Does Kuroiwa and Kuwana counts? I know it's just 2 locations tho. Also Shibusawa has 3 different places with 3 different styles each phase. I can see why people really like these 3 boss fights a lot
@@blastmole299I was surprised when a lot of people didn’t like Kuwana fight that much, the Kuwana soundtrack is very loved but the fight itself is not
@@andresashura5550 Kuwana is still an amazing boss and arguably the best antagonist in the series and has killer music, but fighting in an aisle of a warehouse pales in comparison to the set pieces of many other final bosses.
I've never really thought about it until now, but I think the final fight against Shishido had the perfect setpiece. A man who has toiled over the implications and ideals of what the yakuza have done and how they impacted not only himself, but society as a whole, and a man who had no other path in life to claim as his own, who turned to this life as a yakuza as a means for survival, not ideals like Kiryu, duking it out on the rooftop of the Omi Alliance building. The sun setting could have many significations, such as the Omi Alliance and Tojo Clan being laid to rest, Shishido's fight for survival coming to an end or Kiryu's saga finally coming to it's closure, whole he stands on the rooftop, signifying he defeated it all and stands proudly against the odds.
This game’s bosses were the definition of quality over quantity. There’s not a lot at all but every single one is an ABSOLUTE TREAT, Shishido might dethrone Kuroiwa as my favorite final boss in the series.
Even the regular boss theme slaps, that's when you know the actual boss themes are gonna be great. Pyscho's Anthem and Fleeting Dreams are my favorites in Gaiden
Shishido's boss fight was nothing short of breathtaking! Not my personal favorite final boss in the series, but definitely in the Top 5 when it comes to Kiryu's at least.
Shishido is such a fcking awesome character. Well I guess that holds true for the ones that are considered "old fashioned" yakuza. Then there's just something about these Jingweon boss dudes who always bring such electronic hype on their music (Theory of Beauty) and now this and I love it. They also re-used Amon's theme from 7 which is pretty nostalgic lol The only flaw of gaiden is its too short but man I had a blast playing it
definitely reading too much into this game but i love how the boss themes get progressively more and more into the style of old yakuza games the further it goes on (except Unrequited cause that goes full ham yakuza early on) while i was playing through the first parts of the game, it felt weird. the daidoji influence is reaching even with how the game itself feels Furioso felt completely foreign to me, it totally did not sound like a yakuza boss theme Unrequited, as mentioned before, switches it up with something that 100% feels like a yakuza boss theme, cause you're fighting Tsuruno. it still feels weird however, the daidoji's grip is still tight Rupture is a completely unique boss theme, you cant even hear a single instrument that'd classify it as something from yakuza then coming towards the end of Chapter 3, with the Castle long battle, it started to feel like classic yakuza. this is also the point when the daidoji loosen their grip on kiryu so it fits Soul of the Ogre feels like something from Yakuza 6 Pyscho's Anthem DEFINITELY feels like something from Yakuza 6 (Joon-Gi Han nudge nudge) Treachery incorporates most the yakuza-feeling instruments used in former games then the final boss just cranks the yakuza feeling to 110% Deadly Struggle is just pure yakuza energy, the guitars, bass, the chorus, bridges, all of it is just pure, unfiltered yakuza just rockin out Fleeting Dream is sad pure yakuza energy :( similar to For Faith (Daigo) and Scattered Moment but less sad please go easy on my 4 am self, these r just what i thought while playing this cool ass game
I love what you mean by the daidoji having a grip not only on kiryu and his life but also on the game as a whole, with one of the parts of course being the music. The early ost starts with a focus on instruments that sound more cunning and sophisticated like the daidoji themselves, but as you progress they start to become more pumped up, aggresive, and driven, embodying the yakuza lifestyle.
The video I was waiting for, the truth is that the gaiden ost has become one of my personal favorites of the main game saga, especially because of how different they are from each other and (in the case of the bosses) they manage to make each fight have its own personality and not feel repetitive in the sound Thanks for taking the time to make this compilation and cheers
Amazing music as usual for each game and this one blows me away. Also love Shishido and Nishtani ❤ goats and I love the different take on a new patriarch of the Kijin clan
Wouldve been dope if you included boss themes from the Colosseum (For Face, Massive Fire, Receive and Bite You). But you've done plenty by organising the new ones. Cheers!
You somehow managed to make Shishido's dynamic intro even more badass by changing the sync, that is nothing short of amazing On a separate note what was that "Quick Time Events" thing that shows up for a frame before transitioning to the static frame of Shishido and Kiryu?
I just beat this today. Adored these bosses so much. Shishido is absolutely my favorite final boss of the Kiryu Saga, only surpassed by Hanpeita and The Mole in the franchise as a whole. And these banger themes are a big part of that puzzle.
A scattered fleeting moment = A man should be a little stupid, lets fight it out as the Yakuza we are Fleeting Dream = The ways of the Yakuza cannot last forever, lets go out with a bang.... It felt like a theme for Kiryu putting his way of life down for good.
I just had to check again but lmao i actually kinda remembered Homare Nishitani also being the name of that one guy in yakuza 0 and i actually was right that makes this Nishitani a descendant of him but who then is Homare Nishitani II?
Hard Disagree. I think Gaiden's ost is one of the weaker ones aside from a few bangers, and the plot while fine is mainly filler until the final chapter.
This game gave me something that I wanted since 5. A final boss that just has crazy ass cutscenes that moves the fight to various locations

Dope that Nishitani's theme carries the dna of Theory of Beauty considering both are themes associated with Jingweon survivors.
these themes goes all the way back to Yakuza 2 North Menace
The way Nishitani just pops back out of the fire shows how much of a beast he is This games’ villains are some of the best

My Favourite OSTs so far in Yakuza Gaiden:
1. Deadly Struggle/ Fleeting Dreams (Kosei Shishido)
2. Psycho Anthem (Homare Nishitani III)
3. Wailing Warrior (Tetsu Amon/Gai Amon)
4. Rupture (Kihei Hanawa) Or yeahh Morinaga basically
