Visit Li Xianglan's 1930s Shenyang (aka Fengtian, Mukden and Shengjing): An historical Panorama!

Now everyone interested in the life of legendary diva Li Xianglan can visit the 1930s city of Shenyang (also known as Fengtian, Mukden, and in ancient times, Shengjing). This is where Li commenced her singing career in 1933 , and where she would return from her studies in Beijing between 1934 and 1938. Following her movies, she would make personal appearances at the various Shenyang movie-houses where they were shown and entertain her many fans (now a lost art).

-it shows the visit of a young lady from Taiwan to Shenyang for the purpose of "walking in the footsteps" of her grandfather. The young lady's grandfather happens to have been a car-driver for Li Xianglan when she was in Shenyang (and famous throughout Asia for her movies and hit songs). The narrator of the video is named Hexi, and he is an expert at identifying old historic sites from the early 1900s - present. Hexi points out where Li lived, where the main theater was located, and most importantly, gives us a great tour of the Yamato Hotel where Li began her singing career at the age of thirteen. If you have never seen the stage upon which she sang, or been on the roof of the Yamato Hotel, let this video give you that very experience!
