Only would buy a trike if i was concerned about balance or falling. This is a very expensive trike! I ride an Aventon Level. Love the speed and power of the Aventon.
Same here in the UK, 9 weeks since my injury & maybe another 7 or 8 weeks of limited mobility, + 12 months of recuperation. I'm looking for a fat wheel trike or quad suitable for on & off road use in the UK & France. Checking out the wide range of wonderful new designs helps pass my time. Great review here.
Very nice review. One correction I would make is that the two chains do not actually power both rear wheels independently. The chain from the pedal crank runs to the Shimano 3-speed hub transmission, and the second chain from the transmission to the rear axle, which through the differential powers both rear wheels. One major advantage of this setup, and one reason I purchased a Compass, is that the mid-drive motor's power is transferred through the transmission, meaning the motor can take direct advantage of all three speeds. This is much more efficient than front hub-mounted motors, which only spin the front wheel and are isolated from the rear deraileur gearing system.
On a heavy, slower moving trike (shouldn't go faster than 15mph, vs bikes that go much faster), is that really utilized compared to a torquey hub motor? Hubs easily reach 65nm, even more, seems like a simpler setup that is adequate for trikes
A trike is a good option for me. I am older, with bad knees. There are some stores in my neighborhood, a half-mile away, so this would be better than getting in the car every time.
i have had a Compass trike for a little more than 3 years and it has performed wonderfully. i have 2 batteries and they have yet to show any problems. i only have 1 leg and just use the motor
If I could afford a bike like this, I'd get one immediately - I'd never have to be worried about being carless or homeless again. Its frame could easily hold an attachable canopy that a solar panel could be attached to, a solar power station could be mounted on the frame, and cargo could fit easily within that basket, in fact, it's probably strong enough to tow a bicycle camper :) I'm praying for something just like this.
My wife and I have owned two electric trikes for over a year now and would never go back to two wheels. They are so much more 'fun' and practical at the same time. We use them for shopping , beach with all our 'stuff' and also load them in the van and go on picnics everywhere. We use them locally like a car but without the hassle of parking. On wet or very cold days we use our van or ice car which we will always keep. They aren't just for old people . Teenagers have expressed a liking for them because they can use them freedom like a vehicle.
My son is 18 with autism. He needs to gain independence as well as exercise. I need the trike for balance, stability. He loves to get out and I'm looking for an electric assist so he won't get as discouraged. I'm shopping. Not that many choices and I am trying to factor in a lot with controls and ease of use. I am in Seattle and have good trail systems so I think that with the right equipment he will gain a bunch of independence. Thanks for making a trike, it is a specific market but much needed.

I'm on 42 with no knee or balance issues...But I like the idea of being able to carry my dog (15lbs) in the back safely. I haven't rode a bike in 20+ years other than once on vacation around the island....I want to risk injury to my dog if I did have a blance issue or fall with hi on the handle bars of a regular bike.
With 2 batteries on my Compass I regularly go 60 miles on a single day. If that's a short distance, try doing 60 miles on a non-electric bike at any age!
I have had a Red Aventon Adventure electric bike for a while now and love it, but only have about half dozen miles on it. It’s one of the nicest electric bikes on the market under $2,000. However, because of my changing health conditions I now require a Trike. So, I’m in the process of selling the Adventure and looking for the best Trike available. I have done some extensive research on all the trikes and feel that the Evelo Compass is what I want. The only thing I wish it had is a 750w motor, hydraulic brakes and turn signals. I have a steep hill near my house, and I was able to make it up the hill on my Segway X-2 very easily, but not my bike. The other thing I wish it had is a Red color, the same as my Adventure.
Very good video. I like the way you break it down. I think fat tire trikes is better then 2 wheel fat tire E bikes because you can do a lot more with a tike. And it's fun as heck. What's fun is you save money and it eliminates the gas cost
As a Compass owner, I find a big problem with the so-called "parking brake" feature on the front and rear brake levers: in a word, you have to choose whether you want to use the lever (front or rear) as a parking brake or as a normal brake. Why? In order to engage the thingy to block the brake, you have to pull like crazy on the lever, which will quickly damage the entire cable system between the lever and the brake caliper. Choosing to use the front brake as my "parking brake", I had to give extra slack to the brake cable, just enough to engage the caliper firmly against the rotor and to comfortably block the lever with the plastic thingy. This hack doesn't leave much leverage for normal front wheel braking. I solved the problem by filing the thingy back enough for it to engage later in the lever's pull cycle. And I chose to do this for rear brake. One other criticism: The wiring from the headlight is way too short, as seen by the way the headlight on the demonstrator's trike is pointing upward. That's because the wiring pulls the headlight upward every time the front wheel is turned to the right. The only solution is to disconnect the wire to the headlight (easy to do) during the daytime. The tail light is only useful at night. There are nice, bright "daytime" flashing red lights for bicycles that protect you much better during the day.
This would be the perfect trike if only there was a 750, or better 1000 watt motor. I am 100kg a live in very hilly country. How about a more powerful option? Regards, Warren

Does the display have an input for rider weight. I presently weight 255 lbs. and would want to know how far I can ride the trike given varying weight of cargo and pedal assist level.
What you're asking would require the installation of a super computer on your trike! After a few rides with a 100% charged battery you'll know how far you can go. Watch out though: The care and proper feeding of your battery is very important if you don't want to blow through one 800 dollar battery a year. First: charge your battery up to 100% just before a ride; if you're not going to ride, charge it to only 80%. Second: don't let your battery discharge below 30% or maybe 20% at the most. Initial response: Got this bike for my friend. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ Delivery was fast. And the friend was surprised I would order it when she had never suggested she wanted anything but the pedal bike she had. She has now ridden the bike two times and gives it a 10 and says it is very fun. We have some hills in our town that are very challenging to climb on a typical bike. But tonight she went up with the pedal assist and loved it. I was way behind on my standard bike, huffing and puffing. Now she is no longer lagging behind me. This thing is powerful enough that a person could go around town without any pedaling. She likes to get some exercise so on flat ground she hits the red button to turn off pedal assist and only uses the twist throttle when she's in a tough spot. The bike looks good. It is really a very nice bike for the friend. Now for me, when I get an electric bike, I'm twice her size and will be looking for a bigger watt motor and battery. But this one is just wonderful for my friend. I am happy with this purchase.
I don't know about snowmobiles (not much snow in Southern California) but on my Compass I definitely DON't lean opposite on a turn, something I learned very quickly. Of course common sense and laws of motion tell you to lean into the turn, otherwise you're going to tip over, especially on a trike. In addition, most residential streets in my town are slightly convex, and riding near the gutter on a trike definitely does not feel horizontal. I find myself constantly leaning toward the middle of the road.
Painful review with misinformation about the drivetrain and handling. If you ride the trike through corners as suggested at anything faster than dead slow speed you have a good chance of tipping over toward the outside of the turn, very bad advice at 12:30 in the video.

500w,that's all?i'm disapointed.I don't accept less than 2000w.
This trike has all the bells and whistles, three thousand is out of the question though...
Like so many things ive heard and seen in video BOT DOESNT COME WITH BACK REST BEHIND SEAT UNFORTUNATELY
Why would you bother telling us about your range test and not ever mention what the battery capacity is. Useless. Turns out it's only 10.5 Ah. For $4500, that's bad.
All Right you guys, Okay you guys, Alright guys..... Please give it a rest on you next video, alright guy???
Hay tutoriales en donde enseñan cómo armarlos no queremos comprarlo
I really dream of having that bike problem, I don't have money
$4700 ! That is nuts.
The leaning is like driving a snowmobile, lean opposite
I don't know about snowmobiles (not much snow in Southern California) but on my Compass I definitely DON't lean opposite on a turn, something I learned very quickly. Of course common sense and laws of motion tell you to lean into the turn, otherwise you're going to tip over, especially on a trike. In addition, most residential streets in my town are slightly convex, and riding near the gutter on a trike definitely does not feel horizontal. I find myself constantly leaning toward the middle of the road.
Guten Tag Tag, können Sie mir bitte das Eigengewicht des Fahrzeuges verraten, danke👏
Any aussie looking at this trike. Don't waste your time, they don't ship to Oz. Love this bike heart broken.
What's the width?
80 centimeters (I measured it on mine, so it'll fit into a Honda Odyssey )
Painful review with misinformation about the drivetrain and handling. If you ride the trike through corners as suggested at anything faster than dead slow speed you have a good chance of tipping over toward the outside of the turn, very bad advice at 12:30 in the video.
Nice, but to expensive
I need to train my legs, I prefer a tricycle that I can pedal. Old people need to exercise their legs
I'll take one ... you pay for it
