- Sanitarium is about a man who wakes up in a screwed up Asylum.He has no memories and wears a head band suggesting a heavy accident. From there he travels over several worlds to find more about himself.
One of the best games on the PC. It's available on Good old Games (GOG.com) for $9,99 and provides lots of goodies, including this awesome ost. For people who are into mindfucks,horror, originality, and click and point adventures.

Something about this chapter in particular really got to me. Seeing all these severely deformed orphan children playing and eating candy among destroyed buildings and corpses, "Lumpy" overjoyed as he drags his sister's long dead corpse around in a wagon, none of them seeming to understand their situation. One of the more disturbing settings I've ever experienced in a game. Same with the ghost girl later witnessing her own parents mourning over her death yet not even realizing who they are.
I loved that chapter, I wihs the rest of the game kept the similiar vibe. Although I can't say the other "dream" chapters were bad.
I still vividly remember the conversation with Mother. So so creepy!

This is one of the most underappreciated soundtracks I think I've ever heard, really helped create the twisted worlds of the game.
I found this song to be the most memorable of the entire game for me. And easily my favourite area / characters

This game never got the attention it deserved.
Quite the contrary. It is listed as 36th in the best adventures ever made and it sold 300.000 copies in the first year of its release so it's makers considered it quite successful.

Sanitarium has such a beautiful soundtrack that is quite remeniscent of Akira Yamaoka's work on the Silent Hill ost

@@GenMaster as someone who played this game, The Innocent Abandoned was easily where the game peaked. The other parts are great, but the atmosphere and sense of dread just keep slowly building unlike any of the other parts, and the song just adds to that.

The best chapter in the game! I wish the game had continued on this path instead of the change of direction they took at half story.

I bought the game on GoGfor 9,99 dollars with the soundtrack as bonus. While the soundtrack wasn't really high quality, it has some really good tracks. Like this one 8)
