I have read Anna Karenina and War and Peace this year. Took me about a month to Finnish War and Peace. I loved both books mostly because of Tolstoys character writing and how the characters change throughout the story. My best advice is don’t force yourself to read anything. If you are not enjoying it, put it aside. You may find that you just aren’t in a place in your life where you are ready for it. And also don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself to read it in a certain amount of time, read at your own pace and enjoy it.
I love War and peace. It took me about ten attempts to finish but it was worth it. I recently brought A Suitable Boy, the Indian version of War and Peace - over 1,500 pages long
I just stumbled across this video and wanted to say that a possible reason you weren’t getting into it is the translation! I’ve had terrible experiences with the the translators of your edition, and if you ever decide to return to W&P I highly recommend the penguin Anthony Briggs translation, it’ll be smooth sailing. W&P can be a life changing reading experience if it finds you at the right time. Happy reading!
I read W&P a couple years ago and the copy I had was in three volumes, and if I recall the whole thing was in 6 different "books" or "parts". I remember I got through part one okay, then I found part two soooo boring that I almost gave up. Then once moved away from the battlefield I got invested again and just kept going. By the third volume it was effortless and thought it was one of the best books I ever read
Hi Rebecca, this is Alia💗.I watch your video from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Now I’m in half way of the second volume of War and Peace. I started reading it on the 13th of May. The Arabic translation of the novel it’s almost as the size of the book you’re holding but in 4 separate volumes, maybe because the English font is so small idk. I hope you enjoy your reading.
Have you ever read War and Peace? Let me know if you want to see a part 2!
Honestly it would be very cool to read the whole thing, that would be a very impressive accomplishment in life lol!
I heard the book is boring. I am reading John Saul's Midnight Voices lately I have been reading all his books.
@@ArtistAsh529 that’s why I tried it! We’ll see if I actually finish lol 😂
@@Booknerd1 it is definitely very slow! It gets better the more you read it 😊
Well I did read Leo's Anna Karenina and that book was good
_À la recherche du temps perdu_ (7 volumes) by Marcel Proust is the longest book in the world.
I agree with you. When forcing to read, it's difficult to enjoy reading. Take much time as you want for war and peace. Love to see part 2 ❤
Thank you! ☺
It's not war and peace, but I'm currently reading Watership Down, which is essentially just 600 pages of rabbits travelling around 😂
Still a super long book! Good luck with finishing it 😊
I just got to volume 2 of War and Peace and I am loving it. I would love to see part 2. Please don't give up!
Thank you! I’m going to keep reading so I’ll let you know how I feel about it once I’m done 😊

reading in the closet hits different
I am Russian and for some reason I didn't realise that it was the longest book in existence. I read it though and found quite interesting
Definitely not the longest ever, but the longest I could find in the bookstore that day! I’m glad you liked it 😊😊
War & peace is a classic …
I read only about 50 pages … 😅

I just started reading War and Peace and my goal was to finish it in two months… lol I gave myself a lot of time but think I can finish before then.
That's pretty fast when you're talking about War and Peace! Good luck :)
I think you should read "In Search of Lost Time" by Marcel Proust next! 😅😬
Printout list of characters to have handy as you read. Once you do this it is a fairly easy read.
Great book.
Update: Now I just reached book 3 part 2 on War and Peace
