Why the reliabity is less good on a car with four turbos ? (Serious question, answer if you can please)
@@komacent7355 Okay so for short, a turbocharger makes the engine work harder, which means it wears out quicker than an NA engine. But also just the fact that a turbocharged engine is more complex, has more components which increase the Chance of having problems especially with poor maintenance of the engine. There's more things but that would be too long 😄
@@J0riS but the turbo is a componant that only uses the energy left created from the engine that would only be wasted if the turbo wasn't there to use it. So logically, 4 turbos means a lot a lot less wasted power from the engine no ? Since it will be used by them to create even more power. Sorry again but I'm just trying to improve my knowledge
@@komacent7355 turbos are used to get more air into the cylinders, so more fuel can be added to create a more powerful combustion (because more fuel requires more air to properly explode) improving the power output of the engine. However, this more powerful explosion causes more stress on the engine components (because for example the pistons are pushed away harder), which causes these components to wear out faster, so they require more maintenance.
@@komacent7355 Well yes the turbocharger is just using the exhaust gases to power a turbine, which then pressurises air that will come back to the engine.(I see that someone already answered that) However, more turbos don't mean more power. And one big advantage of having more than one turbo is to reduce the "turbo lag" which is like a period of time between the moment you accelerate hard and the moment you reach optimal rpm. You reduce that by using the power of only half of the cylinders you have

You can’t hear noise inside, but very loud outside, if you sitting in the vehicle you won’t feel this is diesel

15 years ago, i had a 320d that would go 230 , quicker than this. this is 15 years later, one of BMW top of the line cars and it barely reaches 247 , after minutes. damn not for that prize

Definitively not, recently drove the X5 G05 M50d.
- Performance not good enough for an M Performance I would just go with 30d
- Fake sound trough speakers is annoying
- Terrible fuel economy avg. 14.6l/100km while driving between 140 - 225 km/h.
My S400D 4M avg. 8l/100km at similar speeds.
I know 8l sounds unbelievable but that’s the case.
Anyway the X5 itself is pretty good, but the M50D is simply not worth it.
Is it just me or could the zero to 100 time be better with that horsepower grip and torque

Yeah it has 2 smaller ones for reducing turbo-lag and two bigger ones to provide the boost for 400 hp

Waaaaaay too late, but I guess it could mean something. Had an opportunity to ride in one yesterday, and even though 400 hp is a lot for a straight 6 diesel (albiet with 4 turbos), 760 Nm is absolutely nuts. To put it in perspective, it is 10NM shy from McLaren 720s torque.
