'Jerusalem' by English composer Hubert Parry was composed in 1916 to the words of William Blake's poem 'And did those feet in ancient time'. It rapidly gained huge popularity which it retains to this day, and is sometimes used as England's 'unofficial' national anthem. The piece has a fascinating history which includes connnections with the women's sufferage movement.
The Royal Choral Society was the first choir to sing this work in the Royal Albert Hall in 1916.

It always stirs me to thought as to how it, the original poem, was written in the very early 19th century. It then went on to stir a nation and then provide the inspired title of one the great films. Cheers!

Actually I had received it from an Anglican Digest back in 1980's. It only has been recent Jerusalem' has been introduced via UA-cam that I've been fascinated but what cemented the glue was a feature the West Point glee club sang it in respect to our British allies which had received raves all over the world.

Actually the version I've read is legendary that involves before his revelation Jesus Christ who had been hired as carpenter on trading ship which had conducted business on Britannia. When he had introduced his gospel to the pagan world. It wasn't until Joseph of Armethia brought the news about the death and resurrection of Jesus and brought the chausabil from the Last Supper to Brittania. It would produce very early Christiendom to where the Abbeys started way before Saint Augustine arrived to bring forth The Roman Church rites. This would include the Arthurian quest to locate Holy Grail from Camelot.

This comes from the theory among some ancient historians that the Ten Tribes of Israel who were exiled by the Assyrians in 750 BC migrated to Europe, and therefore Europeans are actually the blood descendants of the Biblical Israelites who crossed the Red Sea out of Egypt.
I think rather that 'Jerusalem' is a metaphorical reference, theorizing that Jesus may have visited England during an unknown time in his life between his childhood and adult years. Hence, "And did those feet in ancient time walk upon England's mountains green", is in reference to his potential visitation, and describes a sort of spiritual idealism with his work in the proverbial Holy Land as written in the Bible.

I read that it's about a legend that Joseph of Armethea who gave his tomb to Jesus was Jesus' uncle. He had tin mines in England and brought Jesus to visit England when Jesus was a lad.

The English suffix "ain" means land. "Mount-ain" Terr-ain" etc. "Brit" is the Hebrew word for Covenant, so Brit-ain means "Covenant Land".
The name of the tribe of Dan is all over Europe too. The vowels were not written in the Hebrew so they are interchangable. Denmark, the Danube river, Dunkirk, Dun Leoghaire etc. Den, Dan, Dun - countless places have that name.
The Scandinavian alphabet is taken from the hewbrew alphabet. The Welsh language is very close to the Hebrew language. So many things seem to tie together, but it's not 100% certain.
