Until the patient runs out or a massive chock a mull check is wrote by Milwaukee I do not think Bosch would give X Lock to them. Bosch would be nuts to do so.

I've used and own an m18 brushed grinder. I used the first fuel brushless grinder. I used both with 6.0xc batteries. They drain the battery in 8-10 minutes of continuous use. The welder at our work has the paddle version seen in this video. I got to use it with the 12.0 high output battery. It' performed better than the corded metabo, dewalt and makita. It's the smoothest grinder cleaning flanges and welds using the wire wheel. I used it for 5 minutes. On 4 6 inch flanges. It still had 4 bars when I was done.
]the Dewalt corded had a higher RPM.
The batteries are more than the grinders.
If you got the money this grinder is awesome.

In my line of work i use the milwaukee 9 inch angle grinder with the fixtec locking system, ive found that to get the most out of this angle grinder is to use 3mm steel cutting discs and have two 12 amp high output batteries and have a charging dock with me at all times, as one battery on full charge lasts 45 minutes of cutting time on one battery which in my opinion is poor considering the price

Just purchased the 2980-20 with 13A power and it handles 4-1/2 to 6-1/4 disks. Used it with a 6.0 battery for some concrete grinding already and am thoroughly satisfied with this tool. Now I just need a better facemask to deal with the concrete dusk ugh!!

I’m looking at that one now. How long do you suppose it lasts? I got the high output 6.0 batteries. I’ve been wary of getting a cordless grinder because the time that i use them for. I cut, grind, bevel, deburr, remove paint, slag, and polish metal so it’s my most used tool by far.

I think the feature the M18 brushless grinders lack is a top mounting hole for the handle. My cheap Skil and MasterCraft grinders do, the brushed M18 does too. I don't get why they don't put it on the other grinders.

I am a tile setter and use cordless grinders on the daily. I cannot use X-Lock because most tile cutting bits / blades do not work with that system. The grinder is really nice but is more suited to metal workers. Mikita seems to do a bit better in my trade. The smaller batteries, grip, slid switches allow holding the grinder at different angles more comfortable pulse help with balance. I would love to see them make a grinder with some of these features so I can have one battery system.

I use grinders almost every day, I have 4 or 5 setup, I hate them all but one. Any of them with a switch typically suck. They get caked with debris and wont lock on. I have actually been looking for new grinders, and the X-Lock seems nice, but not a requirement since I have each tool setup with a different attachment (grinder, cutter wire wheel etc). My favorite is my big DeWalt, that locking nut on that thing is awesome, makes changes pretty dang fast.

Metabo came out with the cordless to corded option. witch would be amazing for the heavy tools like the table saw or chop saw or circ even. I asked the Makita rep if they were planning on something similar and they said some garbage answer "we believe cordless will provide all your needs on a jobsite" that made me refuse to enter into their new XGT lineup. Give US the damn option. The more toolmakers that follow metabo on this will make more people switch to their platform. for example Milwaukee or dewalt or bosch. Turn those cordless tools that are ... ok. into corded BEASTS given the correct situation. don't try to sell me on a cordless stationary object like a chop or table saw. Sell me a corded saw that has an option to run on a battery if the situation calls for it.

I love my cordless tools and use them often, but I will still continue to use so many corded tools. We really need to step back and realize we're being hoodwinked into paying 2 to3 times more for a tool because it's cordless and then pay outrageous prices for batteries that are essentially consumables. Also, the influencers make damn sure they condition you with their testing to abuse these batteries and run them to empty, instead of actually caring for their potential longevity by not running them empty. 290 bucks for a grinder is nuts. 220 for a grinder is nuts. I rehab old homes and we run grinders to death. We run them 8 hours a day and there's no way cordless will do that, even with multiple batteries because of all the BS electronics in the tool. Then again, you're also going to destroy a grinder that even at its cheapest is probably double the 60 dollar Bosch and Makita models we use. Sorry, I'm just not letting myself get my lip hooked.

I've worked in the field for decades.... Toughen up buttercup. I can change a disc pretty fast, but I wouldn't trade in my Milwaukee tools because they don't have X lock. Milwaukee tools make up the difference working all day, all week, all year. Trying to make up 5 seconds 4 times a day? You need to get out in the field.
Does X lock make a speed loader tool belt? That way you wouldn't waste 20 seconds walking to your toolbox to grab another disc? Get real

    • @will8649
      @will8649 2 роки тому

@@edpoints1127 Where Xlock really shines is you are working on a piece, you clamp it down to cut something off. Now you can immediately switch disk so you dont have cut everything first. This is why most guys have multiple grinders but now you can have one grinder that does everything.

Don’t care about x lock. I’ll grab a second grinder. Plus they don’t make all the discs for that. I want Milwaukee to get paddle switch with locking ability. I have yet to get this because of that. My old ryobi has it and i refuse to switch that single tool because i love it. Also love how the handle rotates but i could live without it.

That makes no sense, why would Bosch refuse to license it to Milwaukee. Milwaukee/TTI would have to pay Bosch, that is why they haven’t adopted it. Milwaukee is going to wait for the patent to expire in another 13 years or so and then they will adopt it because their parent company TTI, dictates what Milwaukee can and cannot do.

I don't know anyone who would want x-lock. Looking at the system it's going to make for more expensive discs and introduce potential reliability issues. Then, of course, you now have a dependency on a locking system which is going to limit the disc options available to you. There's no reason you couldn't skirt their patent and utilize a simple system that would work on normal discs -- the reality, though, is any type of locking mechanism on something that is rotating that kind of mass at those kinds of speeds... you will simply have an inferior product. You're talking about guys who are running grinders for hours -- 20 seconds to change a disc isn't exactly the thing I'm worried about.

I do not believe Milwaukee wants to use xlock. First there are more blades out there on the market with the standard nut So this means more cost effective for the user when buying blades. The xlock feature is ok for someone not using a grinder all day every day. But the standard nut lock system has more choices from blade manufacturers. Speaking from someone in the industrial power industry that buys hundreds of grinders a year. And thousands of blades. The xlock does not interest me from cost on the consumables side of the tool

I find it funny that no matter what anyone comes out with someone will always find something wrong with it. I see this all the time with camera manufacturers and their “loyalists” always have something to find that would make the camera the “perfect” tool. The reality is understanding the tools limitations and capabilities for the application is what really matters. If you can’t figure out a way to make it work for your application then you have no business doing the job in the first place.

I don't see a need for vary speed. Dewalt grinders seem to be better in ergonomics and performance. Dewalt safety switches are the best. Paddle is the worst. Milwaukee performance trips out even on a 6 or 12 amph. There may be a reason Dewalt has not gone bigger than 7 inch even at 60v. I have both red and yellow. Red 9 inch is okay for small jobs.
