- Exploring the streets of the oldest Chinatown in the USA, located in San Francisco, California.
The Chinatown in San Francisco, California is the oldest Chinatown in North America and the largest Chinese enclave outside Asia. Since its establishment in 1848, it has been highly important and influential in the history and culture of ethnic Chinese immigrants in North America. Some of the early immigrants worked as mine workers or independent prospectors hoping to strike it rich during the 1849 California Gold Rush.

I am so glad that San Francisco China Town still maintained its authentic and icon looks. Not like the China Town in different part of the world. Like Vancouver and Hawaii. and many more. Iam 68yrs old Asian man who grew up in San Francisco. But had moved to another country. I miss the authentic Chinese food that was only available in China Town. 😃😪Another thing about this Chinatown is that there is a reasonable parking garage.
This is actually the biggest China town in the U.S., I think also the oldest too.
San Francisco’s Chinatown is amazing and so beautiful😇😇😇😇
I’m planning a trip to SF so I can’t wait to visit Chinatown!
Can I tag alone?

China Town is a good shopping place here. I like to go in with a budget and see what neat things are for sale, always a lot of surprises.
Amazingly comprehensive stroll through the original Chinatown. So nice to see people slowly returning to the streets with the tourists on Grant Ave. and the locals on Stockton Street. Hopefully when the muni subway station is finally opened on Stockton (the construction site you passed), this will only help to revive a neighborhood that has been particularly hard hit by the pandemic. As pointed out by others, the Richmond and the Sunset districts to the west are the newer neighborhoods with large Chinese populations but nothing can replace the distinctive atmosphere of the old Chinatown. Thanks again for the wonderful walk.
Thanks William!
Can't wait for the Chinatown subway station to open!
I spent almost 16 years living there back in 80’s and it doesn’t change at all …!
Was there hopwei and longzii clans there? Gangsters?
you can walk around the neighborhoods. I watch the videos before I go to sleep. blessings from Argentina 🇦🇷🙏🇺🇸
Big trouble in little china! San Francisco. My next place to visit on my bucket list! 😊
San Francisco is wonderful walkable city and decent public transportation
The poor old homeless lady at 45:30 has been there ever since I was living near Chinatown some 15 years ago.
She would go all over Chinatown and SF downtown to pick up cans and plastic bottles.
Love America and California 😍😍
I from jordan 😥
Thanks for watching!
I was just there with my five year old granddaughter. Fun to revisit the sites again with you. I did a shorter version video…fun stuff. Thanks
Haven't been there since the late 80s, but I still recognize some of the streets that I walked. Thank you for this walk video.
Thanks for watching!
Very gorgeous, I am falling in love with all those snaps of you. Wow, your video is so amazing mate. Your shots is truly irresistible.
Thanks! Glad you like them!
Best Chinatown in the USA by far.
I Love "ChinaTown" The Most
Cool video! 🎥Thanks✌🙂
Thank you for your video. Regarding 34:46, this lovely neighborhood park in Chinatown in San Francisco is called Portsmouth Square. This was the original location where San Francisco began as a town called Yerba Buena established by William Anthony Richardson on June 25, 1835. Portsmouth Square was named after the naval ship USS Portsmouth commanded by Captain John Berrien Montgomery when it arrived in June 1846 to protect Yerba Buena after it had broken away from Mexico during the Bear Flag Revolt which established the Republic of California. This happened during the Mexican-American War from April 25, 1846 until February 2, 1848.
The culture I love in the country I love. Hope one day live in San Francisco or Los Angeles, the golden coast is beautiful ❤️
Thanks for walking on Pacific Ave, Jackson St, Washington, hilly Sacramento, Waverly pl & Ross Alley. Most You Tube walkers just stick to Grant Ave w/o filming the real Chinatown, which are the streets you turn to. Thanks for showing the beautiful murals and walking through Portsmouth Park.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
great video
Very nice video, good trip
Awesome
Loved the old boy copping a proper perv at 30:55!
Thank-you so very much for the updated memories for me. Best of wishes to You.
Thanks ❤️👍😊❤️
Wow this is different than I
Excepted . looks nice and clean . no food shopping
Or foods stalls on the side
Street.
My home State and City. Although, local I haven't been to the original Chinatown in years. Glad to see that people are out and about again. How many Chinatowns does San Francisco have? FOUR! This is the official and oldest but don't forget about the Richmond district, Clement Street. Then you have Irving and Noriega Streets as well! (25:56), Great Star Theatre....man I haven't been to Chinatown at LEAST in 20+ years but man I remember this theatre when I was a kid. My parents would take us to evening showings when I was growing up. That was over 40 years ago!
Lots of businesses closed door
Beautiful 🤗🤗
SFO is a very beautiful city to see in USA.I went SFO in the year 2020 along with my daughter and son in law with my wife and enjoyed the beautiful things for the whole day and returned to Bay Area in the midnight.
Welcome to San Francisco's Chinatown.
Hi nice China towns

San Francisco Chinatown is def the best one in the USA Def
Stupendi i graffiti di Bruce Lee😊
Been there was great but i felt i may have missed alot of it.
Hello my friend, thank you for your great work. Don't hesitate to return to the same place again. I speak for myself, I know that I love the south west coast, even if you return 100 times. I really like LA and all the cities around the region. Much love
Thank you!
Now I have a reason to want to go to San Francisco! I have always wanted to visit Chinatown. Can you do a video on Ocean Beach in San Francisco?
Sure! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful city that respects culture heritage ens ethnic background of all its residents. Viva San Francisco!
Modern city
The food must be great.
Haha, at first glance, it is a foodie.
San Francisco closers in San Jose just 45 minutes driving
Ugh, you should give yourself an hour, otherwise you'd be speeding!
Wow this must have been taken very early before all the shops were open. Everything is closed and hardly anyone on the streets. Much different that my previous time in Chinatown several years ago.
It was taken in the afternoon.
Incredible
Hi.nice
Look at the refrigerator walking @ 51:52
So many walking tours of Chinatown. Not ONE them show us the store entrances. I used to live in S. F. This could be SO much better.
Thanks for showing this video; what day is this? it seems very quiet & safe compared to 2019. I noticed some streets were closed, no cars driving through! Have they changed permanently or just temporarily? Is it safe to travel in SF lately? I have seen so many crime videos in SF and Oakland recently.
👍💙
I live in NYC we have 9 official Chinatown. My husband is ABC. American born Chinese for the uninformed. I hate NYC Chinatowns. San Francisco has this famous one which is the oldest and the Richmond historic which is actually more authentic and less touristy. I love Chinatown San Fransisco because it is MUCH cleaner than any in NYC or the rest of the country! But the ethnic make up has changed in the one you filmed. The Chinese there come in to work. They have been here for a long time and no longer live in Chinatown. The better food is now in the Richmond district. But i love the one that you are filming. So clean and unlike NYC the Chinese there are friendly and not hostile to mixed couples. Here they al want to pretend they own my husband who wants nothing to do with their racism. San Fransisco is much nicer! Thank you for filming it is so beautiful! But if you want to have real authentic Un Americanized Chinese food go to Richmond!
@@hisnameisworthy7886 not All Chinese just over seas and those here on a VISA. Its not genetic it is taught by the CCP
I know that you just repeated what I sad!
@@weiningding3166 The CCP teaches racism. Since the Revolution the Mainland Chinese (not all over seas Chinese but only the mainland Chinese NOT Cantonese in Hong Kong) are taught racism for more see a channel Serpentza.

We're on our way to visit NYC. I just realised that NY little Italy and China Town are right next to each other in NYC. There was also an old Italy Town right next to China Town in San Francisco. Right after Broadway St. Sorry you miss that.
Hi, I made a video at Chinatown and Little Italy in New York City:

Thanks a lot for sharing this invaluable and fascinating video. I have subscribed to this channel.
Thanks a lot to US Government who allows and respects Chinese Culture and also gives space for Chinese to develop, to have their freedom which abide to Human Rights Act.
If I am allowed, please make the captions that tell us where the places are and brief explanation or history of that places. Thanks a lot for your effort.
What a lot people do not realize, most of the Chinese in San Francisco do not live in Chinatown. One in three residents in Chinatown are not Chinese. A good portion of the real estate in Chinatown is owned by developers who are not Chinese. Chinatown San Francisco is no longer “Chinatown”. A lot of Chinese owned businesses have closed. San Francisco does a terrible job at preserving culture and heritage.
There use to be a lot of night life. People would be out in the wee hours eating after watching a movie on Grant, Sing Sing theater, or Great Star theater on Jackson or Pagoda Palace on the outskirts of Chinatown by little Italy. If you were born and raised in San Francisco, you'll know what I am talking about. But then again San Francisco as a whole has changed a lot as well, not for the better.
@@proudasiangirl576 I was born and raised in San Francisco, it's sad what has happened to San Francisco in general. The soul, the heart and the character of the City is no longer there. You're right, Chinatown used to be a great spot to eat and visit with family and friends. The transplants who ruined the vibe/culture are the same people who are trying to keep the Great Highway permanently closed. I moved out of the City several years ago to another part of the Bay Area, I only go to the City for work assignments. It no longer feels like home to me.
Screw the Chinese.
La medicina tradicional china. Los dragones milenarios conocedores de esos conocimientos.
Sabias amigo Aguila que en tiempos de Jesus uno de los 12 era un chino, el cocinero de la famosa cena.
Saludos California.
Nice video apart from the 2 guys taking a picture next to the stone lion(0:15).

For all you people who have never been here, try to stay with the flow of other tourists so you have a less chance of getting robbed or shot by a stray bullet. Sad but it's TRUE.

I am really hesitant to travel to America because of the large number of murders there and the high crime rate. Where is the best city or county in California that has a low crime rate please answer I am afraid when I arrive that I will die on the second day of my stay there 😂😂😂
Up north
You can always stick to walking videos. This channel has really good ones.
Less than a minute you see a pride flag on the right in a store
Sad
