Thank you for posting this interesting discussion. There was a time when Putin was talking about joining NATO. Russia always wanted to be counted as part of Europe but was instead treated as an outsider. And I understand why. Russia is huge compared to any other European state. It would make the relationship awkward at best and transforming at worst. But this is really a mute point because the USA would not allow it in any case. The Polish gentleman said "US is the greatest pillar of NATO". I disagree. US is NATO and NATO it is the most effective tool of keeping Europe tettered. That is why even if Europeans agreed to accept Russia as an equal this can never happen. So what you have in the end is a large rejected neighbor you are all afraid of. You also have a huge historical laguage of grievances which by the way in some cases go both ways which distort the relationship of neighbor to neighbor. In the end you will have to find a way to live next to each other hopefully for another millennia.
Nato ? . Look guys all the energy you need is right there. I don't see russia as a bad guy in the grand picture. Friend your neibors and prosper or keep letting foreign countries dictating who to do buissness with and suffer .
