Freedom Vans is the best! This is my van and I am sooooo happy I chose Freedom to do my conversion. Everything is top notch and they worked with me in the layout to make it work for me. I have done 5 weekend trips already and not a single glitch! There are a lot of van companies way closer to where I live but in the end the journey was a great decision. Great people to work with!
We have a 114 with a self conversion, which works for weekend trips, but in a few years we will move to a 170 to travel months at a time with our dogs.
Now, turn this into an offroad vehicle with proper shock absorbers, offroad tires, airlock, and better insulation against cold weather and it will be perfect!
@@FreedomVans Depends on where you live. If you live in California then 110% insulation adapted for that climate doesn't mean much, but if you live in northern Sweden it's different. One thing I noticed is that you have stock windows. These are not very well insulated which means that a lot of cold air can push through. Insulation in the walls is one thing, but you also need thick double or triple-layered glass for the windows. Take a look at the German manufacturers. The Germans make the best vans and expedition vehicles in the world and they think about everything. Also, you need to place the waste water tanks and the freshwater tank inside the van with some heat around it to prevent freezing. These are just a few things you need to consider when adapting a van for cold weather.
@@professormoriarty6875 All good points. This van is mine, and Freedom Vans thinks these things out pretty well. The windows are not stock, but rather AMA with sliders. There are separate insulated magnetized covers that go over all the windows when needed. The freshwater tank and lines are interior and have heating elements surrounding them to prevent freezing. The suspension was upgraded by Freedom Vans to a Van Compass system and I have upgraded the wheels/tires to Black Rhino with Toyo Open Country. I left the stock wheels/tires originally to get some mileage on them before upgrading.
The head liner is very pretty! I wonder what it would look like having that material on all the walls🤔 This van is awesome! I would definitely need a 170 lolll my dream van would be something resembling Fitz Roy or that one van you did that was very zen and spiritual. It was made with geometrical shapes requested by the client. That van was 🔥🔥🔥 lolll all your vans are anyways 🤷🏾♀️ lol
Such a beautiful design, Kyliegh! It’s amazing what you guys can do with just 10’ of space. The attention to detail and trim work is what sets Freedom Vans apart for the rest. I’m looking forward to seeing the 2023 Sprinter, they moved from 4x4 to AWD and from diesel to gas. I think it’s going to be a game changer.
I love your vans! Your half dome van tour video was a huge inspiration for what I want for my 144 build. I love to travel but I also have a pop-up shop so the design would need to be interchangeable with lots of storage for a small shop. you guys continue to inspire, thank you!
Can you make a 144 also include a bench seat so two adults and two kids fit? Along with beds for the 2 adults and 2 kids, fridge etc?! And storage for mountain bikes / outdoor gear inside? Big ask but that would be a dream build!
I would rather have the 144. Even though you give up space, it's easier to drive, and although it's not an "off-road" vehicle, the 144 will be able to get down a bit more rough forest roads than the 170 will.
If it were just me I really love the simplicity of this but I’d add one of those cool boat style hatch windows for stargazing. If it’s for my 3 p family w tall people I can never decide but def a 170 for the family.
Nice build and like the large fridge. However, would have liked an inside shower and air conditioner. I would probably have given up that tall fridge and a bit of the counter length for a shower/toilet in that space. Definitely need an air conditioner for the hot summers.
Pretty much perfect. Only change I would make is I would want my cooktop to be able to put on the countertop and that place where you have it now used as storage for silverware and utensils.
The cooktop is actually portable so it can be used on the outside table if needed. But with that said your idea is good as it would give a little more drawer space...

I like the 144, smaller footprint. I like this layout.
Thank you!
Finally. A decent freezer. Lovely build
Wonderful build!! Love the 144.
They use their van all the time and love it 😊

144 all the way ! It’s just me and my dog. I think it’s really large for me!!
WOOOO 144's! As a small solo person that size would be best for me, but I can see how a couple or family may prefer the extra space of 170.
I agree with you. I love being van size 😂

We go 110% with insulation as it is, not sure how we could make it better! The off-road tech for Sprinters is definitely starting to get there

Thanks, Mike! Hope all is well with you. We should have our first 2023 Sprinter conversion done end of Summer 2023 😊

Aw thank you for your sweet words! Ah, a modular 144 sounds perfect for you.

Hatches for stargazing are magical 😍 thank you for sharing!
Love this van layout!!
Thank you!
Great build. I'd like an outdoor shower for my van, what is the kit?
