Dude you are a legend. I thought I was pretty clued up on this stuff but using the PC software with your tutorial has made me re-think everything. I've really not been getting the most out of this kit. That's about to change... Thanks again.
Awesome video Scott, rocking that tele like nobody's business. I look forward to hooking up my gt8 to the program. Thanks for taking the time for this intuitive video.
You make me want to buy a Tele. That sound you're getting is amazing. Can you please explain why you would want the HD500? in my area its available used as are the Boss GT's for the same price range...
I just had some help on this in the last few days myself, i joined boss gt forum and got my diagnosis within the first day. If you've clicked preferences within the editor, and also 'checked' the debug option window ,then your problem may be in the cable. I was trying a hosa usb to midi interface and it did not let the gt 8 reply back. I tried 2 regular midi cables thru my Presonus and all is good now. Try joining boss gt forums and asking if this doesn't help your connection problem.
Hiya All. Just thought I'd drop you a line to say I'm in the process today, of making a video of a step by step guide to connecting your GT8 up to your PC using a Midi Interface. Hope this helps. Should be up by tomorrow. :-)
Hi Scott, I've tried to download the GT8 Floor board but could only find the GT6 and below. I was trying to add a loop effect pedal as shown in your above video but don't know how as I can't seem to find a loop effect to record then play over on the GT8 inbuilt effects. Can you help out please? Dale, Australia
Thanks Maloose. To really be honest I'm not sure on the GT8 and GT10 question. As far as I know the functionality of the 2 is the same but some people say the quality of the amp sims on the GT10 are better. All down to try before you buy I think. Just choose which you prefer. Mind you, I would save up and get the HD500.
Scott, great stuff learned more in 20 mins than i did last 2 years..... cannot connect to pc at all got now cable says gt8 processor not found. any help on this greatly appreciated
I tried a USB to MIDI first but had problems with it, i use 2 midi cables and hook it up through my Presonus interface, works great now, what a great program. You need 2 MIDI cables, one to send information and one to receive.
Hey man, just about to buy a gt - 8 to use in a pink floyd tribute band (Relics) that I play guitar for, have you got any videos on here that would help me?
Hi Scott, thanks for the videos. I watched this video a while ago and I am watching it again now while I play with my GT8. But I was wondering if you now how to access the solo switch with this editor?
Hey Scott! Great job! I've downloaded the GT FX Floorboard for my GT-8, what type of cable are you using to connect to the PC? Thanks and keep rockin'!
Hey dude amazing video your an especial guy sharing all this with the world, i'm a brazillian guy owner of a GT8, could you share this 2 patches your using the clean and the dirt one coz i play with an telecaster and really loved the sound. Thanks!!
Hi Scott.......i am very excited in trying out this gt-8 fx floorboard....but my computer is not recognizing my gt8 via m-audio Uno - 1-In/1-Out USB Bus-Powered MIDI Interface. Please advise what i should doi., Thanks so much....aggie
Could you make a Francis Rossi Status quo patch? He uses a Fender Tele, a Marshall JCM 800, a vox ac30, a Roland gp100 and a wireless system. Let me know please
Hey mate, this is an awesome software, been using the GT8 for years and never new there were programs like this out there! Question though, can I back up my GT8 using this software?
Thanks for the video... quick question... you need a "MIDI to USB" cable, right? Is that how you find/order it? Any recommendations or specifics on which cable to get? Thanks again : )
Someone should post a video which shows everything. From the moment you plug it in until you have a great sound, so including the downloading. I always give up after watching these videos after about 3 minutes. I have had my GT 8 for years now and I know I should get much more out of it.
Hiya just found this - thanks for the info and great tips- hope you are still on the case??!! I still can't get the floorboard software software to transfer the patch data. Cables connected ok usb showing ok in ctrl panel. Just wondered if you could suggest anything else Thanks Pete
heya Scott, can u please explain and go thru step by step how to connect fx floorboard to the gt-8. i have the midi cable and software, BUT its not recognizing the gt-8. if anyone can help that would be great :)
If I wanted to use the GT8 via Midi cable, I need an external sound card for PC? ? I currently use the gt8 connected in the entrance (line input) PC! Will I get a better sound by connecting via midi? Thanks in advance!
? for anyone reading comments...My Gt-8 is flashing and re-setting the preamp/amp sim while I'm playing...and completely random to what it resets it self to.Any ideas what could cause this?
Hi Scott Please help!!! I recently got a gt8, bought a cd-rom from eBay with a zillion patches on it and was advised that once I transferred the patches to my PC and plug in a usb to midi I could transfer all patches to the gt8.After spending way too many hours trying the above I still have nothing,so here's me praying you can tell me where I'm going wrong before I end up throwing the thing through the window :( Thanks in anticipation. Rick.
Hi Rick. Well If I remember from my GT8, you could download the gt8 librarian and the editor. For the life of me, I couldn't get the librarian to transfer patches to the GT8. However the GT8 editor did give me the ability to import patches. Once you import onto your GT8 you should be able to save them to a user patch. Make sure you save them to a user patch and not the preset area. This is hard to explain though as I only have the GT100 now. But if I remember you just use the import function under the GT8 editor I explain about in this video. Hope this helps. Scott
Hi. Well you can either use the single patch level which is one of the options under the "Master" button, use the master level knob on the back for overall system level, or boost each frequency of the eq under the "Output Select" button. Lastly just use the main output lwvela of any of the amps or the eq's you are using. I normally have the level on the back of the unit at about 80% and then depending on the blend of the amps.
Hmmm. Doesn't sound good. You could try and do a factory rest on it and reset all the patches. Or could be the battery. Just do a search on the web for replacing battery on Boss GT8. Apart from that I think it's a case of contacting Roland sorry.

As soon as sorted I'll post more bids.
How you set the output level
Thanx man
My pleasure :-)
