- Trains at West Drayton station, on the Great Western Mainline, situated 1 stop after the Heathrow Express Airport junction, on a scorching hot day on Saturday 23rd April 2011!
With a few strange going's on... Maybe its just me, but I didn't think FGW used their 2-car 165/166's on services to Oxford, especially not on a fast service calling at Slough & Reading only! If they do they're normally coupled up with another 2 or even a 3 to make a longer train. Well today for the first time I saw 2x 2-car singal units fly through on the fast lines! Then, bare in mind its a saturday afternoon 3x 3-car units together in a 9-car formation speeding south! I've never seen a 9-car turbo not even in the peaks, let alone a saturday afternoon. So yeah, I must say I thought the 165/166's were being very odd this day.
INCLUDES: More 165/166's, EWS 66 dragging a 67 and of course lots of HST's!
Check out the other videos taken this day at, Gatwick Airport, Queenstown Rd & Brookmans Park!

Last time I was at West Drayton was in 2008 when I was on my way to New York. The Novotel at Heathrow is just down the road. Great vid m8! A lovely spotting point for both trains and planes! =-D
They use 165s/166s on the Bedwyn services mate and they go Paddington-Reading nonstop
Maybe the 9 car 166 train is replacing a broken down HST on a service to and from the Wiltshire and Somerset counties, like a Bristol to London paddington service passing Didcot then to Reading. I wish they can be used regularly on the Chippenham to London branch non stop express.
@nxea170202 Yes I know they do, but certainly not a 2 car!
Don't think so. Very weird to see very tiny trains on the fast lines. Once, I saw a 6 car train calling at west drayton, normally 166 trains that are 6 cars or more run semi fast and out of the London area.
166 + 166 +166 was caused by the last unit breaking down apparently :P
i went there when i was a kid
i got the 9 car 166 passing Didcot rail centre
Was is not in service, was it a semi fast train from Oxford or was it replacing a broken down HST?
