Yeah, just remember that picking from the roots is just synching any knots and tangles while pulling at your roots in an unhealthy way while plucking hairs and breaking healthy strands.

The best thing to do is use oil when picking the hair from the root. Vitamin e oil or olive oil and wash your hair with berry to increase natural luster.

Word of advice, moisturize your hair before detangling. And start at the ends before the roots/scalp
I never use combs in my hair. I only use my fingers and water to detangle.

Keeping my hair in twist that I do myself saved my hair so much. I blow dry each piece of hair before I twist and I don’t put any oil or conditioner until I’m fully done

Picking always works best when my hair is soaking wet and with conditioner in it. What sucks is that i always feel the need to re-pick after i wash it all out and apply some product because running that through my hair kinda messes up all my hard work.

A lot of people with 4c hair can't grow their hair out because they don't moisturize it. Once I started moisturizing my hair it started growing to the point where my curls started to stretch. Now it looks like I have 4a hair

I'd err on the side of regular conditioner while your hair is still wet or while you're still in the shower. Leave in conditioner can be putin while your hair is wet but your hairs gonna dry while your picking it out too. What sucks is that after you rinse out the conditioner and THEN apply the leave in, it feels like you should pick again lol

You make it seem easy. I’ve picked it when it’s dry, wet, and damp none of it works. My hair still is falling out and I still can’t detangle it. I’ve,tried about every way to moisturize it just doesn’t work and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Start learning how to do your own hair or find someone who can do it for you. Protective styles will help increase hair growth by alot.
His hair is more fragile start with a deep conditioning it’s ok to pick it out as long as your not yanking your hair as your doing it just be gentle ❤and keep it moisturized

Depends how short it is. When I chopped most of my hair off a few years ago I had maybe like two inches stretched on the crown of my head and like a fade on the sides. All I did that time was wear a scarf at night, and then when I woke up in the morning dampen it with water. Then I’d pick it out with a metal afro comb from ends to roots and just go out like that. Sometimes I’d curl it up with a sponge. When I showered I’d wet it even if I wasn’t washing it that day, and moisturise it once when I got out.
When you have short hair, you don’t need to do too much - there’s less hair to get tangled. When my hair started getting a little longer I did pretty much the same thing, but I wore it shrunken until it was long enough to twist.
+ my curl pattern is 4b(ish) and my hair type is fine, if that helps.

Go a few months no haircut straight gorilla mode then proceed to cutting your hair take nothing off the top and stop dry picking!
Don’t Regrow, Just Stop Picking it out & You should see Results in about 3 weeks to a month. I also learned the hard way with hair growth.
