- With the Sharks winning the NHL Draft lottery on Tuesday, they'll likely be taking Macklin Celebrini with the first overall pick. Just how good is Celebrini and how quickly can he make an impact in the NHL? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins 7-Eleven That's Hockey to discuss.
Finally something us Sharks Fans can get excited about!
Quentin musty
Will smith. Celebrini. Musty. Eklund. this team is making a dynasty team
@@joshuarichardson5443 only one of these players have played nhl game dont get ahead of our selves
NO DOUG WILSON, you right lmao
@@nickmelin248 Well Zetterlund looks like he can be a top 6 scoring forward in the league I mean when you score 20+ on a team that lacked this much talent scoring 20 on this tea is like 30+ if he had a good roster around him.
It's a fallacy to say that the Sharks have been a terrible team for a long time. I think people have forgotten that the Sharks were playoff teams and (mostly) Cup contenders from like 2000 - 2019 with 17 seasons of at least 90 points from 2000 - 2019.
Never won a Cup though.
………………………………okay 🤷🏼♂️
@@JapaneseAmericanaJiuJitsubest team to not win a cup
Doug Wilson screwed them… Over commitment on contracts …. Hanging onto certain players too long like Thornton and especially Burns…. And letting Pavs walk in favor of EK65… I wasn’t liking what Grier was doing as far as getting rid of Marquee players like Meyer and Hertl but now I like a lot…. He’s not doing what Wilson did by hanging onto certain players for too long and he’s acquiring draft picks and young assets….The Sharks have two first round picks this year… #1 and #14 (Pitt for EK65) …. They haven’t made the playoffs in 5 years… but Grier understands it’s a rebuild and is now going after draft picks and building through the draft….. This kid they are going to draft #1 is going to elevate the Franchise for a long time? They may even be better than the old Sharks? We’ll see?
The real problem is we were so good at extending the window that DW chose to keep doing it in 2019 instead of accepting the inevitable then.
Sharks future down the middle is absolutely excellent.
Celebrini
Smith
Bystedt
Edstrom.
Now to get a higher end RHD at #14.
Dont forget Bordeleau, Eklund and Mukhamadullin
I think its likely they take a winger. Centers are set for a literal decade but scoring depth is still needed. I think they will take a big defensive for their first pick in the next draft.
I would try to trade up into the top 10 with pick 14 and 42 to go get ur guy
Musty!
@@petrcejka8503 Dude, why does everyone seem to leave out Musty?! 4th overall in scoring in the OHL this season. That's nothing to snub a nose at.
Crazy!!! His dad works for the Golden State Warriors and all the Dubs players and Steve Kerr know him! He will be playing in the Bay!!!
We were contenders for 20 years, we've been bad for 5 seasons. Now we have started a great rebuild. Our Top 6 of the future has Macklin, Smith, Eklund, Musty and Zetterlund with guys like Bystedt, Edstrom, Guschin and Bordeleau to fill out part of the bottom 6. Need some defenders and a legit goalie of the future and we are on the way to being contenders for another 15 years
Celebrini with Smith could high key be nasty af 💪💪💪
It's crazy how time flies it feels like just last month we were walking about how good Bedard will be with the Hawks
literally. a year under Bedards belt already. father time wastes no time.
let it motivate you, don't waste a second
Congratulations, Mike Grier.
Yeah, he led us to our third worst season ever,
@@brando7266now future we so excited
He was a local kid and with that kind of talent as they more or less said here...the number 2 doesn't even come close! Grier gives the full impression it's a no brainer hinting that having this player will be foundational to their rebuild. Going to love hearing that best sounding goal horn in the NHL a lot more next season too :) GO SHARKS !!
You’ll never see a 17 year old kid to get to this level!
If Couture can come back next year and not be a shell of himself, then the young guys will have 2 centermen, with him and Granlund, to learn from and be mentored by. If they hadn't traded Hertl at the deadline then they would faily deep at that spot and be able to form some sort of offensive game but alas, they don't.
Their issue will be defense and goaltending, they should be able to score a little next year and not have to use 4th line players on the second and 3rd lines.
That link should be in the description
Demidov is suppose to be a great offensive player as well.
I do believe it's also Celebrini's defensive game that is the reason there's a separation. We know that a lot of the Russian forwards who are offensive dynamo's don't take too kindly to the defensive side of the game.
40-50 points if he plays next year 20 on the pp
Like any other draft pick he will be a raw NHL rookie. Wait 3-4 years before making a decision.
Let Celebrini go back to college for one more year. He can only get better and the Sharks don't need them yet
@@nvflash Not sure how much better you can get when you're already dominating at that level you don't really improve much when you're already the the best player at that level
He will improve every year he plays. College will help him gain more confidence. If you watched the world hockey championships Smith was pretty good playing against the big boys but he could have been better. Celebrini didn't go so it is hard to tell
Watch hes iffy at first not really getting good then the Sharks trade him to another team then he starts hitting his ceiling and becomes some other teams marquee franchise player.
Chicago is going to get a great player ar 2 as well.
Fuck Chicago
True Ivan Demidov going to Chicago Blackhawk
Who's considered the top goalie, ?they need a goalie for the future
The new Pat Falloon
Connor bears Hawks
HE GOING HOME !!!!
He might go back to school. sharks might get a better pick 2025 draft.
Your looking at the next Alexander Daigle
I think celibrini will be a mid tier player. Hopefully im wrong. Little upset that we didnt get bedard last year.
The ncaa is NOT the national league. Take it down a notch fellas
You could say that about every jr player also.
Geez...Celli was awesome in the WJS tournament...was driving the whole team.
What does the N in NCAA stand for?
@@kamibains7259 national.. I think he was trying to say National Hockey League
Its not a forgone conclusion that the Sharks draft Celebrini. St Louis passed on Jonathan Toews for Erik Johnson at #1 overall so the Sharks could pass on Celebrini for Levshunov.
Mike Grier, the GM had his presser and didn’t entertain the thought of selecting anyone other than Celebrini. He is already a Shark, it just won’t be official for another 6 weeks
Mike Grier already said during his presser that's he was gonna talk to Celebrini's family about what the next steps would be in his development in terms of whether he would return to school or sign his ELC. Celebrini will be a Shark
He grew up a Jr. Shark! Being a Shark is no question
Yes it is. Celevrini’s dad even worked for the warriors. Hes going to the sharks lulz
Yes it is. There is absolutely no one near him, as Button is saying. Sorry, Hawks fan.
First 🎉
I am sure Celebrini was hoping it was Chicago. Now he has to play in the dumping grounds of San Jose.
Chicago was marginally better than San Jose last year. The Sharks aren’t as bad as their record suggests, they suffered from injuries and bad coaching. They are still years from competing, but they have a foundation and will certainly improve
@@altacalifornia2580, when things go bad, its usually blamed on the coach. The players have to take responsibility when a coach is canned. For the most part, they just don't have the players to compete.
@@markanderson7833so Chicago is not a dumping ground?
No don’t saw happy
Was hoping he would go to chi town !
Wow … Greedy?😆
Nobody cares what you want
@@gswguy4554 would have been sweet to watch him play with bedard you cant deny that pal
