@@illdaddyrod it's beautiful to witness! I love reptiles, I don't own any (would love to when my children are older), so I enjoy videos like this, seeing the obvious bond between you 2 is great 😁❤️
I think it’s possible his seasons are turned around because of air conditioning in the summer? It’s just a thought. Thanks for sharing your Buddy experiences with us.
Are you sure that that isn't hurting him? When my lizards started shedding, I really had to pay attention to which parts were loose and which parts still stuck, to not rip their skin. I ended up softening it with water to make sure.
tegus have smooth skin like snakes where most other lizards dont so theres not as much risk of pulling on a scale. id say hes ripping very loose parts so i think hes fine
DUDE HOW DO U GET THE SHED OFF HIS TAIL LIKE THAT, MINE HAS THE SAME THING BUT IT WONT COME OFF NO MATTER WHAT rest of her body is fine but her tail has a brownish timt from the built up skin its worrying me
Idk if this is true but I heard somewhere that it's not good to help reptiles shed their skin because the skin might not be ready and it can cause pain to the reptile. Do you know if this is true?
The pieces I pulled off literally fell right off. I didn't force any off or pull on any that didn't just come off. I help him all the time in the bath as well. He rubs on me for help often too, especially on his face by his eyes.
Yes, you're not supposed to do this. If you had a bad sunburn and were peeling would you want someone to rip the dead skin off of you. You have to be careful as some areas may not be ready to be peeled off and are sticking to the reptile and you can rip/hurt their new skin. If you want to do this you're supposed to soak them in warm water for about 20 minutes and then GENTLY pull the skin, to see if it will come off.
Just got a 2 year old Tegu yesterday that was not cared for correctly. She is missing 5 toes due to stuck shed, she has layers of stuck shed on her tail, and is half the size she should be for her age. Other than soaking what do you recommend for getting stuck shed off tail?
First off thanks for rescuing that tegu. How is its demeanor? Friendly? Mine has trouble with shed on the lower half of tail. Keeping the humidity up to at least 70% will help a lot. Soaking in the tub daily will help too. I will rub baby oil on Buddy's tail as well. I've heard KY jelly works well too. That's about all you can really do. Buddy lets me pick at his tail to help. He doesn't mind at all. If yours will let you do that will help too.
@@illdaddyrod She is so far not to bad. I do wear gloves because she has food aggression and thinks anything coming near her is food, but once i pick her up she relaxes and loves the attention. Ill give the baby oil a try, also be taking her to vet soon for a checkup due to person who had her never took her in, and kept her in a 40 breeder, and no uvb. But she does not seem to have mbd. I have her in with 8 to 10 inches of substrate and she loves it.. I dont think shes ever been able to dig and bury herself before. So thank you for the information I appreciate it very much.
Um, this is not good. Soak him and let normal activity accelerate the shed. Never ever pull dry shed, come on! Also, offer him his shed to eat, amazing benefits.
Are you suppose to just quickly rip them off like that? Serious question, not criticism because I’m no expert. I just saw you rip a few times that looked a little iffy, like that big one at the beginning of the vid that went to his face. It was attached to his eye and I’m just wondering if that can be dangerous.
People: wow that's bad for him
Tegu: * actively crawling onto his lap *
He’s clearly terrified, duh. Cuddling someone is definitely a fear response. This is absolutely animal abuse.
//sarcasm
It's wholesome to see he crawled up on you which means he loves and trusts you a lot!
I like how he just scoots around
He’s running away :(

Hyper Nova I learned something new thank you!
In the lizard world it’s called Brumation :)
Nico thank you for teaching me something new! 🤗
I wanna sleep for a week
I will come back in 5 years, when youtube will recommend me this
Or nine months either or
4 years to go 🙌🏾

It must be so damn itchy when it gets stuck! I love how he's just doing his own thing whilst you help him
He just went through a shed this week. He completely trusts me to help and I trust him 100% as well.

Buddy almost acts like a dog! He's so cute!♥️
Did it bother anyone else when we wasn’t getting his other leg when it was clearly ready to be pulled off? No just me? K
No it was bothering me as well 😂.
He seems to be a very content tegu, I hope it stays that way forever for you too
I help my tegu also but i will soak him in the bath first to loosen any stuck pieces and just gently pull the shed off and it works fine.
Very cool both visual and audio. Thank you
It’s amazing that when they shed their paws, the shed looks like a little empty glove.
Oddly satisfying video . Thanks
He's beautiful and so tame
He,s a good boy .I'd never thought he,d let him do it.👍👍👍👍😲😲😲😲
A beautiful thing you have there!

Just because bearded dragons cant have shed ripped off doesnt mean that other lizards cant
Nick Butler actually I. Pretty sure lizards can’t talk dumbass
Meetmy Beet they can vocalise and would if In pain or act very defensive
That’s good he lets you help
this is incredibly wholesome
Beautiful he is.
I’m not a reptile fan generally but that’s a cute animal.
I wasn't either, until I got one of these. They're not what I was expecting from a reptile. Way more loveable and bonding.
May I suggest letting him soak first? It’ll loosen the scales I think
I love his chunky cheeks lol
Love this channel. :)
Thank you!
I LOVE THE SOUND WvW
He wants hugs!
This definitely got to be FLORIDA or somethin
Hes soooo cute ahhhh

Puppy dog tame. My gentle giant
Not a lizard expert or anything but I've heard you're not supposed to pull molting scales off
I would die to be able to pick that off
If u have trouble taking it off its not ready to be peeled
Shouldn’t you soak him and then remove his shed?
Why is your dog shed sounds sound like Velcro man
Does pulling off the dry skin hurt the reptile?
No your helping them

Damn dude, put a rug down so he can crawl.
Now i want to keep reptiles
He needs to crawl on a rough surface to help him shed, not slippery floor tiles!🙈
could you show his enclosure?
Friendly reminder to peel your Tegus
Does it feel like peeling an onion, or is it more like shucking corn?
He do got waves doe 😲🥵
I thought you were supposed to soak the before you assisted with shed. It sounds painful.
He got a bath after the video. These pieces literally fell off. I didn't pull to get them off and hurt him.

True but that doesn’t apply as much to a bigger lizard as it would to a smaller one
I wanna peel a Tegu now!!
If you wanna peel a living sock get a beeg snek
Does anyone think that that sound when he peels off the shed sounds like peeling duck tape off a duck tape roll?

No, no and no.
If it's very loose and hanging on by a literal thread, it's ok to take it off. If there's any resistance, leave it alone.
