The most obvious improvement i would like to see is something that holds the drill steady and allows you to concentrate on a constant feed rate for the dowel. Something like a track or rails. Of course with a second drill, you could automate the feed by turning a long threaded rod. Great project! I love 3D printers! All the best, Rob in Switzerland
Great work on the design. But you could do the same thing a lot easier with a roundover bit and just round over all four sides of the square dowel. A little sandpaper and a drill and you can size it to fit just right.
It seems to me you are just enjoying coming up with devices and jigs ! Pretty cool stuff, I hope you can eventually sell your ideas for big money to the big guys, so register the thing asap..
I'm thinking that turning your drill into a lathe has be independently invented many times. It's my go to technique when I have slightly oversized dowels. But in my whole life I don't think I ever designed/invented/built anything as nice as this guy's gadget.
the sidewards mechanism is over complicated it should be a swivel joint that gets clamped shut. my my being a critic is easy and fun. it is a cool thing you made.
I admire the amount of "face the danger!" going on here! 😁

Great suggestion. Id like some out feed support as well. Thanks for the comment!

😁 that would be great!
Great design AND entertaining! Well done! 🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
Not very often I see a fellow woodworker using solidworks. Nice design iteration. I might have to make of of those in the future!
Thanks! 👍
Didn't you turn your drill into the lathe?

Badass!!! Thank you for making this video
Glad you liked it!
Great design
Thanks!
Made me laugh ! Thanks and keep up your good work :)
Glad you enjoyed!

Excellent! But a quick trip to the hardware store could have reaped you a circular dowel ;-)
Good point!
But of course it would not have been as FUN!
are you thinking of selling this as a complete product for people who dont have a 3d printer?
I have thought about it, but I’m just not sure I want to do that just yet!
