue. Pros and cons to that approach sometimes. Great video this looked like a lot of fun (minus the hospital visit!) and we will talk soon in AZ.

We live in upstate New York when we aren't on the road, and we have crossed the Canadian border hundreds of times during the years. I've gotta say that was the most intense interrogation I've ever seen. We have NEVER been asked a lot of those questions. It's always been the basic check the passport, and do you have tobacco, alcohol firearms with you. Did you bring anything to sell, and we are done and gone. One thing i will say is we always try to avoid the female guards as they can be very intense.

Hi Randy, the reason you think that way is because you don’t understand. We will always be sheepdogs. Jump into situations when others look away or walk away. Even retired we will always run to the line of fire when others look away. We will always protect and serve when others just serve themselves. We see behind the veil of society and see things you don’t. We are proactive not reactive. I am highly trained not untrained. To carry is not for self protection it is for the protection of others. The reason why it is daunting because I don’t have a tool I may need to stop something from happening. 97% percent of society our good good people. It is the 3% of society I watch.

What an interesting and informative video, y'all! We love those boxes from Walmart. We have some to store items in the bed of the truck under the tonneau cover and keep them organized. We'll have to figure things out when we buy a 5er, but I know they'll fit.
We've never been to Vancouver Island but have been to Vancouver BC. Putting y'all's new trailer onto that ferry was quite an experience, but y'all were awesome! The Canadian Customs Officer was pretty nice. Very professional but pleasant. Stan, you handled yourself like a champ! Nicely done!
We flew to Vancouver BC in 1999 for an Industrial Minerals Conference. No passports were required at that time, so we had to carry our declaration statements given to us and filled out on the plane and birth certificates with our drivers licenses when we went through Canadian Customs. The Customs officer was professional but somewhat brusque, but they were doing their jobs. It is THEIR country, after all. It was Dottie's first trip out of the country, so it was a bit daunting. No problem afterward, though. I picked up the rental car, and we headed to the hotel. The speed limits almost got me in trouble (kph vs mph) because the speed limit on the street we were on was 35 kph (21.7 mph), not 35 mph. Yikes. I had to force myself to pay attention. Whew! We both loved Vancouver. The hotel and restaurants took American currency (helpful), otherwise, we used a credit card. The hotel had a small café so we had supper there. When the people found out we were from the US, they were excited, since they had never been to the US. They asked about our money. We showed them a new (then) $100 bill. They were amazed and excited to meet and chat with Americans. They asked why we don't have colored money like Canada. American jokes were plentiful but were hilarious (man, do they have us down). Sometimes, it's good to see how other people view Americans. We laughed at their American jokes but parted friends. The people we met were favorably impressed.
This is late because of work, so we'll watch the next video.
Safe travels, and God bless y'all! Merry Christmas!
      Bob and Dottie

@ Hello Bob and Dottie, we can’t believe we actually gone somewhere you folks haven’t!! We must say Vancouver Island is beautiful. The beaches in Tofino are the some of most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. We can only judge it by the Hawaiian Island and the Mexican Riviera. The beaches up there are pretty much untouched but cold. The west side of the Island is Canada’s hot spot in the summer and a suffers paradise. We were surprised how tropical it looked mixed in with beautiful rain forest. You must put Vancouver Island on your bucket list. Our daughter in law’s aunt lives in Victoria. So we got the scoop on Canada. Most folks our blessed to live in such a beautiful place. However, the medical there is heartbreaking.💔 The stories of drug addiction and senior assisted living are all heartbreaking stories. Canada is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen but to live there comes at a very high cost. The people we have spoken to are some of the most wonderful folks we have ever met. Most are not happen with the current government but that’s a whole other story. The people by far are hard working, loving and kind people. Thank you for joining us! We have so much to share this was definitely a memorable place and we will definitely return to Banff and the other side. For now we will stay in the U.S. We are planning possibly going to the Florida Keys this spring. Will see how that turns out. Blessings to you, Stan and Rhonda🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
