Releasing balloons should be illegal. All the parents with the gender reveal and those who graduated are to be blamed
Don’t forget every time someone dies, gotta let huge bouquets go up in the air, just disgraceful.
@@srezzy1326 those too
"youre doing something I don't like, so it should be illegal!!!!" Good luck with that bro. You can't regulate the world into perfection.
While we are at it, let’s make gas boats illegal. I hate smelling them while I’m in the water. I can imagine what they do to the wildlife. PS I’m also against releasing balloons!
Gender reveal. What kind of stupid bullcrap is that.
Those are just the ones that are floating. For every one you found, there are 100 more in the water column below
😢😢😢
Are you sure that figure is accurate? I remember hearing something from the Ocean Cleanup Project that most trash is actually at the top, only small particles get very deep. Then again what they considered to be the “top” could be quite a few meters below.
@@nicofelieeven if that is the case, are you familiar with where the large majority of sea life lives? Shallow water 💪
and then we eat it in seafood like nothing happened. microscopes show a more "plastic-y" story in our food though
@@nicofelie they have proven microplastics break down and get in every facet of the ocean, they find it in most places now. They've even found microplastics thousands of feet deep in a cave untouched by humans
Since some people can't regulate themselves, maybe it's time to regulate balloon makers to make sure all balloons are biodegradable.
Be an example by getting rid of and banning from your life these communication devices. Far worse for the environment
@@Katrieliblebut you NEED communication device.... you don't NEED balloons
Or just ban the production. Who tf needs balloons?
They've tried to regulate manufacturers and they say they are biodegradable- but they run tests on dry land etc - not in cold salty water where they cause so much damage and last a long long time. And when they do degrade, they look like jellyfish and get eaten and marine animals starve to death with guts full of plastic.
Also, often the string causes serious harm - and they last longer than the balloons.
@@Katrielible Environmentalism can't be fixed by individuals trapped in capitalism. Go write your reps and large companies.
This is why I cringe every time I see a "balloon release." They're killing our marine life.
Me too😩
Did you know that Chinese fishermen are the main reason why there's a lot of Plastics in the ocean look it up millions of fishing line are pulled out every year and they go out of the way to go to foreign water so they do not have permission to fish in and they will take the fish
Not just that, but also wasting the only helium the Earth will ever have. Every balloon we fill with it, it will eventually leak out from. Every bit that leaks out will just go up into the atmosphere until it’s blown off into space by the solar winds, never to return again, and never to be replaced. The helium we have left on this planet is the only helium we will ever have - when it’s gone, that’s it, no more, ever. And it’s needed for things like healthcare treatment! There’s nothing else in the universe that you can use in its place. 😢
'Our' ?
@@johnnyveganite9141yeah?
The earth does not deserve us at all. Remember, we need the planet. The planet doesn't need us. Let that sink in.
People take the "we are living in a simulation" theory way too far. People think balloons just disappear when you release them.
Thank you to the people who picked those up! The careless way some people behave is reprehensible.
Sadly, 22 million people have their birthdays each day of the year which means Sadly, 22 million people have their birthdays each day of the year which means if we are to adopt the western style of birthday celebrations, at least 22 million balloons will end join the ocean every day.
Like riding on a leisure boat in animals home with nasty smelling gas leaking in the water. Gross.
@@QueenofKings-mh7znbingo. Everyone is damaging the earth in one way or another just by living. Unless you are not travelling at all (unless by foot), growing your own food and creating no garbage or using electricity, you’re also part of the problem.
@forcedbreathingistyranny696 not everyone in the west celebrates with balloons. Some use alcohol.
She polluted more driving around in her boat then those ballons did. Don't buy in to he self-righteous bullshit environmental caring. The lifestyle of the wealthy pollute 10000x more than that of labor wage earner.
The kind of people that throw trash in the ocean are the same kind of people that think the world is their trashcan.
Most ballons are let go into the sky. Gravity puts them in the ocean
@@Ottophilstill idiotic to do and is still littering.
We used to throw bags of trash in the ocean every night in the navy. Who’s gonna tell you anything in the middle of the ocean while it’s pitch dark. Now multiply that by thousands of ships worldwide 😂

@@MartysPizzaRaccoon”Republicans” explain that one? Makes absolutely no sense.

This is one reason why I hate glitter.
I've started to use the bio degradeable myself. It's literally better.
@@maybemablemaples2144 most things are biodegradable, it just means that with time it will break up into smaller pieces. What you're looking for is compostable alternatives.
That and it gets all over the place worse than Easter grass.
@floptimus I know. I specifically use kelp or seaweed glitter that literally just washes off and dissolves. I know how plastic works thank you.
Can't we find alternative ways to celebrate special moments in life? 🌎🌏🌍
Making these devices so that yall can communicate what good ppl you are is far worse than some balloons floating in the ocean. 😅
Everytime I see a balloon release, I think about the animals that will try to eat them. 🥺
You're not alone with that thought. 😢
Me too every time it just literally breaks my heart
Also, fishing line. I used to take my son to let him fish when he was a kid, and I would spend the time picking up discarded fishing line and hooks.
Same. It makes me especially sad when it's done at a child's funeral. What a way to honor your child...littering the earth and endangering sea life.
Did you know that Chinese fishermen are the main reason why there's a lot of Plastics in the ocean look it up millions of fishing line are pulled out every year and they go out of the way to go to foreign water so they do not have permission to fish in and they will take the fish
Thank you for posting this. Thank you for caring enough to help. I checked out this book Plastic Sea from my library, and it's such an unbelievable tragedy killing seabirds and other marine life. Our government needs to fund prevention and cleanup of plastic pollution. We don't want rainclouds dropping our trash back upon us!
Did you know that Chinese fishermen are the main reason why there's a lot of Plastics in the ocean look it up millions of fishing line are pulled out every year and they go out of the way to go to foreign water so they do not have permission to fish in and they will take the fish
I don’t use balloons at all for this reason
I wish people would not throw their trash in the ocean or on land and to think before they let a balloon go up in the air.
Or stop buying balloons. If you throw them away, then they go to a landfill. That’s still throwing them on the ground. It’s just us collectively agreeing which ground. We need to stop buying things that aren’t NEEDED IMO. Our trash situation is simply not sustainable.
This is why people should not be doing balloon releases!
This is what i think of when I see people doing a memorial send off of balloons for a deceased person. There has to be a better way. The balloons are going to come down somewhere.
You've done infinitely more damage just driving to and from anywhere you go. Any recreational activity you do has more of a negative impact on the planet than a few balloons.
They should make those balloons of a material that will dissolve shortly after they get wet. I watch a UA-cam channel where the guy does a lot of clearing with excavators and dozers. He finds balloons on nearly every job site.
Yes. Thank you. That’s a great idea. People are not going to stop releasing them so mapmaker them a material more environmentally friendly
@@rebeccabamford5505it's not that easy and it's not cheap to research or make environmentally safe versions of anything.
@@JTheraos I understand. You’re probably right. Just would be nice if possible.
If everyone picked up a bag of trash every time they went on the water, I think the results would be amazing in a relatively short time.😊
That is why I get upset when people let go of balloons into the air. You can't control where yhey come down. What danger they could pose.
I soooooo appreciate this, THANK YOU! ❤❤
Sincerely,
New Hampshire's litter-picker-upper
The tragedy that micro plastics have probably already leeched off them into the water
I understand loosing one by accident, but that's just excessive!
Commenting for the algorithm, people need to see this before they do a "cute" release.
This happens all the time when we go out on lake Michigan. We usually spot a few and snatch them out of the water. Kinda sad.
I do the same thing when I go on kayak trips. Sometimes I find them in the most remote natural areas 😡
Thank you.❤
Thank you for your kindness, your time is truly appreciated ❤
Thank you for caring, helping and being AWARE. Wish all would. 💔😢🙏
Did you know that Chinese fishermen are the main reason why there's a lot of Plastics in the ocean look it up millions of fishing line are pulled out every year and they go out of the way to go to foreign water so they do not have permission to fish in and they will take the fish
I remember the huge balloon release for the opening ceremonies for the 1974 worlds fair in Spokane Washington. Ironically the theme for the worlds fair was "ecology." 🙄
I was 12 then but i also remember an activity at Comstock Park on the south hill that held a balloon release every summer. You filled out a post card attached to it and waited for it to come back from parts unknown. There were prizes for most unusual spot it was found or furthest away.
And now of course plastic straws are banned but balloon releases still fill the skies and not a thought is given towards the yogurt containers or plastic tubs for spinach, kale and urugula and lawn furniture choking the waterways and filling the food chain with micro plastics.
What? Those ballons don't disappear somehow when you let them fly?? They don't rise higher and higher until they reach space and go where no balloon has ever gone before???
No, they don't. They simply fall down and become waste.
I don't know what is more scary here. The possiblity that the people, who let the balloons fly didn't know or the possiblity that they didn't care.
Anyway: Thank you very much for picking them up!
I've seen enough people on the internet that it leads me to believe that they truly do not realize that their balloons end up harming our environment versus ending up in outer space somewhere.
It's sad but true.
A majority of people are simply piss ignorant.
My mother in law started doing this several years ago at a small town grave yard and wouldn't stop even though I told her it was illegal after news of state laws said it was. She is too Old to drive and I was the only person who would drive her out of our city to that grave yard, no one else in her family has time or something. So, as of one month ago, I refuse to drive her out there to pollute that certain area in our state just because she wants to let go 20 Toxic balloons in the sky for her demented Amusement. She's gradually loosing her mind of old age and doesn't realize littering is absolutely breaking the Law, of Nature.
I venture into backcountry where few humans go and find these regularly. These need to be banned, yesterday. Listen, no 5 yr old is going to be crushed if they don’t get their floating trash. Stop it.
😂😂😂😂 thank you
It’s the same people that leave their shopping cart up against someone else’s car instead of in the buggy rack.
And is 100% why I am AGAINST balloon releases.
While I understand many families do this in honour of lost family members and other significant days I actually believe it should be against the law, the danger to aircraft and wildlife is just so much higher than for the reason they are being released in the first place.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT! We appreciate people like you.
Nobody seem to care that animals can get caught in them. Plus all that glitter, it ends up in fish. And finally in people. When do we do what against it?
So happy to see these people taking action! And for it to be shared here. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That’s so amazing and kind that you all picked up those balloons! And also, when you think of how NASTY some people are who throw trash in the street, it’s very disgusting and disrespectful!!
People forget the rule of “what goes up must come down”.
Balloon releases need to become a criminal act, it’s no different from littering. 🎈❌
I refused to go to a childhood friend’s memorial because it was centered around releasing hundreds of balloons. That was 12 years ago and everyone still holds a grudge against me. I don’t think he would have liked the idea of polluting the surrounding area, either, so I was actually honoring his memory by not going!
This is one reason why I'm against releasing balloons. You are doing a great service.
Well people let balloons go and must be thinking there going to space. They land somewhere eventually, and with most of the earth covered in water unfortunately there found floating in the ocean alot. Stop letting balloons go in the air lets all do are part to keep this one and only planet we have clean.
I have retrieved many mylar balloons on trips between the mainland and Hawaii
I always say what goes up must come down and that is bad for mother earth 😢😢
❤thanks for cleaning the water we see those balloons in trees here I'm my opinion they should stop selling balloons with helium
Thank you for all the lives you saved.
This is the most California video I've seen in a while
Every time I see a balloon release, I get mad!! Where do people think those balloons end up? Space?
Thank you for picking up trash in our oceans! You are all heros.
Wow thank you for making his day. I could see hope and happiness in his eyes
Thank you so much.
Thank you for taking the time to care for nature.
Thank You so very much for all you do to help with the environment. There's no telling how many sea animals you just saved. Bless you🎉🎉
I wondered where all those balloons that get released, end up. Some people dont care and will think let somebody else take care of it. Thank you for bringing this to ny attention. I don't care for balloons but seeing this and reading the comments, really opened up my eyes
It’s not about picking up after yourself, it’s about not buying and releasing them in the first place!
Thank you & your family for caring enough to take action ⚘
I hope you report that to the agency and you guys are awesome for cleaning up the water.
That’s why I stopped purchasing balloons years ago!
Thank you so much for caring enough to gather them. ❤❤❤

Wow! The public needs to be made aware of this . I just watched a u-Tube where hundreds were sent off at a funeral and I have been to a wedding where balloons were released .
The public IS aware of this, they are just so self centered they dont care

Thank you, my friends
You make a wonderful job

Just sick and disgusting that people Litter like that
It’s not like anyone ever trashes them in the water on purpose? They likely let go of the balloon, it deflated and ended up falling into the water
I have long believed we need to find another way to celebrate. Also, we see people release large flights of balloons to honor those who have passed. Perhaps they could be redesigned to make them quickly biodegradable.
Thank you for picking these up and highlighting this issue. More selfish avoidable suffering by people.
There needs to be laws against releasing these balloons
Maybe we need to prohibit those 🎈

And these mobile communication devices we are using ..... far worse for mother earth than the balloons.
@@Katrielible Yet one , with a brain , must ponder what uses , if any a balloon carries......
I love that they care so much about the earth! ❤😢 People need to stop making these balloons! They are so bad for the environment. 😞😥
I shudder to think about when I was a kid and my school would have every student write a note and attach it to a balloon. We would then release them all to see who would find one and write back. I dont think ANY student had a response so we basically just polluted the earth for a moment of "fun". Ugh.
Ridiculous people releasing balloons to kill wildlife in memory of their dead is absolutely awful. What a horrible selfish and stupid way to remember anyone
Good people did this picking up. Thank you❤❤❤
Start charging manufacturers for every ballon found until they just quit making them non- biodegradable
I'm still wondering why they manufacture the things.
Agree 👍
I live coastline in the North Atlantic, and i mean North as in theres still snow currently on our mountains. There is next to no population here, but our beaches are filled with plastics. I find a lot of those plastic manufacturing pellets, and there definitely is no plastic manufacturing plants here, or anywhere near here.
There are lines of rainbow colors of plastics on the past high tide mark, and these just keep rolling around in the tides breaking down amd ending up in the fish the commercial fishing industry catches. The fish thats sold everywhere, and served to people in fish dishes around the world.
We definitely need to taoe better care of our oceans.
I expected the headline to read "Family Pulls Dozens of Balloons from Dog's Mouth".
Do we really need balloons anyway? Make them biodegradable and dispose in compost bin or forget about them.thank you for every act of care and concern for our earth.
Thank you for picking up the balloons. The more we see the litter, the easier it is to be conscious of what we throw away.
This is why I don’t buy this trash balloons. Thank you for doing this. ❤
Look up Ohios balloon release record.
Isn't that the one where the balloons attacked the people?
Very important to point this out. You are a great caring family. Thanks guys. Keep pointing things out. ❤💯✔
Thank you and these people who release ballon’s into the air, shame on you.
I'd just love to have the authority to fine people for releasing balloons.

Sad, sick, horrifying 😢 thank you❤
I understand children releasing balloons hoping it reaches someone in heaven. This video educates us why we need to find another way.
It’s actually crazy some of the stuff I find while fishing. I found a cooler with beer in it floating about 2 weeks ago. Probably the best find of my life
Bravo kids! As yet uncorrupted! As yet, hopeful. Our conscience.
It's like when they've made playgrounds and all kinds of stuff from trashed flipflops
Trash made by baloonheads, filled with nothing but hot air.

In uk a shop called Card Factory accepted helium balloons back for recycling. Unfortunately, that shop is shutting down many of its stores.
