    Note for people wanting to double power shards; don't forget to run a single production of any other basic recipe after putting in the somersloop. It takes 1 production run before the output is actually doubled.
    So for example, if you just put down a constructor and load a somersloop and 5 blue power slugs, you will get 9 power shards (1 x 1) + 4 (2 x 1) because the first power slug will not be doubled.
    But, if you put down a constructor, load in a somersloop, then make 1 iron rod before putting in the 5 blue power slugs, you will get 10 power shards 5 (2 x 1) because the 1 iron rod was not output doubled.
    Definitely important to know early game if you don't have very many resources and are trying to make every little bit count.

      This is something that should go into a bug report because if one puts somersloops and slugs into a machine to craft power shards the machine should simply work as intended and give you double power shards. There's no excuse.

    For even daring to disable FICS*MAS I cast you with the dreaded curse of an entire section of your giant factory seemingly not working at all because of one little tiny mistake you made several hours ago so you will have to look for the issue by checking every single very tiny and barely-visible spot which sometimes will require you to manually delete and re-place major parts of your factory to do so
    Which is something that obviously never happened to me and obviously did not happen like 5 hours ago when this comment got posted

    8:20 This does not actually double your production until a production cycle completes after putting in the somersloop, so RIP 5 power shards. You want to first run some random recipe in the constructor to get the somersloop active before you switch to power shard production.

      Let's be honest it's a bug right ? Doesn't seem to work as intended as when i put a sommersloop in a machine why would i not want the first production to be doubled, hope they'll fix it in the future even though i got used to it and left the sommersloop inside to prevent the hassle of changing the recipe everytime i want to make shards

    Hey Kibs, a quick thing to point out, if you're building with blueprints, if you hit (by default) R with the hologram out, you'll switch to Blueprint Mode, so your blueprint holograms will snap together if you press Shift.
    Figure that might help with your mass-scale blueprint spam as you make these mega factories.

    I did a mirror rubber-plastic setup: looped one to another and only adding fuel to prefilled refineries - way less beltwork - smart spliters sending excess rubber and plastic surpluss outside the loop.

    For this setup I use a dead simple methode : I put a row of refinery with their input looping back into their output and that I provide with fuel, with an overflow priority splitter for output. I made an excel sheet to calculate which proportion of the refineries has to be rubber or plastic, and their you go with this method I can setup any plastic / rubber prod in less than 20mn. If you are interested I can send you the excel and a scheme that explains the process better

    1:48 Kibbits you probably would have an interesting series if you did a playthrough of modded Minecraft. Hearing the mention of coal coke makes me think of Immersive Engineering and a pair of coke ovens hooked up to a fluid tank either from Immersive Engineering or another mod (IE doesn't have great storage per. space with its stuff compared to other mods for Minecraft depending on what mods you or a modpack are using)

    I actually made a very simple blueprint with 2 refineries, with 1 making recycled rubber, the other making recycled plastic, and feeding each other to be 100% efficient.

    I made a self contained loop with plastic and rubber being overflowed out of the machines and fuel and OH. MY. GOD.
    Almost fits in a blueprint.

    @9:00 Why wouldn't you create a blueprint that has multiple machines feeding into each other? You've described a super complicated system, but you can manage that complexity really well by just bundling a set of machines into a blueprint and copy-pasting that

    I made almost the exact same spreadsheet setting up my plans for Turbo/Ionized Fuel Plant layout lol. The byproducts make my plastic and rubber!

    Mood. I spent last probably 10 sessions setting up, reworking, reworking and reworking my 2700 crude oil setup. But now the initial 3 steps are almost done with their 129 refineries and some blenders. Cool to watch that I'm not the only one getting fun from the oil processing.

    Untangling the oil production maze was actually really fun from my experience. My favorite way to process it takes all the alternative recipes, 3 parts oil, and 10 parts water. It outputs 3 parts plastic and 6 parts rubber with no other byproducts. You turn all the Resin into Rubber and all the Heavy oil into Diluted Fuel, then you just weave the recyclers together. Works best with multiples of 450 oil so you can full pipe the water.

      I spent a good few minutes scratching my head wondering where he got the extra 1000 rubber per minute from.

    The only problem with rounding down is that your numbers might not line up of byproduct producers to byproduct users, so you end up with full byproduct lines. If you go the other direction and always round up machines may turn off for a moment but should always use up all materials.

    A sorter and a bunch of slooped Constructors was the first thing I laid down at what has become my main base. Double Proteins and Double Shards anytime I come back from Hard Drive Hunting or clearing a space for a factory

    you can set the overclock in the modeler as well to plan 1:1 get the right amount of machines needed etc. and don't need to recalculate when you are ingame

    Also, you can use the fields in the overclock section to do your math and get exact overclock speeds. For example, I only want to consume 22.5 iron plates but the recipie calls for 30. Put "22.5/30*100" in the percentage field. Don't worry about parentheses or order of operations.

    8:24 Didn't show the result because the FIRST product of the constructor with the Somersloop installed does NOT double the output. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but that's what it does.

      Except for the fact that coal refers to a specific type of substance irl, as does petroleum coke. It would be pretty dumb to arbitrarily call an oil product any form of “coal” when it by DEFINITION is not coal.
      The main reason it is used in coal gens in the game is because it is a combustible solid material that would feasibly work to turn water into steam. Petroleum Coke works purely as a SUBSTITUTE for coal, and in fact is much less efficient in a generator than actual coal or its enhanced form, Compacted coal. It’s a “whatever works” solution.
      It would be like calling Aspartame a legitimate “sugar” for the purposes of things like baking or other production. Which is objectively false. It is called “Artificial Sweetener” and used in “sugar free” foods for a reason.
      It LOOKS like coal. It BEHAVES like coal, but it is NOT coal.

    I never throw away resin. It makes nearly free rubber. If you use all the resin, you probably get as much plastic and rubber as you'll ever need. The fuel recycling alt loops can be used to boost production as needed. I think I'll design my system to dynamically produce more of whatever is needed, then burn the excess for power.

      Thats what i did, OP. Convert crude oil directly into resin, then re-process all the resin into residual plastic and residual rubber. And simultaneously make the Heavy Oil Residue into fuel to burn for a bunch of excess power.
      Recycled oil products are also on the table for some of the fuel if need be…. But let’s be real, when you are using the above system, odds are two fully utilized pure oil nodes will provide PLENTY of products.

    A note on sometsloop doubling, the first recipe will NOT be doubled. It takes a craft to update so if you are making something expensive switch the machine to a cheaper recipe for the first craft. Once it is done you can change the recipe back. Efficiency First Pioneers.

      No, exponential power law. An analogy, driving a car at about 40 mph or 64 km/h, you get the maximum efficiency: 1-to-1 direct drive gear in transmission, and minimal wind drag vs speed. Call that 100%. Now, if you drive 2x faster at 80 mph / 128 km/h, you'll burn maybe 3-5x as much fuel. If going 60 mph or 96 km/h, 1.5x faster, you'll only burn about 2-3x as much fuel,. and so on. The farther above 100% you go, the more energy it takes to go one unit faster.

      power scaling uses an exponential curve calibrated so that 200% output takes 250% power and 50% output takes 40% power on the flip side

    Hey kibs and commenters, I recently made a turbo fuel power plant that should be making 130,000 megawatts of energy, but for some reason my pipes do not want to stay at 600m/s of throughput, and it only generates around 80-90 thousand megawatts.
    Any advice?

      MK.2 Pipes doen‘t work very well with an 600 m/s output. It has been a problem for a long time now. I hope it gets fixed soon

      I had the same problem. It turned out that the input side of the pipes was the issue. I made sure that the distance from blender output to the junction is equal on both input sides. I removed all valves and overclocked all generators to 250%. It works perfectly now.

    I dont know if that only was a me problem, but when I was doing my plastic project, my full 600 m³/min mk2 pipes of HOR they kept filling up, even though the math was right. I eventually fixed it with only having half full mk2 pipes and now it works just fine. So im just gonna throw a be careful with full mk2 pipes out here
