  • I'm Michelle Hammer and I have Schizophrenia. I set up a security camera to record myself having schizophrenia psychosis episodes. In this video, I show 3 different episodes I had while sitting on my living room couch. I want to show that they are not dangerous, or violent.
I added commentary after the 3 initial videos explaining what was going on in these videos.

Thanks, Michelle, for your upload and commentary. Really helping to disprove the still prevalent stigma of schizophrenia.

When you have these episodes, how long does it take for you to come back to reality? Also do you ever go into psychosis? You look pretty chill to be honest in the videos, not scared or anything.

So check it out, I know absolutely nothing about schizophrenia, let me preface what I'm about to say with that. Watching you reminded me of something in my own life. Long story short I've been thru a lot of traumatic shit. At one point, I was having a private session with a therapist in an outpatient treatment program that treated an array of issues people had. When I shared with the therapist one of my coping mechanisms they asked me to come work for them. That mechanism was to basically go thru the trauma (act it out, if you will) but to get out what I needed to say or change what I needed to change, physically fight the air or whatever that particular traumatic event needed for me to try and heal. It's like replying the event over and over and changing the parts that caused trauma to the point of being about to move the trauma thru the body and begin to release it. Watching and listening to you made me think of this. You having a conversation about something that was bothering you deeply enough to talk and interact physically even tho no one else was there reminded me of my own coping. Again, I don't know anything about schizophrenia, but from the outside looking in, I'm wondering about the possible parallels. What are your thoughts?

It can be triggered by trauma yes. But I have no control over doing this. It’s not my decision.

I do this weird thing where I shake my hands for about five seconds really rapidly after being stimulated by something and imagining I'm a professional sportsman scoring a point for my team like in football or hockey. It only happens when i'm alone though. I don't know if this is common or if there is a name for it but this happened way before I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. I try to stop doing this but I have a hard time sometimes.

And I have question how much time took every schizophrenia episode ? And do you feel tired after it ? And what do you do for rest rather than taking meds.

Do you know that in psychology sciences the person who is talking to himself or herself is a genius and smart one ? Maybe schizophrenia illness is a genius one because people talking to themselves, maybe I don't know brain 🧠 how could work and put us in way we don't understand. You are a courageous women, ambitious and I think you should write a book about your experiences. Glad to watch you and learn from you a lot about this mental illness. Always brain attracted me.

I meant to say it's normal talking to yourself but it's not normal talking to yourself and someone else interrupted you. And if you're hearing voices those are people we're seeking for the equipment that for those were been forced into but no one owns the equipment. It is normal talking to yourself you'll be alright

It is normal talking to yourself but is not normal talking to yourself and someone interested. But people that talking to themselves are not accepted from people in this society only if there explaining themselves. But it is normal to talk to yourself nothing wrong with that
