Our one year old German Shepherd dog, Beck, was very nervous when we first brought home our ginger kitten, Bleu. It took about a week before Beck figured out all Bleu wanted to do was play, and they've been best friends ever since. For the last six months they've been play fighting, fight fighting, chasing, and cuddling each other every day.

German shepherds make great parents, and they know how to tone things down for the young and weak ones.

The German Shepherd could easily eat the kitten in one or two chomps. The fact that he is so sweet with him is heartwarming. I LOVE animals!
I bet the cat learned some good strategy's to avoid that as it grew up.
When the dog on its back, and the cat is playing as the victor definitely shows their love and trust. The dog is absolutely letting the cat play like it won some awesome battle. The pupper is so gentle.

The kitty playpen is a brilliant idea for introducing kittens to dogs, keeping them safe in their own environment! Great, responsible pet owners!😻😻😻
A large playpen is great for puppies too. I used to put a small litter box in the pen. The puppies figured out how to use it like kittens. It's a great way to start potty training. Of course if there's a litter of like 10 retriever babies it wouldn't work too well. You would definitely need something bigger.

I love how the precious German Shepherd bites so gently and somehow “knows” not to bite normal or play rough. Love is amazing on any level. ❤️
My parent's Doberman/Sheppard was the same way. Even though he was called Chewy, he never bit us; he just massaged our fingers with his teeth.
Most dogs know that (especially larger ones to puppies or smaller dogs) that they can hurt each other and play lightly. Thayer also kind of thought that because they will be punished for playing rough just line if they did any other bad behaviors
Cron's...terriers do not accept others. My husband and I had a mini schnautzer and once my husband found a stray and brought him home - I told him to meet me and our dog at a neutral place and when he got there because "daddy" was holding another dog, ours went berserk.

One time a crocodile was trying to attack a cat when it ended up being the one getting attacked and having to leave.
It’s one thing if an animal is attack from behind and gets scared and leaves, but for a cat to defend itself against a prepared crocodile is something else.

I was raised by German Shepherds, and if they are socialized with other critters early on they are very gentle with them! Our parakeets loved to sit on their noses! Also, they knew how much rough housing I could take at each age. Gentle and sweet, but also a living fence! My “hairy sister”, Annie loved birds and they would fly in circles above her in the yard and they would talk back and forth. One night, though, my Mom looked at her and she was staring at the ceiling with her head going around and around and she had those worry wrinkles over her eyes. It was a bat in the house circling the room! She was so confused 😂

I agree, Life is what you make of it and how you see it. I hear people say a lot that the world is 'shit' but I just am not feeling that or seeing it because of how I live my life. Don't like what you see or are around? change it. If you constantly walk through shit and place yourself in front of shit to watch, you're gonna say life is shit for sure.
Some ideas for a more peaceful life: meditate daily, exercise, eat well, eat/drink less caffeine, meat, and alcohol; sleep 8-9 hours per night, work to view your thoughts and make them more positive (this is a tough one, good luck!) want less *things* (In doing so, become aware of your ego), spend more time with animals, work to really 'be' in the present moment, you are a human being, not a human doing, and of course spend less time on social media. It's almost impossible to not have negative happenings and ideas in your face if you spend time on social media.

It is amazing to see how both of them play just rough enough and know how not to hurt each other. I do wonder how many times they made mistakes before they figured that out, though.
Err I dont think a fully grown GS would be able to make many with a tiny kitten, one mistake would crush a skull..... God forbid.
This sort of play is an essential part of development among social predators. They're learning about actions and consequences in a social setting. They're learning to communicate, how to enter into a shared activity and how to withdraw from it, how to set boundaries and recognize them in others, how to quickly establish who is leader and who is follower in a given situation. Predators, especially, have to learn how to express their emotions with just the right amount of force.
Ordinarily, of course, this all takes place within the same species, which is what we would expect from natural selection. But the behaviors are so fundamental and diverse that they readily adapt across other species as well. I find it very encouraging that this instinctive drive is already in place. If predators aren't forced by circumstance to kill for survival, they may well prefer to get along together. Some individuals don't by reason of temperament, and some species express the capacity for outright cruelty. So it's not all a pretty garden of flowers by any means. But it seems that these kinder behaviors have clear evolutionary advantages, even across species. Parasitism, on the other hand, is more of a niche adaptation that starves itself if taken too far. It's better to be kind, that's what evolution is telling us.

It’s so sweet to see a dog and cat play. The dog was so gentle with his mouth and teeth, never biting down. I was raised with a a dog/cat home. The cat would clean the dogs ears. They really loved each other.
For me it was the other way around. The cat was somewhat lazy about washing and the dog would clean him up. For the cat that felt a bit like going through a car wash.

Your German Shepherd looks like the one I got back in the days. God I miss him. He was almost like yours regarding his behaviour, too. Well, these kind of dogs are just like their boss. So well done!
German Shepherds are so amazing! People don't give them enough credit as family dogs. Mine also has a really good relationship with my kitten. I call them brothers because they are truly just like siblings. They play and sleep together often. Love this video, very cute!

What entertainment. I loved watching them play. You can tell it's not just play.They love each other. Beck grooms the kitten and then rolls on his back. You know Beck trust the little guy when he exposed his belly.

I kind of get where you come from, but humans getting educated by animals we would start killing each other for food, territory, or pussy, "domestic" animals are only this cute and playfull cuse we made them be.

No stupid music - No multiple interruptions for ads - no owner selfies - He is a loving gentle and patient dog that could've turned that cat into hamburger in seconds. Love it...
