  • Many people today claim to believe in Jesus while rejecting what Christ taught: that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. In this message, R.C. Sproul explains why we must believe Christ, not the critics, as he looks to the One whose endorsement of Scripture matters most.

Do not be sad for what you cannot have but instead praise God for what He has given you; and remember you are not your own. You have been bought with a price.
On a personal I could be sad that I never got to hear the Apostle John preach because we all know how much more powerful that would have been over just reading his dry words, but I thank God for His words through John and the other disciples He chose and, of course, that He gave me the faith I need to even hear them.
We cannot have everything in this world nor should we for then our eyes would constantly be on this world, but I think that we have to be like Paul who was content in all things that God had ordained for his life. Remember, Jesus said we should not rejoice for what we can do here on earth but instead that our names are written in heaven.

So glad to hear this explanation, especially in this era. The church is the body of Christ, the Lord is the Head. He is the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God in writing, revealing the Will of God and that means the church's doctrines are to be Bible based to the letter or it can not be the body of Christ.
Thank God the Bible is not a philosophy, nor is it human interpretation. Praise God forever.
Thanks again for posting this valuable sermon.

🕆 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.🕆

Before the cross and his resurrections:
Matthew 24:36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. “
Mark 13:32 “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.“
After his resurrection just before he returns to the Father:
Acts 1:7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.“
Seems to imply he now knows, as he is reclaiming the glory he laid aside (Philippians 2:6,7)

The problem is that there are TWO Jesus's mentioned in the bible! Paul stated " For you gladly tollerate a Jesus other than the Jesus we have preached,". So even before Constantine inflenced his lacky bishops at Nicea to view 'Jesus' as an alternative to 'saturn' to suit the emperor's military strategies, men were allowing Greek philosophy & pagan notions to look to a 'Jesus' OTHER than the humble carpenter's son who was tru;ly the 'Son Of God' & NOT God the Father himself!

Jesus couldn't be Jesus if He walked into the room and said the Scripture wasn't inerrant. The entire record of O.T. prophetic Scripture would oppose that statement. That Jesus would be in flagrant contradiction. You would have an angry Isaiah an irrascible Jeremiah a contentious Jeremiah.

The God in Jesus has no role whatsoever in our salvation. It's a decoration!!! These so-called titans of faith just put it there for no other reason but to confuse the bible. Even Jesus himself told everyone that the Father is the only true God and that He is greater than him!!! When Jesus did not claim equality with the Father does not mean he is equal to the Father. It's actually the opposite. There were only three persons of the bible that did claim equality with God, and they all got punished. Yes, they were perfect, two of them were human one angel. who wanted to be like God. So, Jesus did the right thing, his perfection didn't go to his head like those three. But we too are guilty of the same claim when we listen to our selves instead of God, are we not claiming equality with God? We lost focus, the bible is not the question of God. Even if there are millions or billions of Gods, these Gods are ready to send me to hell and the only one man can prevent that from happening is the man Jesus. Rom 5:19b so also through the obedience of the ONE MAN the many will be made righteous. We argue about 1 or three Gods means nothing, only the man Christ that can save you from no matter how many Gods you like. 1 Cor 8:6 yet for us there is but ONE GOD THE FATHER, FROM whom all things came and FOR whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, THROUGH (VIA) whom all things came and through whom we live.

Unfortunately, as clever as RC sounds he is not teaching what the Lord Jesus said but what man says. How do I know this? Well, his teaching on the two natures of Jesus is not to be found in the Bible but in the Councils of men which took place hundreds of years after the death and resurrection of Jesus and the deaths of his apostles. Jesus didn’t know that he had two natures and neither did his apostles it. The majority of verses you care to use to support your supposition are easily explained away. But please don’t take my word for it, do your own research. You need to do one essential thing and that is - clear your mind of any presuppositions - then like a good detective set about looking for clues that establish the facts. Do this before arresting the doctrine and locking it up a Council cell.

@@anitawallace2166 May I presume to ask you a question? Are you truly searching for answers or are you wanting to argue about the issue? The reason for asking is - I have found that one rarely wins an argument and what’s more if one does happen to win one, the party who appears to lose will invariably become more entrenched in their beliefs even if they are irrational. However, so as to avoid seemingly to dodge your direct question I will answer it. “Jesus is not God.” And any verses that you think counters this view can be adequately explained. I’m tempted to point you on the right direction depending on your response. Blessings.

My apologies I rushed to send off my previous text as my wife needed me to assist her in doing something. I did not answer your second question. “Yes I believe Jesus is a man.” No doubt a very special man, in fact one of only three very special persons. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit of God thus was born of God and was thus born from above. The other two special people were Adam who was made by God and Eve who was likewise made by God but neither Adam nor Eve were born of God. So you have only three people you were in effect “made from above with one having the added distinction of being born.” Jesus himself declares “For this cause I was born and for this cause I have come into the world.” John 18:37. Therefore, Jesus was conceived and came into the world just as you and I were conceived and came into the world - with the single exception that our fathers were of this earth and his was of heaven above. Thus he is legitimately able to say I came down from above when, for example, referring to himself as the bread that comes down from above.

Hi Anita, Strange as it might seem we attend a Baptist Church though we are not members. We do not want to sow dissension so we have kept our beliefs to ourselves, save having told the Pastor. I am, however, struggling with whether we should stay or leave.
My wife has been a Baptist all her life. Her late father gave me a little booklet written by his Pastor who had the intention of explaining the Trinity to his flock. I read it and it had the opposite effect. It caused me to question the concept.
I believe in free speech and freedom of expression. I am always willing to listen to people who may or may not agree with me. I am a little more reticent to tell them about what I believe. The reason being that it can have serious repercussions for that individual and land him or her in a similar situation to the one I find myself in.
I’m going to take the liberty of suggesting to you that you take the time to watch a delightful series of talks by Joel Hemphill and his wife. It is both entertaining and revealing. If you so wish, go to UA-cam and watch:
1st TV Program - Joel Hemphill - To God Be The Glory.
