Klim took one of its most popular hot weather jackets and made it even better. The upgraded Induction jacket comes with proprietary Karbonite Mesh paneling throughout the torso and arms, alongside 840d textile in abrasion zones like the shoulders and elbows.
The mesh is a really a standout feature too. Sometimes you get a mesh jacket and the material feels soft, light, flimsy almost but not so with the Induction. It’s tightly woven, and to the touch feels sturdy and dependable. Complement that with the Klim rhino stitch construction and you have a jacket that’s going to be capable of withstanding high levels of abrasion without tearing.
Then there’s enhancements to the fit and feel. You get soft stretch material in the crux of the elbows, fitment adjustment straps on the forearms and a soft fleece lined collar. There’s also a lot of 3M Scotchlite reflective accents on the exterior for better visibility.
Storage is pretty simple, with two hand warmer pockets and a single chest pocket outside. There’s also a small stash pocket for little items on the left arm.
There’s no removable liner inside, but there is a soft, fixed Klimatex cooling mesh material incorporated in the interior. There’s also a single zip closed pocket inside also.
Another neat touch is the upgraded D3O impact armor. Klim makes use of the D3O LP1 protectors in the elbows and shoulders, designed to be even more breathable and low profile than other standard D3O kit. You also get a full D3O back pad inside as well.
Fit in large, my normal size, is pretty much perfect. The sleeves feel just a bit long however, which will provide ample coverage in the ride position but makes the jacket seem a tad big off the bike. I don’t think sizing down would be advisable since fit is great otherwise.
