Heya! I took your advice and DIY'ed my own necklace. My watch leather strap broke so I got some chain and made a super long to my tummy button necklace with a working clock face! It looks super cool!!
I would like to write the list they made down in the comments at 6:42 because it went too quickly lol tombstones Crosses Mushrooms Bones Slogans Band logos Rainbows Paw prints Color splatters Bees Flowers Pumpkins Eyeballs Witch hats Pentagrams Cacti Bunny heads Moon Stars Saturn I would also like to add to the list clouds Swords or a knife like object like a dagger Owls Bats cats Clowns
I made these shorts from old black jeans, I don’t know how to sew so I just safety pinned a skull patch on, I also lined the “pockets” (they’re fake) with small safety pins, I then cut it up and added a small black patch with safety pins, they’re my favorite pants I love them so much. Not very comfortable though- itchy material and tight :[
i mean if it helps with the itchiness, you could get a pair of soft, thin, shorter shorts to wear underneath (cutting up a pair of old leggings would work perfectly for this)
You should totally make clothes and then sell them on Etsy or something!!! I’d totally buy all of these items. I love them so much but I can’t sew for shit so I buy stuff that’s similar, but urs is literally perfection. I basically have the before of every item u created lol, but the after is shit from my dreams
Oh my god I just finished this and now I have so many ideas!!! I'd never thought of using a key ring in place of an o-ring, that's a really good idea!!
I love all the touches you added to your thrift finds! You did inspire me to try DIYing my own thrifted things, as well as maybe even making my own stuff. I'm a bit intimidated about the making my own clothes and such, but you make it seem so accessible. Also, if you'd like to make a video about gender and presentation and stereo types and such, I'd totally watch that. We need as many perspectives as we can get, as diverse an outlook as possible. Everyone has something to add.
you should DEFINITELY make a sewing machine tutorial. tutorials from channels im not familiar with are very intimidating, and i have my grandma’s sewing machine i could use if i learned how. if you made a video on it itd be so much easier.
speaking of band logos being too neat and complicated, I remember learning how to draw the design from the sempiternal album cover in school lol. I never tried to paint it on a patch but honestly I think I couldve given it a shot
tip for acrylic patches, iron the painted area on medium-high heat for around 30 seconds before wearing or washing! it'll press the paint flat into the fabric and give it a more print-like finish. it also helps prevent chipping in the wash :)
i drew manga panels onto a pair of jeans with sharpie and used some red acrylic paint as well and after a year nothing has faded :) you only need to iron it once to set the design.
Oh yeah, these techniques are useful for a lot of styles. I'm more of a Mori Kei type, and I watched this video while I was making some adjustments to a nice, forest-green sweater; realized when you pulled out the velvet dress that this sweater would benefit from having some lace trim too!
I have SO many items of clothing sitting in a corner in my room that I’ve been meaning to DIY for ages and this gave me the motivation/inspiration I needed, this was so much fun to watch!! (Also it was super cool “meeting” you the other week haha, I hope you’re doing well!!)
I never really bothered about being alt, individualistic, or creative in my appearance until recently and stumbled across your channel. I'm not sure I even will ever start sewing or patching/bleaching my clothes, but I just like listening to you. It's a completely different way of life, but you are so wholesome and calming, you represent it really well and I learned a couple of things about it.
I had a really productive creative day after watching your videos last night. I tie dyed some t-shirts and a skirt. Then I bleached some others and lastly I put a couple of patches on a plain white t-shirt. I had lost my creative mojo for a bit so thanks for the inspiration 😁😁
You are the first person to seriously have me consider trying patchwork and such. I love to make clothes and accessories, but I'm always too intimidated to alter stuff for some reason. I even have trouble using stickers because oh no what if it's the wrong choice smh. I do find it difficult sometimes, I also really don't like band shirts or such, which is a staple in a lot of alt fashion things. Think I might try to make a pocket patchwork shirt if I can find the courage. Also grommets are so expensive here, like a pack of 10 for €25 seems steep to me, definitely has been stopping me to buy them, but they're so fun. Anyway this is rambly, thanks for the video, hope I can take some of it.
I just found your videos recently, it's so therapeutic to watch, you're so creative and have a very welcoming approach to teaching and you're actually inspiring me to try some of these ideas from your videos. Thank you!
**Also, If you ever find a dollhouse while thrifting or on fb marketplace, I'd be OBSESSED with a video about you finding it, renovating it to fit your desired aesthetic, and furnishing it. ♡♡♡**
Came back to this video while bleaching a boring old black tshirt the other day so thank you for the inspo! Apparently if u soak the fabric in a 1: 10 hydrogen peroxide/ water mix after bleaching it helps prevent the bleach from eating holes in ur clothes. Have yet to see if that works 😁
Everything came out literally so cool!!! Thank you for inspiring me lol! Also to anyone reading this, definitely make some soda tab chains! They are super easy to make and you can cut them with nail clippers or scissors!
Hi I just want to say I love your Chanel and you have really helped me find my style and have the courage to express myself as I am quite a young alt and sometimes it can be difficult but I really look up to you and love your fashion
I have some old scrap fabric and I was wondering what I can do with it- I think it will make a wonderful choker! Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas!!
This vid is so helpful. I’m neurodivergent so it might be a little hard to do certain things but I’ve seen a few things that I can be creative with. Tbh this makes me happy like I don’t have to do everything perfectly, and alt fashion is great for it to go subtle or crazy with endless creative possibilities. Forgot to add, so i edited it as it slipped my mind while writing this comment. I agree with you on that clothes have no gender. I definitely struggled with this because I did like the feminine looking clothes before. A trans girl online a couple years ago said to me that I can’t be nonbinary if i dress feminine and I should be just special. Unfortunately i did let that comment get to me, but i did experimented with masculine clothes and i actually like them. I’m thinking of mixing both and lean either way if i want to. Femininity and masculinity to me doesn’t have to be tied to gender as any genders or none have either or both, or of you’re not into them and that’s ok too. It’s a little tricky cause i also identified as agender though i mostly say I’m nonbinary. I kinda missed dressing femininely but more goth alt witchy. I’ll figure out which of my clothes that i already have in my closet to alter and add to fit how I’m feeling now. I don’t have a lot of things, maybe over time if i want to add more. I’m kinda a decent artist but my perfectionism have prevented me from doing things i wanted to. It sucks because art is my way of expressing myself. The diy patches and painting on clothes would be a great start for me.
Oh this has so many helpful tips everywhere! I would have never thought of turning patches into pockets? Absolutely genius. Also a musical video sounds lovely!!
I'm not sure if anyone could use the info, but if you reach the level of bleaching you want, peroxide will stop the bleaching process. Just put it on top of the bleached item. This also keeps it from bleaching holes into your clothes.
Oh my Gaia your work is absolutely breathtaking as always! Style goals in every possible way! Also, super super love seeing you break down your process; you make DIY seem so incredibly accessible and fun in a way that I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before. I might actually have to give clothing customization a try now! (Also also, I for one would love to see a sewing machine tutorial video; sewing machines have always been an absolute nightmare for me, haha).
Rewatching this before school because why not lol I saw it when it came out but just incase this gives me new ideas then B) Also you mentioned a sewing machine tutorial and i'd really like that!! I have had mine sitting around unused for nearly a year lol
These are all such awesome DIYs! Love your creativity :) The plaid patchwork & chains dress was my favourite, but it's hard to pick just one! Thanks for the tip on the patches too.
Would you ever take us thrifting with you n then give a haul? Very interested in seeing what your thrift shops have, what you're into but don't end up getting n why, what you do get n why, then a revamp/diy with said items after. Especially in terms of dolls, but also accessories, clothing, furniture.
i watched your punk diy video and it inspired me to make/buy patches for my ripped jeans!!! also i’ve started trying to make my own skirt out of old flannels which is a work in progress lol. i love watching your videos, you have such a comforting & happy energy
i didnt expect you to include my tip for bleaching stuff that suprised me lmao. the shirt that you just cut rips into turned out really cool i might make something similar
Heck yes !!!! Sorry I didn’t credit u directly i get so many comments sometimes I lose track of who said what - but thank you again for the tip and yay! I hope you make something awesome 🥰

Oh my god thank you!!! It was originally a candy tin filled with cinnamon candy but I love the little devil hello kitty on it 🥰
@@RattusRattus I had a feeling it was a candy tin ^-^ also I literally JUST made a patch that says clothing has no gender!
HELLL YES I love that🥺🥳😍
